I came here around 7:30pm on a Tuesday. This spot was not too busy, but I was one of three groups here. I really enjoy coming here with small groups of friends because of how cozy the space feels. There's soft lighting and lots of wood, and it feels good to meet up here in the winter to read books or chat with friends. I've been here a small handful of times, and I can't say enough good things. The cider is delightful! I adore the ice ciders-they're made from frozen apples and result in stronger drinks with a crisper taste (feel free to fact check me!). I've never had food here, as we are typically killing time here before heading to izakaya minato. If cider is not your thing, there are other delicious drinks. I had one friend try some cocktails and I liked the taste of the Rhonda's rita. There's cider, beer, vermouth, g&t, wine, and some cocktails. I definitely recommend coming here either alone or with friends, as long as you want to treat yourself to a nice drink. I have to agree with previous critiques. Poor, rude, snotty service just spoils a brilliant location and concept. Love the space. Decent overpriced food. And while we would expect to pay more for this corner of Portland, just please deliver it with respect and warmth. read more

I really wanted to love Anoche. Here's what was great: The ambience/decor/vibe/interior--truly such a unique building (why is the door unbelievably cool!?). It felt Mediterranean? Moroccan? Unsure, but I felt like I was transported from the streets of Portland to a seaside town in Europe the minute I stepped through the doors. The cider selection (cider is not always my thing, but they have plenty for everyone) What was okay: My cocktail (the Maine Mami) - tasted like a mix between an Aperol Spritz and a Negroni, with the olives of a dirty martini. It was good, but I wasn't wowed. What was meh: The food menu. Just a whole lot of overpriced combinations of charcuterie. Anoche's space presents as a restaurant, but it's really just a bar that happens to have some food, and that food won't be filling but will drain your wallet. The service. Not attentive, slightly standoffish. Wouldn't *not* recommend this place, but most likely won't be back, either. read more

I love this spot and don't go nearly enough. Its got such a unique tap list bringing in Ciders from Spain. The cheese platters are a delight. Last night they were serving up hot ciders which was very welcome with the windchill! The staff is LOVELY and kind and I always feel safe and warm and cozy here. Super cute spot. The only thing I would mention is that they dont really have a ton in the way of non-alcoholic so if you have non drinkers in your party its a bit of a bummer. read more

Trendy cider and spirits bar on the East End. Several ciders on tap and in the bottle available, most I have ever seen from a singular location. Cool vibes with great proximity to other fun spots. Nice patio area as well. read more

Drink Review Only: I never drink cider but was next door at Oxbow and figured why not give it a try. I LOVED the limited edition Cider they had called the Edens Harvest Press. I basically downed the first one and had to obviously order a second pour. Apparently anything Edens is great so if you're looking to try cider from Anoche, give that a try. There was a decent amount of outdoor seating but no heat lamps yet as of 11/6. However, that whole row of breweries/distilleries are all friends so I'm sure you could snag a table from one of their neighbors with heat lamps. read more

So nice we came back the next day. Deliciously curated list of ciders. There wasn't a single drink we didn't love. Mostly did cider but the gin and tonic was also amazing and smelled like Christmas. Bar is beautiful and ambiance on point. The music was also great, a mix of chill hip hop and house, like Anderson Paak vibes. This is up there for one of my favorite Portland bars. Conveniently located near a couple other great places (Oxbow, duck fat shack, Terlingua). These places were bumping but Anoche was a bit slower. Silly people, don't miss out on this bar! Anoche is ok, but I'm probably not the target audience, as I don't love hard cider. It's also another pricey offering in a city that's filled with them. For me, it's exhausting. But first, the good stuff... I think Anoche is the perfect atmosphere for this neighborhood. It's dim and classy. And with two bars and multiple tables, it can hold crowds, while also working as a fantastic date spot. The gin and tonics come in a giant goblet and taste great. There's dozens of ciders to try in bottle and draft in addition to wine and beer. Now, the bad stuff... Each new Portland opening must try to outdo each other for poor value. Most of the draft ciders are 8 or 12 ounce servings, for $7-$9. Maybe the high alcohol percentages make up for the smaller servings? Nope. They primarily fall in the 5%-6% range. The gin and tonics, while large, tasted weak, and are all priced at $14. Also, it's curious to me that the only cocktails offered are gin based when ten steps away is Hardshore Distillery. Hardshore has better gin cocktails, with a housemade product, at much cheaper prices. The food menu is interesting. All I tried was the deviled egg (notice the singular) for $3.50, with chorizo a $2 surcharge. This was one of the worst devil egg(s) I've ever had. It's non traditional, which is fine, but extremely messy and it just didn't work. Anoche will have its audience. It's a classy joint with good atmosphere. But it's not for me. We visited Cocktail Mary, the other new offering nearby, right afterwards and strongly preferred there. read more

I've always been a beer fan, bourbon fan, and whiskey fan, and gin has not normally my jam. This place changes that completely. The gin and tonic's are absolutely perfectly balanced, the atmosphere is great, and the ciders they carry on tap are amazingly plentiful. We came for the drinks, but the food looked and smelled amazing. We will definitely be back with our appetites next time! Never heard of a vermouth flight before but what a delightful experience! All four in my flight were unique and delicious. My wife had a cider flight as well and enjoyed it. We arrived at 4pm on a Friday shortly after they opened and before it got busy, and that was very nice. I also enjoyed some of the tracks on their background playlist. I LOVED this place. Stopped by because of the decor in the front and I was not disappointed! My sister and I tried the Rose cider and after one cup we fell in love! Everyone is super nice and the area is always clean. In case you get hungry there's food all over the area but i 100% recommend YOU try the cider here if you are around. You will not regret it! Anoche is probably not just my favorite place in Portland, but also in general in quite a while (coming from NYC). Every bite - from the meats and cheeses - and sip - to the ciders, cocktails, and wines - we had was unbelievable. The hospitality of the owners was second to none. I've been dying to visit Anoche for quite some time but the pandemic prevented us from visiting. Recently we had the chance to visit Portland and made sure to put anoche on our list of stops though of course it was the coldest weekend this fall we made the best of it and sat on their modest, heated patio. It was hard to get the full experience, but I would definitely come back! I can't wait to visit and sit inside and enjoy all the cider they have to offer. The location actually has a great atmosphere and having cider on draft is something that Portland has been lacking for quite some time. A beautiful space rounded out with unique beverage offerings and a fun menu of equally unique small plates. I went with four friends and we ordered one of each of the menu options. The standouts for us were the Anchovies, the Deviled Egg (got reordered several times over) and the Stuffed Peppers. We also had the Meat and the Seafood Paella. Both were nice sharable options, even between five people (Granted this was at the tail end of eating through the entire pintxos menu). What was most exciting to me about the dishes was that it kept being brought up how well paired to the beverages they were. Clearly a lot of thought went into doing so. Not every dish on the menu was a home run for everyone at the table but, overall, we were very happy, quite full and decided the menu complimented the space very well. It seems like some of the other reviews here may have been posted by folks that had a very different expectation of what would be offered at Anoche. We spent three hours there that night and it felt to me we were gathered at a (very talented) friends home somewhere very far away. All in, we spent $340 (after tip) between the five of us, ate and drank everything and are excited to go back. read more
