We're coming from Southern California for a few days for redwood. So after our first day; since we were staying arcata near by, was looking for something before everything closed and fortunate made it in a reasonable amount of time. Our family is part Cambodian, so where we live there are some restaurants but not close by so we jumped on the opportunity especially since it was nearby where we were staying. Definitely left satisfied and it felt nice to have the food since we were far from home. Service was great and attentive and glad they didn't mind we came within the last hour and let us take our time since we had a long day in the park which we enjoyed with our 7 month old. Don't really know the area so to us it seemed hidden. But people were coming in constantly picking up orders . So I'm sure it's well known and popular. The ambience is nice inside, and would recommend if you like Cambodian food or haven't tried it. Looking forward to bringing more family with us next time we come back in the area. read more

Meal and service were five stars! Who knew Eureka had good Asian food! Those fried shrimp rolls were nice and crispy and the texture of the crepe was perfect with plenty of filling (bean sprouts, lettuce, chicken, onion, jicama, cucumbers, fresh basil) which paired nicely with an in- house made peanut sauce. Loved the decor and the ambiance was warm, welcoming, and vibrant. Service was excellent. The pace of taking our orders, checking in, bringing the check, and refilling our waters was on par. Definitely an option to consider if you plan on visiting downtown Eureka. Plus, it's located next door to this cute Asian convenience store. Check it out. read more

The pho is amazing! The customer service is really good. Its extremely clean and wheelchair accessible. Its a family owned business and they take so much pride in thier food and space. I ordered Fish Amok/ Amok Trei, which was delicious. My wife ordered Cambodian Crepe/ Banh Chav. Both were delicious, with the crepe being surprisingly light. The staff was friendly and the interior was nice. I ordered the egg rolls and chicken rice plate. The flavors and spice level were underwhelming. The pricing was expensive for what you get. When we arrived, we parked on the side of a brown building with no windows so we weren't sure if we had the right location. As we walked in it was pretty busy for a Tuesday night and they didn't have ample seating so we agreed to sit at the bar. They were extremely accommodating and as soon as a table for 5 was available they moved us. We orders shrimp rolls and cheese puffs for appetizers along with oolong tea and then we decided to do family style dining so that the five of us could try multiple dishes on the menu. We ordered the Pad Thai with beef, the house fried rice, the broccoli stir fry with beef, the Chow Mein with chicken and the sweet and sour fish. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh and we were waited on attentively. The owners were friendly and explained it was a family business passed down from the previous generation and we realized this is the only Cambodian restaurant in town! Came here at 6 on a friday. Got the Yao Hon, red chicken curry, and papaya salad. The papaya salad was the best. The flavor was pretty good. Had a lot of pork strips in it. 5/5 The red curry was a more liquid kind. Tasted a lot of ginger. Had 4 large sized pieces of chicken in it. Charged $3 for a small bowl of rice ($6 for a big bowl) which is very pricey considering its just a bowl of white rice. The chicken pieces were moist but the overwhelming ginger flavor of the red curry was too much for me. 2/5 The Yao Hon was a first. Never tried it before. Came with a plate of veggies and some noodles on top. The flavor was a little lemony, peanuty, savory and mostly sweet. It was VERY sweet. Especially after the soup boils and the water evaporates a bit the flavor gets to be quite overwhelming. Eaten with the rice is very good but since the rice is so expensive and needed to be coupled with the soupy dishes is not ideal. 3/5 Service is standard. The business seems to be doing well since it is in a smaller city, however I probably would just stick to ordering the more standard dishes like papaya salad, fried rice, pad thai, etc. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Humboldt County. I had never eaten Cambodian food before I moved here. But it is SO good!

Well, this was one heck of a surprise. Asian food tends to be pretty limited in many spots, even along the Pacific Coast. Most towns of any size will have a Chinese greasy spoon and sometimes a Japanese or Indian offering. But Cambodian is a bit more esoteric. Even in bigger metropolitan areas, finding Cambodian or Laotian cuisine can be something of a challenge. So it was with some trepidation during our passage through Eureka that Annie's was one of the most highly rated spots in the small city along the coast of (very) Northern California. Caution to the wind, we parked near what looked to be a pretty dilapidated building. It looked almost like it might be abandoned and I wasn't sure it was such a good idea to enter. But enter we did and it was transformative. The interior was filled with diners. Above comfortable and attractive booths were hung large paintings of idealized Cambodian scenery (including one of Angkor Wat). The contrast between exterior and interior could not have been more different. Receiving our menus on being seated, my wife ordered pho (it's not exclusively Vietnamese) and I ordered a lemongrass dish with chicken (not exclusively Thai!). Our food came out quickly. The pho was incredibly aromatic and tasted very much like a traditional Vietnamese version of the dish. The accompanying vegetables and herbs were quite fresh. My lemongrass chicken dish tasted quite similar to versions I had had in the past, but it had an unusual, thicker texture. It, too, satisfied. The cost of our meals were moreover quite reasonable. if Annie's were in San Francisco or Los Angeles, it would not necessarily be that remarkable, and that is the only reason why I haven't given it five stars. But for more small-town California, this was a first rate meal and a truly pleasant repast. If you find yourself in Eureka, make sure you go! read more

