I have been interested in this charming spot for years. I just never went. Until Friday. On a whim made a reservation and I am so glad I did! What a beautiful, relaxing, pleasant experience! So proud to have this elegant delicious upscale (cant even call it a restaurant) experience in my area. Not everything in Georgia thats special has to be in Atlanta. The service, atmosphere and just general care given to us by the staff makes you feel like you're the only guests there. Helpful, informative funny wait staff on hand to explain the menu, offer suggestions or even explain the fascinating history of the home. Fantastic innovative caring chef. Every delicious detail is thoughtful. From the amazing sauces to the use of a clean utensil for every course. Please do yourself a favor and experience this wonderful place. First visit from out-of-town. Southern hospitality was wonderful, and the food absolutely delectable! We'll return every year, for sure. Had the tenderloin of beef shoulder and Norwegian halibut, and both were excellent! The halibut crust was the perfect amount of crunch, and the halibut melted in your mouth. Who knew green tomatoes could be so tasty, and that popcorn could be incorporated into an entree? Love that the owner is the chef, and the seasonal menu constantly changes. I love this place. It's one of the only places I have eaten in this area that makes me not miss living in Atlanta. There are other "upscale" restaurants in Gainesville but I have been greatly underwhelmed by them. Antebellum is a true culinary treat. We went for our anniversary and it was so memorable. It's a great place to eat family and sometimes comfort foods with a high dining style, presentation and flavors. It's a great place to take the missus for an anniversary dinner. They will not disappoint. It's on the higher range price-wise but one might go there for drinks and dessert. It's just hard to drop by because it requires a reservation. Intimate interior, inviting exterior, and every moment from walking up the steps through the door, being seated, to departing was superb. Our server was Christy and she was warm and knowledgeable, and provided prompt and exceptional customer service. She even brought us a complimentary champagne toast for my boyfriend and I's anniversary. He had the duck and I had the salmon, and there isn't a single bad thing I could say about them other than I wanted more! Every bite was sumptuous and obviously made with quality ingredients and great care by their chef. I am angry at myself for not having tried Antebellum sooner, but I have no doubt that I would return here in a heartbeat for any occasion. read more

I really wasn't expecting to find one of the best meals in Atlanta in flowery branch but this was incredible. Everything about the place is perfect, from the atmosphere in a southern home, the incredible service, and well - the food. Good god everything was packed with complex flavors and that's not something I really expect from southern food that's usually super traditional. For starters my wife and I got the apple/cinnamon old fashioned and the blueberry lemon martini and both were fantastic. They bring complementary cornbread with a green tomato spread that's great. My wife and I picked the fried green tomato app and I think everyone else in the restaurant did as well. It was incredible. Beautifully presented, the bacon jam and the sharpness from the green tomato broke through the breading, complemented by the runny egg. 10/10, best FGT I've ever had as a Georgia resident all my life. For entrees, I picked the tenderloin that's crusted with herb and mustard and some wild mushrooms. The meat was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and the mushrooms were also and still had an incredible texture where most you would get are over cooked. 10/10. My wife's dish was even better. She got the seasonal gnocchi with morels, beans, and goat cheese and toasted bread. It was literally packed with flavors that made our eyes roll in the back of our head like The Undertaker from wrestle mania 1997. There was not a single thing served to us that didn't have just such complex and amazing flavors. It was my wife's birthday and they brought out a complimentary dessert which was a cast iron cookie with vanilla ice cream. Amazing as well. You hear about great restaurants like husk, bach, berns, etc - but they can't hold a candle to the food that we had here. I'll be back very soon. We were both so surprised at how incredible the food was. As an inspiring home chef, these dishes made me realize how much of a rookie I am. Huge thanks to the team and chef. Started of course with the fried green tomatoes and frozen mimosa - ( sorry, after a couple Stella's !!! ) The tomatoes are a perfect grouping of flavors from the Fried egg to perfectly fried green tomatoes over a crisp toast. Very good. Went slow and enjoyed. Then on to the seared scallops in a bed of greens and roasted peppers in a curry and pea purée. 5 to the plate, a symphony of taste to the palate. Again took my time to enjoy and these were wonderful. Enjoyed a fine Pinot with the meal and off to a double espresso and grand mariner. No desert, perfect background music by Tom. Fantastic experience at Antebellum. My fourth time here and still in love with the creativity and flavors that the chef puts together. Great ambiance in the restaurant and all of the dishes are well plated and good sizes. I had the fried chicken appetizer with Alabama white sauce, a Johnny cake, and green tomato chow chow. All of the components on their own were delicious but together it was phenomenal. For dinner I had the rye and mustard crusted pork belly, fingerling potatoes, beer cheese sauce, and (I believe) pear on top. This dish was so good but super rich. I wasn't able to finish but took the extra home as I could not let it go to waste. Wonderful flavors. For dessert we shared the chocolate bread pudding. When it first came out and was really hot it almost tasted like molten lava cake which was unexpected and wonderful. As it cooled I really enjoyed it for how flavorful it was without being too sweet. I would highly recommend Antebellum to anyone who wants some delicious food and would like to enjoy a nice night out. The service, food, and overall experience are fantastic. read more

I was surprised when I went to update a review on Antebellum to realize I have never reviewed it. We have been to Antebellum several times over the past few years. I would say it is our go-to restaurant for a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary. In every visit we have been treated extremely well: courteous and hospitable. And the food, without exception, has been superb! On our most recent occasion our party had a fantastic halibut dish, their always-wonderful salmon, and a melt-in-your mouth beef bolognese. The only challenge is always whether there will be room to try one of their wonderful deserts. Oh, and they have always been most solicitous and helpful with my wife's dietary issues...making suggestions and explaining which dishes could be altered to fit her needs. On top of this, Antebellum has rolled with the challenges of Covid-19. The servers were all gloved and masked. We ate outside on the veranda, though inside table were well-spaced. They have gone to a clever phone-based touchless menu system. We all felt extremely comfortable. We will be returning to this wonderful establishment. read more

Started with the pimento cheese on home made bread. Amazing! My hubby chose the Shrimp & Grits which were best he ever had. I had the Beef Bolognese which was too good to even describe. The whole evening was a culinary explosion of flavors. We are foodies and this was one of the best meals we ever had. Ended our meal with chocolate bread pudding!
