This review is a bit overdue, as I planned to write it a while ago but forgot. Opps, but here…read moregoes... Did I stumble here by chance? Absolutely not. I was brought here by my friend (and her family) as she recommended the place, and she came pretty often. I would say that my friend sometimes has interesting taste, but so far her recommendations have been really solid. Since my friend brought me here, I just took whatever she recommended, as she took command of all ordering. This was great for me, since I opened the menu and was like... wow, I don't even know what is good. So I just sat back and *attempted* to listen to what was going on. We ended up getting hot tea with lemon, beef skirt kebab, lamb kebab, samsa, cheburek with meat, and a few other things I'm not quite sure about. She just ordered, and honestly, I just ate everything she threw at me. The samsas were delicious! They were super flaky, and the meat was well seasoned and super juicy. The samsa were also quite hefty, they fill you up if you eat too many. It reminded me of the homemade ones my friend used to give me. Next up, the cheburek with meat. This was a first for me, and my friend said it was a must get. She was completely right... we ended up getting a 2nd order of this. It was super light, compared to everything else we ordered, as it is only filled with a bit of meat. The dough is fried to perfection, it was a bit crispy, soft, and didn't feel oily. It came with what I assume is a tomato sauce, which pairs well with it. We also got a few of the beef and lamb kebabs, and they were also delicious. The beef tasted better than the lamb, but my friend says that is just depends on the day. So I guess it depends on who is cooking that day? But the beef was super juicy, and it was well seasoned. The lamb was also good, but it just wasn't as yummy as the beef skirt. Overall, I really like everything here and I look forward to my next trip back to NY.

The best kebab I've ever had. The beef was soooo juicy! But-…read morelive music on a Sunday night was VERY LOUD. I've never had music that loud played at a restaurant, especially in a "family-styled" restaurant. Food also does take a while because of grilling. I will be back, but not on a weekend.

It is much more casual than Shashlichnaya, and I found the food for both places to be about equal. Love both places! For a special occasion, Shashlichnaya is the place to go. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. On this visit, a group of 8 of us came to Shashlichnaya to celebrate a good friend's milestone birthday. We were all looking forward to the delicious food but what sealed the deal was the belly dancing! There is belly dancing on most nights, start around 8:45pm but not on all nights, so call ahead to inquire. The belly dancer tonight was wonderful; so friendly, so beautiful, so talented. (see my photos and video clips). What a fun evening! Our shared menu: Kebabs: lulya, lamb rib, veal liver & boneless chicken Shashlichnaya Salad Manty with meat Pelmeni with Lagman Soup Chebureki with potatoes Steamed Rice with veg. French Fries with mushrooms I really enjoyed all the food but there were two standout dishes: Manty with meat and Pelmeni with Lagman Soup. These were outstanding, and I would return just for these two items. The kebabs were really good; some better than others, but overall, very good. Surprisingly, the veal liver was a hit! Service and hospitality were fantastic! So friendly and accommodating. We were even able to bring our own birthday cake and liquor, with no additional service charge. I must add that the dining room was really beautiful (my photo really doesn't do it justice). I'm already planning on a return visit in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to go back! What a treat!
