I've been looking forward to this place opening for months. They took an old restaurant site that had serious problems and have renovated it into a nice, clean, modern place. They do not open until 7 AM, which in Memphis is late for breakfast places. We came at 7 AM, and were told that they weren't open yet. When we told them the time, they seated us anyway. Food was good, but the service was very slow. Our waitress was fine, but the kitchen took a long time getting food out. That was a surprise, since we were the only people in the restaurant for almost our entire meal. When we did leave over an hour later there were only four or five other people in the restaurant. I think that they will have trouble for a couple of reasons. They are located very close to well-established breakfast places that have a loyal following. And while the food is good, it is pricey for breakfast. This is definitely not a working man's place to stop on the way in. Because of the overpriced menu, I only give it two stars. I have just waited on a Sunday for 45 minutes, and there are still 7 parties ahead of me. I am leaving and I will not be back. A district manager once told me that the kitchen at this location is small, which is one of their big problems. I will continue to go to the Park Avenue Memphis location, but I will not be back to this Poplar Plaza location. It is not worth it! read more

Strongly recommended! Add yourself to the waitlist via Yelp on your way to get in a little quicker. Rick, the manager, sets the tone of the room - happy & attentive staff. Customer service is some of the best I've had. Shaun, our waitress & bartender today, was excellent as were others we could see and hear around the room. When we were waiting to be seated one of the waitresses asked if we could like a coffee while we waited - great touch! I had time to enjoy my coffee and then order a Bellini at the table. The check size was increased and so was my enjoyment. Walked about at $25 per person. Wonderful experience. Looking forward to revisiting and it'll be a regular spot for my sister who just moved to the area. read more

Joined wait list at 11:00 am. Arrived at 11:45 and checked in. Seated at 12:20. Placed order at 12:35. Waited 40 minutes for 2 Bloody Mary's. Food was not served until 1:25 pm. 5 tables that were seated more than 25 minutes minutes after us were served, ate, paid their check before our breakfast arrived. Asked to speak with the manager just to make him aware. He said he would check on it and we never saw him again. read more

I met a friend for brunch here Sunday morning. I was informed there would be an hour wait and it took about 45 minutes to be seated then at least another 5 or so minutes to be acknowledged by a waitress. Apparently you can reserve a spot online so I'll keep that in mind if I decide to return. I ordered city grits with cheese and bland doesn't even begin to describe it. There was literally NO seasoning at all not a single grain of salt or pepper was used in the making of those grits. I had to add my own. I also ordered the supreme omelet with potatoes which were both phenomenal. I don't know if the food was actually good or if the grits set the bar so low I was easily impressed by the meal. I think I'm willing to give it another try in the future on a less busy day. read more

There was a 30 min wait to be seated , which was understandable for brunch the week of Christmas. However, once seated with our 3 and 5 year olds we waited over 30 mins and not a single staff member came to the table to even take our drink order, let alone the food order. We got up and left and the lady who sat us told us to "have a good day and hope you enjoyed your meal" like we had actually eaten. She forgot that she sat us down 30 minutes prior. Here is my 1st and only review I've ever done. I downloaded this app just so I could warn people about how this is one of the most disorganized and unethical establishments I've ever been to. Today, 12/21, is my 20th birthday. Now I'm not one for really doing much on my birthday, but my family surprised me with going out to get a birthday brunch; which I was super excited for! My family and I arrived at the restaurant and reserved our table at exactly 10:02am-this is important. Now the place was packed, but they told us it would be a 20-30 minute wait so no problem at all! Not only did we NEVER GET SEATED and waited over an hour for a table, the staff told us after 40 minutes that larger parties had the priority. My mother checked with staff twice to confirm our reservation, only for staff to then proceed to allow people to walk in directly off the street to a table. Not only was the space tight and uncomfortable, food came out at a rate of two trays every ten minutes. Even though I was disappointed, I was more so frustrated with the fact that the staff lied and told my family that we, initially, had two parties in front of us when we got there and proceeded to continuously repeat that to us as over 10 group went ahead of us. First time going and was seated quicker than the 30 minutes they quoted us. Had to wait a great length for the breakfast. I ordered the Floridian omelet accompanied by grits and an English muffin. The omelet was pretty good. Wow factor didn't come in play at all. The grits were lumpy and tasted burnt. The English muffin was good with the strawberry jelly added. The price didn't reflect quality. I stayed over an hour after being seated waiting on food and check out. Much longer than anticipated. Probably won't return. read more

