I've been hearing great things for years, my first visit here was a bit less than expected. Service did not get off to a great start. The server was very slow at getting to our table. I suspect it was the loud gentleman seated at the table behind us, but I digress. Once the server came over, we were off to the races. We started with the carpaccio, roasted garlic, and portobello appetizers. Delicious! I would highly recommend each one. The board that is served complimentary was delicious as well. I enjoyed a glass of the Inkblot Cab Franc with my NY Sirloin fully dressed. I love a good steak, and this one was right up there! We didn't have room for dessert but ordered the signature dessert to go. Sadly, I never tried the dessert before I left for my flight the next morning, but I'm sure my brother and his wife enjoyed it. It just gives me a good excuse to go back.

Always a wonderful meal- we are in this area about once a year and dinner was so fabulous we made reservations to return the following night. And we are already thinking of all the amazing choices we haven't yet tried for next time. 1st night 1/2&1/2 ribs brisket and snapper. 2nd night steel head and chicken cordon Bleu. The side salad fresh and delicious, the charcuterie board is always wonderful too. Desserts were the goat cheese with chocolate/ raspberry (Devine), lemon tart, flourless chocolate cake- which would have been perfect with a layer of the lemon cream topping from the tart. We Highly recommend!

This is definitely priced for special event dining, IMHO. My husband and I had an early dinner here for our 16th Anniversary. It was amazing! He had the filet mignon and I had the blackened steelhead - we shared bites of each others We enjoyed wine and prosecco. They asked if we were celebrating anything and then brought us the house special dessert which is in the shape of a heart. We also ordered a dessert that was similar to pecan pie only more decadent. We will definitely keep this on our list of wonderful, locally sourced food restaurants to visit again. Hope to go in the summer for their outdoor seating. And our waiter Garrett was very helpful and provided wonderful service.

I was so excited that this place has a vegan option that is not curry. It is a family favorite and I ant wait for us all to go back.

Fabulous birthday dinner. Great waitstaff, delicious food, and excellent ambiance.

Great birthday dinner! Fabulous waitstaff, ambience, and delicious food. Larrupin never disappoints.

Food is so Dam Good! We spent 4 days traveling northern CA-THE BEST food our entire journey. The gorgonzola sauce on top of the steak with truffle butter was amazing! Yes, the salad with balsamic and bell peppers was really delicious. Nice surprise, charcuterie board with meal -beautiful presentation and it featured goat cheese from the local farm fantastic Figs, apples, pate, and mustard sauce, pumpernickel bread. Ambience is Smooth jazz and low lighting. If you're fine with the colder temps sit outdoors with warming heaters. Definitely a romantic evening with significant other. Jazmine our server did a great job-she worked hard. Be patient and tip well. This is a busy restaurant. THE only exemplary food we found in Trinidad! The area needs more places like this!!!! It is reservation only/smart to reserve your dinner the night before in order to get the time slot you want. I loved the experience and highly recommend dining here

What a fun experience! I can't wait to go back and catch them earlier! The ambiance is fabulous and very unique. Great place to sit and enjoy your company and the amazing food. Augustine was our wonderful server for the evening and he does a fabulous job. He's great at his job very knowledgeable and has a great smile. We felt right at home. Let's talk food - Appetizer board - wonderful flavors and "it's meant to be playful" loved the description of how to combine the items. Get the explanation of the food so you know what you are eating and where it came from! Yummy Half n Half - wow the meat is amazing and yes the brisket is a little spicy so be warned! The salad that comes with the meal is fun and perfect. Fish of the day - we went with steelhead and changed the bed to risotto. Can't go wrong the flavors were on point and everything was perfectly cooked. Vanilla crème brûlée- wow the top was amazing and crunch and the flavor was perfect including the texture. Signature desert- I don't remember the name but might have been a little too smoky for me. I like the textures and it was so cute how it was served. Lemon tart? The bomb! So worth it!! Oh and the music - I say on the bench and put on my shoes and thought someone might be inside playing a piano. Walked in and the sounds were filling the building and added that perfect swanky calming comfortableness to complete the evening. All in all I say a 10 and I'm hard on things! Okay so I didn't like the wine I picked but that's my fault no one else's! I should have asked to taste it before committing. It would be a great spot for a party!!

This is an excellent spot for a nice, classy dinner up in Trinidad! From the presentation to the flavors, you can tell they put a lot into creating a great dining experience here. I have dined on the picturesque outdoor patio, as well as the upstairs dining area. Meals include the appetizer board of cheeses, fruits, dips, and bread. The coconut shrimp (a special appetizer) was crispy and flavorful. I loved the chicken cordon bleu as well -- the sauce was creamy and the chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. For dessert this time we ordered the lemon tart pie as recommended by our server, and it was delicious -- a better cousin of key lime pie in my opinion. Service was great! I definitely hope to be back in the future.

We went here recently and everything about it was incredible. The lighting was soft and low, just the right kind of ambiance that feels romantic but still comfortable enough for a nice family dinner. The service was on point. There were plenty of servers, and they were consistent and attentive without hovering. Everything ran like clockwork. We started with the carpaccio and the coconut prawns, and wow, you will not find a better coconut prawn anywhere. The batter was crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. For the main course, I had the ribs and brisket. The brisket was absolutely to die for, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The ribs had a beer-battered flavor that wasn't my personal favorite, but if you're a fan of beer batter, you'd be obsessed. My fiancé ordered the steelhead, and it was cooked to absolute perfection, tender, flaky, and seasoned beautifully. From start to finish, the experience didn't miss a beat. Highly recommend for date night, family dinner, or anyone who just wants a great meal with great vibes.

