As someone who grew up not so far from Glen Burnie, I have driven past Gino's countless times. And I'll be real with you: I've always thought it was kinda sketch. No shade, but just always kinda looked abandoned / empty from the outside in passing. Last night, however, I had a hankering for onion rings. And not the beer battered or bread crumb kind; specifically the hand battered kind they used to have at Popeyes or at TGI Fridays in the 90s. The kind that's super crumbly and has little crunchy bits and craggles. So, scrolling through Doordash, I stumble upon the beauties they serve at Gino's. When I tell you these were the crispiest, most seasoned, delicate, crunchiest onion rings I've had, I mean it. Truthfully. My god. Sure I might have paid extra because it was Doordash *and* because I paid a long distance fee (Gino's is about 10 miles away from where I live in Arnold), but I would *gladly* pay extra to have this delivered to my house. Like... even not piping hot due to the travel time these onion rings slapped. I also got the "super Gino's burger" -- not gonna lie, the menu is a tad confusing online and maybe the experience is easier to discern between this and the regular "big Gino" in person at the restaurant. However, the patties are cooked to order and they use real beef. Tasted like a burger you would get at a family cookout with all the fixings and not a generic fast food burger. I also appreciate that they took the time to read the special requests on my order which means the service there is top notch. I look forward to eating here in person in the future and am adding this to my list of hometown gems. read more

This is Gino's totally reimagined. With the exception of the Gino giant it's totally different from the Gino's that you remember from the 60s and 70s. However I must say some of the changes are worth mentioning. There are so many flavors of milkshakes there's no way that you would run out of choices. But burger prices tend to be high at $4.44 for a thin hamburger with ketchup relish lettuce and tomato. The roll was too big and dense for the hamburger as the patty only filled about 2/3 of the roll. So you are left with a lot of bread and no burger. They do also now offer fried shrimp so there are alternatives to burgers. A positive note - on the five or six visits I have had the staff is always very friendly and the orders are accurate. read more

Middle of the line restaurant, we had some fried food thru the drive thru during 2021 and haven't been back since cuz nothing really stuck out to us. Plz give enough sauces when customers ask. Their milkshakes are light and really whipped so it's a fluffier shake instead of thick and creamy. I prefer these so that's why we rated them middle. Great onion rings at a reasonable price. I don't know where to get real fried onion rings since Popeyes no longer makes them. This is my go to place for onion rings now. I love the three chicken strips. Sometimes I get the buffalo strips, but the sauce can be a little too spicy for me. They give you three generous pieces. I can only eat half at a meal. I love the blue cheese dressing with it. Excellent service too. They've remembered my order every time I stop by even when I'm in a different vehicle. This is a great place to get shakes. Be sure to set aside time to wait. On our first visit, I ordered fried chicken and was told that it would take 20 minutes. I changed my order to a chicken sandwich and still waited for... 20 minutes. The line wasn't long but the time to wait was. The peanut butter and chocolate shake was alright. The 2nd time I was wiser and stuck with a shake and fries. It only took 19 minutes. I learned that the food will be fresh, as I recovered from a burnt tongue. The black and white shake was tasty. My youngest requested a shake. I had to consider whether I had time and patience for this visit. She earned it. This time we waited, though there was NO line. We waited for someone to take our order. We drove around to see if they were open. Of course at 8:22, they were. We went back to order and finally ordered one shake and went on our way. I went to Ginos because I had a burger craving. Well I'm glad I did! We ordered 2 of the Gino cheeseburgers as-is, onion rings and cheese fries, & also got a kids cheeseburger meal. I hate to say this but the secret sauce on the Gino burger tastes like the sauce you get on a burger at that place w/ the golden arches lol. The burger tastes soooo much better though! The food was nice and hot, and you could tell it was freshly prepared. $21 tab. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 though because the milkshake machine was down and I REALLY wanted a shake, and even though it's a restaurant that offers drive thru, I don't know if we can classify it as "fast food". I remember everyone getting all excited when Gino's was coming back to the Baltimore area. I thought I'd be blown away by the food. I wasn't. The two of us ordered the Classic Gino's Giant combo with fries as well as a Buffalo Chicken Wrap and Onion Rings (which the cashier automatically turned into a combo meal without me asking for that. Deduct one star for silent upselling). The burgers seemed pretty small to me and the onion rings were very thin and limp with the kind of batter that flakes off easily. The two young lady's that was working there never said hello or welcome to Gino's or said someone will be with you. One girl just walk pass and went to the drive through window. 2 stars because the shrimp was good; however the tenders were absolutely horrible. My teenagers refused to eat them and they eat practically all fast food. The tenders tasted as if they were old and had no flavor at all. I purchase 9 tenders which were a waste of money. Threw all 9 away. This place couldn't never get my money. Literally, they have a kid size serving as "regular" The burgers were (over) greasy & small w/ an over buttered bun. There wasn't much FLAVOR to be enjoyed, just fast food enough to fill you up. Can't believe I just happened to drive by this place. I literally have not seen a Gino's since I was a child in the late 60's early 70's. They were the one's who introduced "Kentucky Fried Chicken" to the Delmarva region. Then a major lawsuit and a big Bru hahaha caused them to shut their doors. Now, 4 decades later... they're back! Since this is my first visit after so long... I have to say that I find the 50's music and motiff somewhat appealing. The food is sourced from local area farms and does not taste preserved or over processed. That is a nice change from the grease laden burgers of typical fast food. There are a number of "Retro" restaurants that are about as much like the original as a bowling ball is like a boomerang. I am happy to say the Gino Giant is pretty much as I remembered it. It was juicy, tasty, freshly cooked, and delicious. The Glen Burnie location is undergoing major renovation inside so even with the COVID-19 restrictions lifted they are only offering drive-through service until possibly July. No matter, the food was hot and tasty and highly enjoyable. The only issue was that my son and I both asked for Old Bay salt on the side and it was forgotten. Ollie's Trolley at 12th & D Streets NW in Washington DC is also offering the real McCoy, the Ollie Burger. They have numerous pieces of nostalgia spread throughout the place, which is enough to drive a trivia buff crazy. They have organic beef and they offer a variety of steaks and other dishes along with burgers, dogs, and fries. Some Marriott hotels offer the Mighty Mo sandwich, which is the original double decker burger with special sauce. Their pricing is definitely not retro, though. At about $10 I passed on their MIghty Mo. Given their often crappy service and less-than-satisfactory food I could not see parting with that much money for a probably disappointment. Somewhat of a step up from McDonald's or BK. Stopped here to try Gino's out because people say it's pretty good for fast food. I was actually surprised at the quality of food we ordered single patties with fries & onion rings and I was surprised how good the burgers actually were the patty's were a tad small but delicious they also offer a variety of toppings I had grilled onions & mushrooms and my girlfriend ordered the same with jalapeño and grilled onions. The thing I like most is all the food was cooked to order and brought to the table. The fries were hot and fresh and the onion rings were real onions battered and fried. I'd recommend this place to anyone it would be great for kids they have a decent variety of burgers & chicken sandwiches as well as a few seafood items it doesn't look like much from the outside but once you get your food you will be satisfied you definitely get your money's worth here. read more