I put my family and I on the waiting list before we arrived. When I checked in at the hostess stand she said our table of 5 was ready. I go out to my car to get my children and when we get in the hostess says she doesn't actually have a table for us. So we wait as we watched other families come in and are able to be seated. The hostess eventually says she can seat us in a smaller table if we want. We accept only to wait an hour for our food that was overcooked and cold. I ordered a drink from the bar that never came. This place is only open from 7 til 2 so make sure to plan accordingly. They have an extensive menu and everything is available all day. I had the praline french toast and shrimp grits with gouda cheese. Both were really good and very filling! Don't expect lunch after this! You'll be full for a while. Their prices are reflective of what you'll find on the plate. You'll get a LOT of food so bring your appetite. I also got the lemon blueberry mimosa and that was good too! I'm excited to come back and check out other options on their menu. The ambiance plus the service is really nice rather you are looking for something quiet and intimate or something for kids. I understand being short handed but during the visit i was told there was a wait...fine. An hour late seated and waited for service. After finally getting our cocktails we placed the order. Other guest that arrived around the time with us had eaten and left. There was another table that arrived after us and they were eating. On 3 different occasions we were told our food was about to be plated. The food never made it. Once we decided to leave and walked to the counter we were told our food was being plated. 2.5 hours for only 2 cocktails...so disappointing. read more

We have dined at each of the two Another Broken Egg restaurant locations found in Memphis with highly satisfying results at each. However, the Highland Street location offers at least three times the space, which adds openness between tables and reduces the feeling of being too close to other diners. I dined with 3 others and we all agreed that the food options were not only unique and interesting but were deliciously satisfying. On this occasion I ordered the Lobster and Brie Omelette. It was a combination I had not experienced before but after enjoying it at Another Broken Egg I wonder why it is not a constant in better restaurants. We will definitely enjoy breakfast at this restaurant each time we are in the Memphis area. read more

Another great brunch here! I only have two complaints. I joined the waitlist on Yelp at 10:30 am. Someone in my party checked in at 11:20. I got a call around 11:30 from the restaurant. I arrived at noon and told the hostess I had joined the waitlist on Yelp and she gaslit me saying I was not on the list and nobody from the restaurant would've called me and maybe I was thinking of their other location on Park. After showing her my call log and the waitlist I had joined at 10:30 am, she magically found my name on the list. This is not the first time this happened to me eating here. We were seated in a reasonable amount of time and our waitress was great even though the restaurant was busy. I ordered the classic French toast, an extra side of breakfast potatoes, and a half order of beignets. Everything came out staggered which I had no issue with. The beignets came out last, and I noticed they were significantly smaller than the last time I dined there. I asked my waitress about the size and she was gracious enough to offer to send them back. I appreciated the offer but not wanting to make her job harder, I kept the beignets. The food was great and aside from check-in the service was great too! I will be back! read more

Apparently a very popular place to go! Nice crowd at lunch but easily seated. The menu is mainly breakfast food but there is a wide variety. To me, it is overpriced but you do get generous servings. No blueberries on top, The toast was so dry it was as if it was not French toast, but plain toast from a toaster. There were four of us and our meals did not come out together. The food is as good as Park Avenue, but the staff still need a little to work, especially the matre' d's that does the sitting assignment. It should be first come, first serve and also depending the number of people in the party. As soon as I came in, I was put in the waiting list and was asked if I don't mind dining out on the patio. I immediately decline dining out on the patio because it was a warm day. 10 minutes past by, they called me and said that my table is ready and it's outside. I immediately reminded them that I did not request for a table outside, my wife and I wanted to dine inside where it is a little cooler. My mom and I love coming here for brunch and we both adore the shrimp and grits. Good tip: ask for the gouda grits with it instead of normal. The benedict's are great as well.