A Cozy Coastal Gem with Fantastic Food and Service!…read more We stopped by the Trinidad Bay Eatery and Gallery for an early dinner during our trip. Located in the quaint coastal town of Trinidad, the restaurant is in a beautiful spot with ocean views just a two-minute walk away. The ambiance inside is cozy and welcoming, the staff are friendly, and we were seated after only a short 5-minute wait. The food was absolutely top-notch, and everything came out fresh and flavorful: * Chicken Burger: This came on a ciabatta bread along with coleslaw and the most amazing aioli sauce. It was incredibly juicy, warm, and flavorful. * Clam Chowder & Local Beet Salad: Both of these dishes were outstanding. The clam chowder was rich and comforting. The Local Beet Salad features organic seasonal greens, organic beets, local goat cheese, sunflower seeds, a balsamic reduction, and a citrus vinaigrette--it was top-notch and incredibly fresh. * Kids' Chicken Nuggets: My son got this from the kids' menu, which comes with a side of ranch and a generous portion of crispy fries that he really enjoyed. * Cajun Alfredo Pasta: My daughter ordered the rice pasta version of this dish, which features a creamy Cajun spiced sauce and garden herbs, making it a wonderful, flavorful gluten-free pasta option. * Blackberry Cobbler & Chocolate Ice Cream: For dessert, we shared the cobbler made with Marion blackberries and a sweet cinnamon crumble topping. It was served warm with vanilla bean ice cream melting on top and tasted absolutely amazing. My son also got the chocolate ice cream and he loved it. * Vanilla Latte: We also grabbed a vanilla latte, which was perfectly crafted, smooth, and delicious. Our server, Annie, was incredibly friendly and nice, making our family dinner feel even more special. If you are in the area, this is a wonderful place to stop for great food and a warm, local atmosphere!

The fish and chips were plentiful and the quality and thickness of the fish were unmatched. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her sandwich and fries with a California branded malt vinegar. That was such a great experience that I stopped in again on a similar road trip in 2019. Fast forward to 2026. My husband and I were taking that same route and made sure that Arcata and Salt were on the itinerary. I was looking forward to the amazing risotto I'd had in the past! I was disappointed to discover that the location, the vibe, and the menu have all changed. That said, we still enjoyed our meal. I ordered the Market Salad. It was fresh and the dressing was light and delicious. It was large enough to share. Not realizing how large the salad would be, my husband also ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was cooked perfectly with a light breading and it wasn't not greasy at all. For our main course, we split the Salsiccia pizza. It was the perfect size for us to share, especially given the appetizers we had. The amount of toppings were on the sparser side, but that just might be the nature of that pizza. Side note on the service: Our server was friendly enough but she was not very familiar with the menu. I asked if I could substitute the lettuce in the Market Salad for romaine and she didn't think that was possible. I explained I didn't want field greens and/or big leaves and she assured me those were not used in the salad. She said she thought it was iceberg and it was chopped very fine. With that, I ordered the salad. When it arrived, it was actually bibb lettuce that was left in relatively large pieces. At least it wasn't field greens! In their new location, they have a great patio. If I were a local, I think this could be a great place to hang out and enjoy their crafty cocktails. But since I'm not, I don't think I'll be back to Salt.

Our server was very pleasant and let us know the special of the day, a halibut dish with a creamy pepper sauce. Debating between that and another dish, we asked her recommendation and she suggested the fish. So we did it. My wife and I traditionally split meals at restaurants, because they generally give you so much food, you leave uncomfortably stuffed. We prefer leaving comfortably satisfied. So we split the Arugula Salad. They bring complementary bread with a garlic butter or basalmic and olive oil. We preferred the basalmic. The garlic butter wasn't very garlicky. But the salad was excellent. They split it for us for a small upcharge. The Halibut was excellent. We had to split it ourselves, but that was not a problem for us. It was served over couscous and was excellent. A bit small to split, so we added a cheesecake dessert with ganache. Very good. We paired it all with a Cabernet from the Oakville area of Napa (where we had just visited) and it was excellent as well. Our server was attentive. The pacing of our meal was very well done. Not too long between check-ins, but also not rushed. We recommend!

I found this restauraunt on Yelp and we reserved it for my birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We sat by the window and had a beautiful view of the sunset and bay. Upon being seated we were served some bread with some whipped butter mixed with some sort of seafood I believed? I forgot, but the butter was delicious. Our first round of bread however, was average at best and was very dense and doughy. The next rounds of bread were significantly better though, so maybe there's an inconsistency with the way they bake their bread in-house. I ordered the seafood penne pasta and my boyfriend ordered the king salmon with risotto. Both were "specials" and were not on the menu. However after digging into reviews here, it seems they are not so much specials since both dishes have been served here for the past 7ish years. Seafood penne pasta: I would rate a 3/5, maybe a 2.5/5. The pasta itself was not al dente which was disappointing. The "star" of this dish was supposed to be the scallop, which was severely undercooked! It was super soft and mushy. The shrimp was alright...some were overcooked. The salmon was also dry. I think the only thing I really enjoyed was the mussels, clams, and the sauce. The sauce had some curry with a small kick to it. This dish was just okay. Escargot: We ordered as our appetizer, I'd give it a 3.5/5! The escargot was a little soft but paired wonderfully with the bread. Creme brûlée: 3/5. Our waitress kindly put a birthday candle on it for my birthday. :) I enjoyed it, and it was very custardy! The downside was that the sugar on top was too burnt. I can't speak much for my boyfriend's dish, I did have a bite of his salmon and it was alright, maybe a bit too salty. The service however was wonderful and our waitress was super kind and helpful. Maybe I would come back to try another dish if I'm back in the area.
