I will start off by saying the menu looks great. The options look wonderful on paper. I can only base my opinion this time around based on the one experience I had there. The appeal to this restaurant is clearly its amazing location right on the water. The night I went was torrential downpour (I still thought it looked very cool even in bad weather) Unfornately because of this they moved the live band which would have been outside inside. The band was good, but it was very loud and if you wanted to have a conversation at your table that was out. I hadn't seen my parents in a while so really just wanted to talk with them so that was a bummer. Now onto the food, We started with the calamari. It was fine, not good, not bad. Any calamari that is just the rings i'm a little skeptical of. However all in all it was fine. The big dissapointment was the lobster rolls. I love that they have the different styles (my favorite is the connecticut style) however this particular roll was very small. Now that could have been a good thing because both mine and my wifes lobster rolls had a very noticeable fishy taste. So that is not good and means they have turned. We are very fortunate to have not gotten food poisoning. I really wanted to like this place but because of the lobster rolls I just can't justify going back or reccommending it to others. read more

I'm giving them three stats because they made it right but my fish tacos were served raw. Yes raw and I was overcharged for a side salad that was charged as a Cesar. They don't give you receipts to check your receipts. I think the issues eating on the outside when I dined in it hasn't been a problem and the food quality is way better the outside kitchen needs to up their game a little bit since it's July. I'm a little skeptical but it's a nice time to be had and they did refund me completely. Perhaps stick to the fries or burgers....or cocktails. read more

The main reason this place is getting three stars is the value for the money. Food was good , and service was decent. The view and atmosphere is beautiful right on the river with a view of the Tappan Zee Bridge. But their menu prices reflect the premium for that view and you're gonna spend a pretty penny. The view is wonderful... Unfortunately, the Patio, with the plastic tarp covering, made it impossible to see the view, and unfortunately was extremely loud . They have a rather large restaurant on the inside and an even larger area to dine outside alfresco . It was a bit too cold to be out there so we dined inside. The food was just OK. I really feel like the food is an afterthought. The folks are very friendly. The surface was wonderful. You can drive in or you can walk from Tarrytown town, which is what we did . We were at Sailhouse on this warm sultry August evening for the fabulous Reggae band - The Brooklyners, and to enjoy the fun outdoor Tiki Bar serving yummy potent Frozen Margaritas & Frozen Piña Coladas! The Tiki menu includes Smash Burgers, Lobster Rolls, Hot Dogs, Fries, Chips + Guacamole. The waitstaff is wonderful! Sailhouse's Pier location has Live Music 5PM to 8PM. The indoors has a more formal menu and Reservations are required. Parking can be challenging on weekends. Sailhouse has one thing going for it and that's the view. Right on the waterfront in Tarrytown, overlooking the Cuomo Bridge, it's definitely a spot you come to for the scenery. Food-wise... not so much. The oysters weren't fresh, which was a letdown, and the macaroni and cheese just didn't hit. I ordered a blueberry lemonade thinking it would be refreshing, but they didn't strain the fruit so every sip was full of pulp. The highlight of the service was our waitress, Ava--it was her first day and she was super sweet. She was great about handling the oyster situation and even brought us another round of drinks to make up for it. If you're in the area, I'd say stop here for a drink and take in the views, but skip the food. Rock out with live bands at 7 pm on Friday nights (other nights to see the website) and a choice of sitting indoors or outdoors in the riverfront Sailhouse restaurant or at the adjacent Tiki Bar. Self serve bar and food @ the Tiki bar hut with metal tables with umbrellas. About a dozen items on the menu - burgers, chicken sandwich, lobster rolls, fries. Or you can eat at the Sailhouse with a bigger menu with glasses, utensils and cloth napkins and wait service. The food: excellent smash burgers cooked to order and very good fries (not enough), tender flavored blackened salmon wrap with BLT stuffing was very tasty. Bang bang shrimp tacos 3 per order were excellent- tender shrimp, nice mildly spicy sauce. Cold large Guinness and their own 16 oz Sailhouse lager, Chardonnay and non alcoholic beer - all served in cold glasses. We indulged in a warm fudge brownie with excellent rich vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Coffee with a nice snifter of sambuca and excellent double espresso. When we arrived the Hawthorne band was just setting up. When we left the whole tiki bar area was wall to wall people dancing and drinking. Add in the boats on the river, jet skiing, a dozen paddle boarders and the colorful Tappan zee lights and the whole Sailhouse experience was awesome. This is such a beautiful scenic place. We went to try the igloo that they offer and have to say was very cozy and comfortable in there. It was a little cold but they have an electric fire pace along with a heater for us to stay warm. They even provide a small speaker to listen to music and you connect with your blue tooth. Came here for a friend's bday party. The place has such an amazing view of the bridge and the Hudson River. The fish tacos were good and the fries were very good! Wish there was a little more of a brunch menu. Wow! What a great place. A group of us came here for dinner and were seated by the water. Beautiful view of the bridge and there was even a sailboat! View better than the food, I think. We were meeting friends whose eating patterns are different from ours. They're definitely carnivorous and we're definitely not. My one friend really did enjoy her meal. She had the coconut shrimp appetizer and then a lovely salad. Her husband, who likes his steak, only had ribeye on the bone which he doesn't prefer. So he got the double smashburger; said it was okay. I ordered the diavolo seafood linguine. I must note that it was loaded with seafood: 6 or 7 mussels, 6 or 7 shrimp, and some calamari. I like spicy, and told that to our server. I guess because for some strange reason they make diavolo as a cream sauce, it just wasn't very spicy; a taste here and there of a garlicky spice. My husband doesn't want spice and asked if they could make the diavolo with a marinara sauce instead; she said sure! But it came out with a cream sauce; they took it back and subsequently did send it out with the requested sauce. He liked it but didn't love it. Again, in their defense there was plenty of seafood. Every aspect of our dining experience was memorable: The wait staff were charming, knowledgeable and timely. The oysters were "bright"! As if they were just harvested from the shores of Montauk Point and shucked! Simply outstanding. My salad greens tasted just picked with a perfect blend of tart, sweetness & salt that comprised the dressing. The wine list was on point! The "comped" music experience by Pennsylvania musician, Doug Kaetz, was a lovely way to relax after supping with joy filled friends. Finally, Labor Day evening's bartender made me feel like he cared about me! I initially discovered The SailHouse at my 44th Irvington High School Reunion. I grew up always coming to this place when it was sunset cove. It is the perfect spot for drinks and a gorgeous view of the Hudson. I had high hopes for the lobster roll, but unfortunately, it fell short in nearly every category. The roll was dry and lacked the buttery richness you'd expect from a well-executed lobster dish. It wasn't served hot, as it was ordered, which only emphasized the underwhelming texture of the lobster meat. Speaking of the meat -- it consisted solely of claw meat, and even that was thin and dry. There was none of the sweet, tender quality that makes a lobster roll worth the splurge. Given the price point, I expected something far more satisfying. We've been back multiple times and this time we celebrated our 13 y/o birthday. The girls had their own table and the restaurant was nice enough to print out specific menus with the birthday girls name on it, which was a nice touch. All the girls gave the food 5 star and the views 5 stars as well. This made for a very special night for our daughter. Went with the wings which had a nice crisp and were cooked perfect, not dry as you get with some crispy wings. My wife had the fish tacos and they were just what she wanted. I love the beer selection they have, coming from CT we are limited so it was nice seeing GRIMM brewing on tap. The restaurant manager was on point with anything we needed.
