Main varieties of fish, ora king salmon is the best
Nandi S.

The ora king salmon is to die for. It melts easily and does wonders in a nice pan. It's the least smelling fish as well, and perfect for fish biryani. Do yourselves a favor and get that beautiful fish. It's so worth it.

It's been a bit since I was last here- and for good reason. Years ago, I mostly saw frozen packaged seafood and very little fresh. And even then, I was somewhat ok with the frozen Lobster Tails I'd gotten. But part me was also thrown off about buying frozen. Well- things have changed. Hubby stopped by right at the last minute before closing a couple of Saturdays ago and started a conversation with ANS' owner. He picked up 2 frozen Tuna Steaks, a couple of live Lobsters and a whopping 2+1/2lb bag of Steamers just because the owner was closing up shop. What's more, hubby only spent about $50 and change!!! The owner gave my hubby a quick rundown of ANS' seafood business, his Greek background and the rest- is history. ANS Seafood Inc., is slightly off 287 on Rt 9A in Elmsford. Different arrangement from last time I was here- except glass upright freezers with lots of frozen seafood (Tuna Burgers, Shrimp, etc)- are now on the right with glass caddy corner countertops with fresh seafood- straight up. And a room on the left with metal shelves and whatnot. I'm impressed (despite their layout) with their current seafood selection. And I will admit- both frozen Tuna Steaks and live Lobsters hubby had gotten a few weeks ago- were in fact very good! The place looks a bit out of place but I guess, looks aren't everything. Good selection with the basics and very good prices (compared to my fave Seafood Market in PC). So far...ANS seems to be working- close to home.

Fresh seafood

Tried this spot during a search for some fresh trout only to find there were other options. Trout and whiting were not available so I went with the salmon instead. Easy to get to, in, out, and around. Excellent customer service.

I've tried many other seafood retailers in Westchester and ANS always has the best, freshest selection.

Mint has been a go to for me for over ten years now. The Belgo-Moroccan owner sets a high standard…read morefor cuisine here and you won't be disappointed by anything you eat here. The pro tip here is to get a pound of the candied pecans to take home with you, they are life affirming. Are you disappointed by the dearth of decent cheese in the United States? Well Mint has a panoply of incredible cheeses from Europe and the charcuterie and cheese plate gives you an almost indecent amount of cured meats and stunning cheeses with freshly toasted baguette and a generous portion of Membrillo for a very reasonable (in today's economy) $29. You might be tempted by the Moroccan Chicken, and you should be, it is delicious but for me they do a really amazing Steak Frites that is cooked to perfection. I ordered mine "à point" or medium rare and it was absolutely as advertised. My husband had the Cuban on gluten free bread and was very happy with it. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice, it is very warm and inviting with cool decoration and big vats of marinated olives and other delicious mezze, or Kamio to be nationally accurate. Check out the cheese selection in my photos, it really is S tier.

There were daily specialist listed by the hostess stand. Everything sounded delicious. We were seated quickly at a cute little table. Our server, Brian, provided us water quickly. I ordered the fries with the Cubano Panini with Porchetta, smoked ham, pickles, Swiss cheese, tomatoes and garlic aioli. It was delicious. I hope to go back the next time I visit Tarrytown.

The food is consistently good, the cocktails are well made, but the real highlight is the location. The Hudson River views are absolutely beautiful, especially at sunset. In the summer, sitting outside is hard to beat. They often have live music, a fun tiki bar atmosphere, lawn games, and it's even pet-friendly, making it a great place to spend an afternoon or evening with friends and family. During the winter, they set up heated inflatable dining domes, which create a cozy and unique experience while still letting you enjoy the waterfront views. The atmosphere is casual, lively, and welcoming. Every now and then you'll even spot some interesting people dining there--we've run into writers and storytellers, which adds to the charm of the place. Whether you're stopping by for brunch, seafood, burgers, or just drinks by the river, The Sailhouse is worth the visit in every season. It's one of our favorite waterfront restaurants in the Hudson Valley, and we highly recommend it.
