This is one of the greatest restaurants I've ever visited. There is a calming ambience with leather seated booths, nice wooden tables that like the result of human craftsmanship rather than machinery, and low lighting which serves as a compliment to the muted, warm colors which decorate the dining space. The food was fantastic. None too oily, nor too saturated with complex flavor profiles. A consistent experience throughout; however, this place shines when it comes to an unexpected item. Their coffee. I walked in once and ordered just a coffee. No sifting through a tiny menu booklet, peering over ridiculous coffee names, and no micromanaging ingredients. I simply requested a coffee and they gave me what is the greatest cup of joe in my entire life. It reminds one of espresso, a kind of dark roasted and chocolate-y flavor, but it is palatable and pleasant. No bitterness at all, but it doesn't sacrifice its richness in getting rid of the bitterness. If nothing else, go to this place for their coffee! Purely and simply a divine brew. read more

The grilled pork tasted as I expected, sweet, charred, and lemongrass. Reminds me of a place from Sacramento that I used to go to all the time. Also got a yummy mango shake. I've driven by here a lot, I finally decided to stop for lunch. I like the Asian atmosphere of the restaurant. I started with my old standby, the fresh spring rolls. They were very very good. There was a decent portion of shrimp, and all of the ingredients played very well with each other... the warm peanut sauce was delicious! I saved one of the rolls and some of the sauce, and took them home for later. The pho was also very good. For a small, it was a decent size. I thought that the broth was just a little bit salty for my personal taste, but a little bit of hoisin, and the lime helped out a lot. Again, they were generous with the ingredients, I really liked the meatball, a little bit of the meat was just a tiny bit tough, but not much. Overall, a very acceptable bowl of pho. The prices were reasonable. The people were very nice. I mentioned to her that I'm going to Vietnam in March, and she asked me where I was going? My friend and I stopped in Eureka for lunch and came across this Vietnamese restaurant. The place had a few people since it was off time but it was clean and spacious. We were seated pretty quickly and got our drinks while looking over the menu. I chose P4 - Pho with well-done brisket, flank steak, and fatty brisket. My friend selected B5 - vermicelli bowl with bbq pork and a small bowl of soup. Food came out quickly and I also got a decent small plate of bean sprouts, jalapeños and a wedge of lime and a bowl. My friend's vermicelli bowl also had a good amount and we dug in. The pho broth was really good. Not the best but it hit the spot with a nice rich beef flavor and some of the spices that is used to flavored the broth. It had enough meat and noodles to make me happy. Unfortunately my friend's vermicelli bowl wasn't good. The house sauce was so bland it didn't flavored the bowl. The bbq had great flavor and may need a touch more sugar for sweetness but you can tell it's not good quality pork because it was fairly gristly. He also did not get his soup so he drank some of my broth. Nobody came around to check on us or for a water refill. It wasn't bad but probably will steer away from the vermicelli bowls next time. read more

The bowls have a very light taste and bordered on bland at times so I added a lot of chili sauce and basil. The space is very open and very quiet. Want to state first that I have been eating at this restaurant since it first opened in the old location. I know it has new owners but it had been a while since we had been in. I always order P8 pho with sliced beef. The broth that use to shine was very under impressive. My husband lived the C13 which has crispy egg roll, bbq pork, bbq shrimp, rice, pho broth and sweet chili sauce. The sauce was like water with little flavor. Both pork and shrimp had hardly any flavor. Plus the food was lukewarm. My pho had been out for a while before the other plate showed up. Finally got waiters attention and complained and he stated would recook. Came back out with no additional flavor but it was a bit warmer. We had taken an out of town friend with us and he stated he would not come back as food not worth the time. I refused to pay for the C13 as it was not eaten. Told the waitress we had eaten here for years but would not be back. I hope you have a better experience or stick with the pho. read more

