I've been wanting to make a visit for a long time and they didn't disappoint. I heard about the pepper shrimp and most places I've tried it fell to deliver the spice. Well not only was the pepper shrimp spicy but it was the best I've ever had. The shrimp was so big plumped and juicy. I didn't expect it to be nicely coated with such delicious flavor. My mouth is still watering as I write this review. I paid a little over $17, but it didn't bother me because it was fresh shrimp and veggies and of the amount of food I received was a lot. I mean they could have threw in a free small beverage to go along with it, but I wasn't mad, because this is NYC. I've paid higher prices for food that had less amounts and not even worth the price, but anyway I digress. The restaurant is quite small but big enough for you to stay and dine if you wanted. Along with great customer service, and delicious food a girl couldn't ask for anything more. Not to mention they were playing music to bop your head along with. I don't know if I would return for anything else on the menu right away because I would be hooked to buying the pepper shrimp again. When I get past that I would try something else. Overall, my meal was five stars but since I've only had one amazing item, and I don't know yet If it would be consistent , Im giving them four stars. I think they are worth visiting. The chicken had a bone, and as I ate, it fell apart, which told me it was overfried. Next, I tried the Chicken with Lo Mein, and the noodles were overcooked and lacked flavor. The chicken was good and tasted like baked chicken. It had good flavor, but it wasn't out of this world. My daughter had the Jerk Chicken Sliders, and she said they were okay. She said she tasted the Jerk flavor, but the chicken lacked flavor. I'm not sure if they were having an off day, but if I'm in the area, I would give them another tryout. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received from Carifesta. We have been loyal customers for a long time and used to eat there frequently because we genuinely loved the food, so this experience was especially upsetting. I placed a large order for a farewell lunch for my coworkers, originally scheduled for pickup at 12:00 PM. When our event was moved to 5:00 PM, I contacted them and asked if I could pick up the order around 2:00 PM instead. I arrived around 2:30 PM. When we went to serve the food around 6:00 PM, we discovered that the rice was not properly cooked and had a very bad odor and a strange, stringy texture everything else was fine. This was extremely disappointing, especially since this was a special lunch for my coworkers and it would be the last time seeing some of them. I called the restaurant that same day and again the following day, but no one answered. I eventually brought the rice back to the restaurant, hoping they would at least acknowledge the issue and offer some type of credit. Instead, I was told they could not replace it or offer any credit and that the problem was supposedly caused by the way I stored the rice. I explained that the food went directly from the restaurant, into my air-conditioned car, and to the event. The response I received was very disappointing. Even more frustrating, the manager would not speak with me directly and had the chef tell me that they were not willing to do anything to resolve the situation. What bothers me most is not simply that there was a problem with the food--mistakes can happen. It's the way the situation was handled and the lack of customer service afterward. As a loyal customer who supported this business regularly, I expected much more. It's sad that this is how a longtime customer was treated. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning. Customer service matters, especially when something goes wrong, and I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously. read more

I've visited here twice, which on both visits I got the chicken fry rice which was amazing. I had it the first time and I had to come back second time to make sure my first visit wasn't a fluke, the order reminds me of Caribbean Chinese food. Luckily the person taking orders explained the menu, for someone who orders chicken fry rice from a Chinese restaurant, i expect chucks/ pieces of chicken in the rice but that wasn't case, I was given vegetable fry rice and quarter chicken chopped up and placed on the rice, which i absolutely loved, then I ask for shrimp fry rice and she explained it's shrimp that's cooked in the rice and not placed on top of the rice. I'm always skeptical ordering from new places on Uber eats, but this Jerk Chicken Fried Rice is perfection on a plate!! The fried rice has to be top 5 best fried rices I've had. I have been up and down White Plains Road in search of the best Jerk Chicken and had not found anything that held my attention since when Arawak used to be the spot to go to before they closed. Looking for something different to eat other than the traditional Friday night take out, I stumbled upon the Yelp review of Carifesta which offers a fusion of West Indian and Asian dishes. I cannot more highly recommend the Jerk Chicken Fried Rice meal. Rarely, do I order any dish that I do not put some type of hot sauce on. I am glad I tasted before adding any sauce because the rice was perfectly seasoned and moist. And the most exciting part of my Carifesta experience is that finally... finally I had the Spicy Jerk Chicken I was looking for. It is not drenched in sauce, and not dull in flavor... This Jerk Chicken has just the right amount of heat and kick. I will most definitely be back there. I came here really unexpectedly with my family because I wanted to try Guyanese Chinese cuisine. We ordered the jerk chicken fried rice, roasted duck fried rice, and house fried rice which comes with beef and shrimp. It took approximately twenty minutes to receive our food which was good considering that everything is made fresh. The woman in the front is super nice too. As for the food, I LOVED the jerk chicken. It was spicy and flavorful. I've tried a lot of jerk chicken recipes that aren't as spicy as I like, many are too sweet for me. But carifesta probably has the best jerk chicken I've ever tried. My mom loved the house fried rice too, she said it's completely different than the fried rice you get at your local Chinese spots. Only thing I wasn't a fan of though was the roast duck. I know duck is a very fatty meat but the roast duck had a weird smell to it. I probably wouldn't order that next time I come here. I'd maybe opt for the shrimp or the jerk chicken again. This is the best Guyanese/Chinese style food in NY!!!! -REAL DEAL ALERT! I love this place. Their curry goat is amazing, but call early or else it will be finished. The jerk chicken is mouth watering! The pepper shrimp is another one of my favorites. And of course their Chicken fried rice is a MUST! It is a very nice family owned restaurant. I have knows the owner for years, until he opened another location in Queens. Now his daughter picked right up where he left off, and I must say..she's doing great! Friendly people, yummy food.
