Wheeler's is a pretty solid sports bar and restaurant! Some friends and I came here to watch Knicks Finals Game 3 and it got packed! So of course service was going to be a bit slow but we didn't understood. The drinks and food are decently priced. But my favorites were the buffalo wings and brownie cake with ice cream. Unassuming bar with modestly priced drinks. The service is prompt but bartenders are in their 50s or 60s and unnecessarily rude/crotchety. Asking for a lemon wedge after receiving a drinking is committing a cardinal sin of forcing unnecessary movement and will be met with snide comments regardless of how well someone was tipped or how politely asked. Bring a tube of Bengay and some treats to possibly have a different experience. I won't be returning. read more

Food is delicious and can put a lot of big name spots under the rug and the portions are big with a great price point. Drinks are equally as good. Service is great, I love when bartenders have eyes behind their heads and can communicate with sign language when they down thw other side of the bar. Ambiance? SEVERE FOOD POISONING ...AVOID THIS RESTAURANT! DO NOT EAT HERE. We visited this restaurant as a group of four on Saturday at 9 PM and ordered wings, nachos, quesadillas, and french fries. We believe the chicken poisoned us. All four of us spent the entire night violently vomiting. My fever spiked to 39°C forcing me to go to the hospital for emergency IV serum treatment. Over 24 hours later, we are still suffering. I have severe body aches, extreme weakness, and am still nauseous . This is not a simple stomach bug; this is severe food poisoning caused by their negligence. This restaurant plays with people's health. Their blatant disregard for basic food safety in the pursuit of profit is absolutely unacceptable. I am taking legal action. Do not make our mistake. Avoid this restaurant at all costs for your own well being. read more

I went to this restaurant on Saturday with a group of friends, and we all ended up with severe food poisoning afterward. Within hours, we started feeling sick -- nausea, stomach pain, fever, and weakness. My condition got so bad that I had to go to the emergency room to get an IV for dehydration and fatigue. This is absolutely unacceptable and shows a serious lack of hygiene and food safety standards. We went there expecting a pleasant meal and ended up dealing with days of sickness and medical bills. Clearly, something is very wrong with how their food is being handled or stored. It's shocking that a restaurant can operate under such unsafe conditions. Avoid this place at all costs. No meal is worth risking your health. I'm posting this to warn others before they go through the same terrible experience. read more

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how good this local bar is. While the bar itself is typical with cozy vibes, it's the food that you need to try here. Plus, the bartenders are friendly and attentive. Aside from the drinks, we got some food. We ordered the Buffalo Wings ($13.95 for 10pcs) and Pizza Bread ($7.50). The pizza bread is good, but you need to eat this hot or else it gets a bit soggy. But the buffalo wings are so large and juicy here slathered in sauce. It's hard to find something to eat even when there's so many options around, but for whatever reason, I landed on Wheeler's this night and thanks to other Yelpers, I decided to try the steak tid bits with fries which were delicious! The steak slices might have looked dry, but they were so tender and juicy. The garlic bread and cheese made it extra yummy and the fries were also really good! I also got the fried zucchini sticks which were good and had a decent sauce, but I was enjoying my tid bits so much that they kinda went to waste. Tried to eat them the next date toasting them up in the toaster oven, but it wasn't the same. The tid bits on the other hand heated up quite nicely for a yummy late night snack. Wow talk about disappointment. Wheelers used to be the go to spot for fajitas. Well obviously they left the recipe back in the 1990's. What an unmitigated disaster this order was!! It was a non flavored soupy mess. I kid you not. I wouldn't eat this even if it was free. I paid nearly $40 for the absolute worst fajitas I've ever had. When I say no flavor, I mean it. The vegetables looked and tasted like they were sitting around for a few days. Barely any meat and I'm still looking for the chicken lol. Shame on them to send that slop out. read more

My husband took me to Wheelers when we had just met. It became our go to place. He proposed to me there. We had my son's birthday there. We went back when that son turned 21. In Brooklyn visiting. Typically order from the same proven restaurants every time I'm here. This time decided to try wheelers. First thing I must say either they haven't realized there is inflation or that is all just a sham. Look at the prices on their menu. Nothing is cheap obviously but the prices are drastically more reasonable than at other places! Their portions are great. Ordered 2 types of wings, calamari, fried zucchini and the mixed seafood pasta dish. Considering we got this delivered the quality of food was on point. If we are at the restaurant it would have been even better. Seamless does seem to take quite a few fees for this place so that part isn't good but otherwise this is awesome to order from. I almost feel bad for the chef for the amount of seafood he had to stuff into their aluminum bowl and then close. That thing was ready to burst! But also packed pretty well. This has been a place that was on my radar but just never went and I thought to myself, what was I waiting for? This is truly a gem in Sheepshead bay. It has a the air of a local pub but with a nice restaurant feel as you walk deeper in the back. It's definitely a great place to take the family. Now to the service. We were seated promptly and the staff was super attentive without being overbearing. They were kind and professional. Let us take a few extra minutes to order. They never made us feel rushed and the food came out in a good time. The menu is a bit large but there are options for everyone and I appreciated the variety, personally. With a good mix of cocktails, beers both draft and bottles it'll make a great spot for a night out with some friends or just dinner. The poulet au champignon was delicious. Everything was cooked just right, the meat was juicy and not dry, the side of creamed spinach and mashed potatoes was a nice rich accompaniment. Needless to say they along with the side salad which was very fresh and the wonderfully cooked apps of wings, fried zucchini and mozzarella sticks I was totally satisfied. I look forward to coming back and trying the 16 oz Sirloin next and of course the measure of any good American fare, a good juicy burger. Only reason I could say it's a 4 is due to the portions. While it was fine for me there were some in my party that had to take a to go bag and it was just too much for them. Unfortunately sitting in the back we did have some flies around us at some point during our dinner which was not pleasant but I never felt unsafe eating my food. So - after many more visits here, I can only say that I love Wheeler's even more, & they are now tied with New Belacan Malaysian restaurant (which may or may not be located next to Soccer Tavern) as my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. They are not fancy - for that, we go to Michael's. But the food at Wheeler's REALLY rocks. In addition to their Buffalo wings (best of NYC), their burgers, sandwiches (tuna melt ), pastas, & salads are all awesome. The staff is super friendly & attentive, & clearly want people to feel at home, be happy, & have a good time. Their drinks pack a punch, & are reasonably priced. They also have a diverse jukebox w/ some great music. And to the craft beer snob that complained about their selection: considering that their crowd does not seem to care about craft beer, I can always find something interesting (traditional German beer) that I'm very happy with -! So you have a wing night, which draws a crowd, which turns a profit. Then you get a little greedy and you enforce a 20 wing per table rule at a time. I get it, it takes 35 minutes for new wings to come out of the kitchen. A bored sad customer will order another drink. "Hooray, profit!". If only the wings were something worth waiting for. Can you imagine the embarrassment of arriving with a full table of hungry friends and nibbling on three wings each? You're averaging 5.7 wings an hour. Unless you're into meth, I'd skip the trip, get a 4 piece from McDonald's, and brown bag a beer.