I had the Vermicelli/Bun with Grilled Prawns & B.B.Q Pork and it was as good as I've eaten anywhere. My wife who does not like Vietnamese food asked if they could make steamed vegetables, a non-menu item, and she loved it. Traveling through Eureka for work. One of the ladies loves Vietnamese food and picked this place which was close to our hotel. I ordered Pad Thai (which maybe was my mistake, as this is Vietnamese food, not Thai). The food was served like a plate of slop. It was full of sauce that appeared to be brown cornstarch. The rice noodles were overcooked, with no egg, no chives, just crumbled tofu rather than cubes of fried tofu. In addition, the peanuts were "shavings" and had no crunch texture at all. The peanuts looked like flakes of salt. I think the worst part is we got no check(s) to pay. As were waited for our checks, we were told to go to the register to pay. According to the menu, my Pad Thai was 10.95, however, my total was $21.31. Hummmm, I questioned it, and they passed me to another employee. This employee was hard to understand, so I thought maybe I was incorrect about the cost of my order. I paid for it, came back to my hotel, and looked up the menu. I was correct, my order was $10.95. I'll go back tomorrow if I can with my schedule. But this will be the last time I leave without a written or printed check. read more

We arrived at the restaurant and immediately our orders were taken. What was shocking was that we received our orders in less than two minutes. It was obvious that it was not freshly made, the chicken was dry and the noodles which should have sauce on them we're dry and chewy. They obviously did not make this order fresh, but microwave our dinners. Big disappointment. She also got the order wrong and when we explained that to her, all she did was smile and walk away. I came here for the first time the other night with my friend for dinner. We decided to share the bbq pork spring rolls with peanut sauce to start. The rolls came out cut so it was incredibly easy to share them. The rolls were really fresh with soft noodles, lettuce, little bit of mint, and the pork. I was expecting large chunks of bbq pork but it appeared to be dried shredded pork instead. The flavor was still good but it was not what I was expecting. What I was expecting would have been better. I ordered the P2 pho in small. The sizes come small, large, and x-large. A small is a decent size for a small and I was full after. The P2 had the steak, flank steak, brisket, tripe, and tendon. I always add all the veggies- bean sprouts, jalapenos, basil and squirt the lime juice over. I don't think the flavor profile is the same without the veggies and lime juice. The meats and veggies were all fresh. I was happy to see that there was a good amount of meat in my bowl and it was all cut very nicely. As for the pho broth, I thought it was good. It's not the best I have ever had, but then again no one makes it quite like mom does. I would come back here again. I really want to try the thai portion of their menu. read more

My first time here was a great experience - I can't believe that all this time I've just been passing it by on the 101. The service is prompt, the portions are filling, and I can honestly attest that the pho at this restaurant is the best pho I've had in Humboldt County. Not to mention that they also serve a strong yet delicious Thai tea, which I am appreciative of. The menu has a range of options, including some Thai dishes. If ordering pho, you have the option of ordering a small, large, or extra large bowl, all of which are priced very appropriately. My pho ga had plenty of meat in it, which I'm grateful for considering that the past few times I've ordered pho at other restaurants they have skimped on the protein. Everybody at our table enjoyed their meals and I look forward to returning for some more delicious pho and tea. This is the worst Vietnamese rest. I've ever eaten at. The pho soup I ordered had 2 large clumps of noodles stuck together and when the waiter could finally find time to come by our table after serving us, which by the way there were only 3 tables with other patrons at the time, His response was, sorry. Didn't offer a new bowl or a discount or removal of it from the bill. Also, in case you weren't aware, in proper Vietnamese restaurant's the fried eggrolls are supposed to come with lettuce leaves to wrap them in as well as mint leaves and shredded cucumber, carrots and pickled jicama. This place charges you extra for 3 lettuce leaves and you get none of the rest. They are also stingy with lime for their pho soup. The service is also horrible. This place is a joke! read more

Vietnamese restaurant with "Pho" in its name so you think it should be good pho. Negative. Maybe the other food is good but I got the pho and man was it horrible. Pho pretty much relies on the broth and the broth tasted like it was at least 2 days old and it was really heated. The rice noodles were soggy and chewy at the same time. The meat wasn't bad it didn't seem like there was anything with the meat but everying else was awful. Again maybe the other food it good but the Pho definitely wasn't. I love Pho y'all. I got the steak bowl and it was so good! The restaurant is a nice roomy place. They bring you water with cucumber in it and a menu when you are seated. They have pho, curry and some other dishes. They have beef chicken and seafood options for the pho. For me I'm sad that they seafood dishes don't offer shrimp otherwise highly recommend. read more