Stopped by on my way to the redwood National park and decided to get take out. It was a cozy restaurant located near the downtown area of Eureka. I ordered a lemongrass chicken w mixed veggies & a side of white rice. Service was fine. This one dish w rice came out to be $28! Rice was $3 and not included with the dish. They also charge $4 extra for added veggies. Super pricy in my opinion and honestly not enough food because there was barely any veggies. Taste was also very average. My girlfriend and I have been meaning to try Annie's Cambodian for some time now during our stay in Eureka. After their extended holiday closure for the Cambodian New Year's, we were finally able to give it a try. Here's how it went: To start, we ordered the cream cheese puffs and shrimp spring rolls. I also order the plum wine for myself. The food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. I had the plum wine served cold and it arrived in a sake bottle and glass, which was plenty for us to share. The cheese puffs had a nice crunch for the initial bite but a chewy texture afterwards. I personally didn't care for the sweet and sour sauce - too orangey and tangy for my liking. The spring rolls were fresh and packed with all vegetables as described in the menu. The dipping sauce was like a fish sauce topped with peanuts. Shortly after our appetizers came our main course entrees. I had the green curry with tofu (light spice) and my girlfriend ordered the sweet and sour fish. Overall the taste of the curry was good - a balanced spice and sour - but I would've liked it to have been a more thick curry rather than liquidy. The sweet and sour fish was honestly okay in our opinion. The tilapia itself was good and tasted fresh enough but the sauce was way too overpowering. We were a bit surprised to see that rice was not already included in the main courses and that we would be charged for each bowl - it would have been nice to be told this information since we didn't know it would be separate and that they'd automatically include/charge it in our order for us. Overall, dining at Annie's was a pleasant experience and we would be open to trying other dishes. The service was very kind and quick and we are greeted within minutes of walking in the door. The server regularly checked in on us as well. I don't think my water ever made it past halfway to empty! Service: 9/10 Appetizers: 8/10 Main courses: 7/10 read more

Wanted to try this place out for a long time so I decided to go yesterday. I love the inside. It looks very elegant and the colors are well balanced. For an appetizer I got the shrimp rolls. It was essentially shrimp wrapped in the same thing an egg roll would be wrapped in. It was pretty good! The sauce that came with it paired well. The only thing I disliked is that it was $9 for five thin pieces and there were no veggies inside with it. Just the shrimp. For dinner I had the lemongrass chicken. I actually really loved this. The onions and bell peppers were really good and the seasoning was perfect! I wish they could have added more chicken in though. It seemed that it has the least of the ingredients on the plate. My girlfriend got the pineapple fried rice and that one was okay. Probably would not recommend it here. Overall, the food was pretty good, especially for the area. If you want to fulfill your craving for asian cuisine, you can come here. The reason why it's 4 stars is because of the pineapple fried rice and the small shrimp rolls. Well, we finally made it in to the new location in Henderson Center and had my expectations completely surpassed. The new location is bigger and so beautifully decorated. The staff were all super friendly, professional and delightful. We ordered everything from papaya and Cambodian salads, fresh rolls, chicken curry, Annie's fried rice and boba smoothies and it was all incredible. We chose Annie's when a work colleague joining us for dinner asked if we had a good southeast Asian restaurant here in Humboldt. He left saying Annie's will be his new go to restaurant while here on future business trips. And if it hadn't already been a great experience the owner came over to ask how our dinner experience was and thanked us for coming in. Fantastic food is always well made, tastes amazing, isn't greasy/oily, and the cooks are fully capable of modifying dishes for allergies and vegetarian needs! A simple example: Thai ice tea with oatmilk instead of dairy! I've been there 4x in the last 3months, and the quality of food and service doesn't waver, no matter how busy they get! An oasis of flavor in an area where pleasant blander tastes can sometimes prevail. I admit it I'm spoiled with the variety of spice and tastes available in Los Angeles. So, I was psyched to find this place in Eureka on a neighborhood-y street. My partner and I liked the spaciousness of the room and the enormous Black & White photos of Angkor Wat made the venue comfy. I love Asian food and generally have been unimpressed with what Humboldt County has to offer. When Annie's opened in its new location on F Street, I knew I had to check it out. Hallelujah! The food was excellent, the ambience was clean and inviting, and the service was solid. After only one visit, this is now my go-to place in the area. Everything I have sampled has been good and most of it has been great! After a year of trying over a dozen different restaurants, I discover the best of the bunch is only four blocks away.
