Your macaroni tasted disgusting : Be make sue that it taste like macaroni and cheese and not more Ike macaroni salad. It only had cheese on the top. Please make your food out of love. This place has been renovated. I've been here so many times to pick up food for others but never ordered. I wanted a roti so bad. I finally went here and they were closed. Even though they were closed the owner opened the shop and still let me order my food! The owners Ms. Ann and her husband are the sweetest Caribbean people. Anytime I've gone in this shop whether is morning noon or night they have the same pleasant demeanor. From the moment you walk in they greet you like they are happy to serve their customers. It is such a turn off to walk into an establishment and the person serving my food has an attitude. Like they don't want to be there. It makes me want to turn around and spend my money elsewhere. You can not serve my food from the hands of bad vibes, sorry not sorry! Gives me the impression that none of this was prepared with genuine love. And what I'm putting in my belly matters. As well as were I choose to spend my dollar. I got the veggie roti and the curry shrimp roti because I couldn't decide. And glad I did! I wish I read the reviews prior to coming here. It painfully obvious this place is a Hit or MISS. As all the reviews are 5 stars (older reviews) or 1 star (more recent reviews). It's possible the chef has changed. Unfortunately, during my first time dining it was a definite miss. The roti skin was so thick and unflavored. The oxtail was only seasoned with sugar. Smh. Very oily and little to no gravy. I've seen this place for years and never went inside. I didn't have time to go to Feroza's on Burke so I figured why not support another small business (bad idea). My stomach was upset in the middle of the night. I could not sleep. It made me question the cleanliness of the restaurant. *None of the staff had on mask. * None of the chefs had on hair nets * I witness a glove be reused So many red flags. I would advise you to go elsewhere because a visit from the health department is needed at this establishment. Although they truly deserve a 1 star they were very polite which is important in customer service so the 2 star it is. Last, Sadly, they do not practice/enforce social distancing for themselves or their customers. In a tiny space designed for 1 had 4 customers squeezed in. So I read the reviews before I went here. I wasn't expecting much. While ordering my meal I saw a guy in the kitchen cutting open a pumpkin. He took the knife and scratch his back with it then continued to cut the pumpkin. Even though that was disgusting. I proceed to order a doubles. The server brought out two pieces of thick dark yellowish orange bread. I'm from Trinidad and that is not how doubles looks. I began to eat it. I tried cutting it because it was hot. Let's just say I almost broke the plastic knife. It was hard as rock. The food has little flavor. Doesn't taste like an authentic island food. I can taste that this food sits over night. What a find! We tried this West Indian take out spot through Seamless and have since come back many times because their food is so good! The roti is perfect but I'm not a huge fan of the puri. Not a problem though coz I'm perfectly happy ordering either roti or rice. My fiance loves getting the chicken roti while I am constantly craving their curry goat. So good! I found this restaurant through yelp. I am always looking for a roti shop. I live upstate near Middletown NY and there are none. I normally have to go to Brooklyn for roti. I ordered a shrimp roti and doubles. I also used grub hub for the first time, both experiences were satisfying. The shrimp roti was very good with a lot of shrimp and was like an extra large serving. I ordered 4 doubles because they usually sell out fast and by the time I get to the restaurant in bklyn they're gone. I had doubles for snack and lunch the next day. BTW doubles are two pieces of cooked round flat dough with crushed Chick peas and some kind of curry sauce. The main problem I had was that the roti and doubles were not tender they were too thick, heavy, and oily. Also the boneless chicken for the roti and channa for the doubles was bland. This is now one of my favorite restaurants around! I order the vegetable roti and it's incredible! The flavors of the vegetables are delicious and compliment each other very well! The roti is always cooked to order and always soft!! The portions for the price are amazing and most times i can't even finish it because it's so large!!! I really hate to give bad reviews but the doubles were the size of pancakes and the channa and potato filling had this weird onion taste. I literally took one bite and had to throw it out. These are not your usual doubles. This needs to be mentioned because when you hear the word doubles you automatically imagine the delicious Trinidadian street food and that is not what is served here! Now on to the roti. The potato was the same onion tasting curry potato that was in the doubles, the chicken was very stringy and pink.
