I chose Pet Resource Center of Kansas City over my local veterinarian because of the many positive…read morereviews I had heard. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. My cat was dropped off for a scheduled 8:00 AM spay appointment and was required to fast beginning at 10:00 PM the night before. I was instructed to return at 3:00 PM for pickup, but after arriving on time, I waited approximately 90 minutes while six customers who arrived after me received their cats first. Throughout the wait, I repeatedly asked for updates and was told someone would be "right out." It was not until I went inside and insisted on answers that I learned my cat's surgery had not even been performed yet!!! The procedure ultimately took place around 5:00 PM, nearly nine hours after her scheduled appointment time. Communication was poor throughout the entire process. There was also confusion regarding my bill, and I was initially charged for the wrong package. While I understand that delays can happen, customers deserve honest communication and timely updates, especially when their pets have been fasting all day and undergoing surgery. My cat is home and recovering, but the lack of organization, transparency, and respect for customers' time made this a very frustrating experience. Based on my experience, I would have chosen my local veterinarian instead.

My interactions with Pam started out promising, but deteriorated. Her website promised certain…read morefocus areas that my 12-week old pup needed help with, but through 2 sessions, few - if any - were covered. Then there was a multi-week gap in communication and eventually a text saying she didn't have the time or energy to help my pup out, all despite me having pre-paid for a 5 session pack. To make matters worse, she overcharged me by $100 for the pack. The only silver lining is that I was able to negotiate a partial refund. The whole experience soured me on Pam 4 Paws.

We purchased her puppy package for in-home training sessions with our French Bulldog, Greta. Not only did Pam teach us how to interact with her, but Greta LOVED her and learned so much from her visits. At only four months, Greta is now potty trained, comes on command, sits on command, gives, 'hi-fives,' is crate trained, started to learn how to go on walks with a harness, knows command, 'up,' and 'off,' can fetch, and we learned how to calm her when she gets over stimulated. She even began some skateboarding with her! Of course we have to put in the work to continue to in grain these things in a puppy, but I can't even begin to convey the wealth of knowledge Pam imparted on us, so that we could acclimate more into puppy life and so Greta fit into ours. Pam teaches the human as well as the dog giving you a wealth of information, going above and beyond so that you know why a dog does the things they do, how to manage the behavior, and how the dog will absorb the training. She eased my worries and I was pleasantly surprised how expertly she worked with little ones. I can't recommend her services enough.

When our family decided we were ready for a dog, we had several factors we needed to consider. We…read morehave a yard, but it isn't fenced-in. I used to get allergy symptoms around our Labrador mix in high school, but when I'm around my friend's German Shepherd nowadays, I'm ok. But I was leaning toward hypo breeds just in case. The biggest factor in our decision was that: we wanted a rescue doggo, and preferably not exactly puppy age but just a bit older. So I looked at and monitored animal shelters all over NE Kansas. I quickly noticed that dogs who got close to fitting our criteria were very quickly adopted or were considered high profile animals that demanded much higher adoption fees (into the hundreds) which was a major letdown. But then I expanded my search to Prairie Paws in Ottawa, KS, and I'm so glad I did. Not only was there a variety of healthy, adorable pets, but the facility is new and inviting. It's next door to a veterinarian clinic. You notice as you pull up that you're greeted by a dog run-type area. And the staff and volunteers truly love everything about what they do. The dog we chose fit all of our criteria and more. I mean, he walks in his hind legs. That's just bonus! We noticed how much he loved the staff, and that spoke volumes to the level of care he received in the short amount of time he spent there. All of our questions were answered patiently and thoroughly. While our family was going through this adoption experience, we noticed that Prairie Paws does a ton of events for the animals, volunteers, and community. Once I got on their social media, I noticed that they promote the work they do in order to be awarded grant money to expand that. I was so impressed. We all were. As soon as we got our new little guy home, he stood on his hind legs and looked at me as if to ask if it was ok to get on the couch. I said that it was and my son patted the space next to him. Then he hopped up on the couch, promptly plopped down, gave a huge sigh, and fell right so sleep. He knew he was home.
