In area for husbands birthday weekend. Found this gem online. So glad I chose to celebrate here. Charming Antebellum home converted to a restaurant. Started with the pimento cheese on home made bread. Amazing! My hubby chose the Shrimp & Grits which were best he ever had. I had the Beef Bolognese which was too good to even describe. The whole evening was a culinary explosion of flavors. We are foodies and this was one of the best meals we ever had. Ended our meal with chocolate bread pudding! Wow wow wow! Loved this place. Went for my anniversary dinner and could not have been more pleased with the experience. Walked in and was greeted by name. We were gifted a glass of champagne to celebrate our day. Food was outstanding. Wife had fried green tomatoes and I had wild mushroom soup. Can you say pickled beets! Main course was the salmon and I had beef bolongnese. Absolutely amazing. For dessert go with the toffee cake, you won't be disappointed. Overall great experience. From the moment we walked in, until the moment we left, Antebellum performed flawlessly. The location is an old rebuilt home from the late 1800's or early 1900's, cute, and in good condition. They keep it really clean, which is a bonus. The bathrooms were immaculate. The layout was really nice, and you didn't feel cramped for space. Their waiting lounge was adorable, and the bar is also really nice. Well have to sit there next time. Small menu, which is perfect. Tasting portions as far as appetizers, we had the cheese board, pork belly salad, and sweet Vidalia onion soup, and the entrees, cocoa and espresso rubbed duck breast, and wild seared scallops, were amazing. Dessert was flawless, chocolate bread pudding with the best cappuccino I have ever had. We did indulge in several cocktails, which are on the more upscale trend, and were delicious, but they have a really good wine list to choose from as well. Excellent service. Marking trays are used, and silverware is replaced from course to course ahead of time. Water glasses, which are adorable Mason jars, stayed full the entire meal. Our server kept us informed in between courses, and also made awesome conversation with us. The floor looked very smoothly run, guests were definitely well-taken care of, and were extremely well-fed by a chef who's love for the food clearly shows. The kitchen was beyond on-point, and gave us our best meal of 2017, hands-down. Antebellum was just amazing. I can't say enough good things about our experience. It wasn't cheap, and it wasn't close to home, but worth every penny, and moment of traffic. I'm definitely hooked, and will be back. Well done. read more

Antebellum's craft cocktail menu is what initially caught my eye and my friends and I were not disappointed with our selections. My friend's lavender lady cocktail was really strong but smelled amazing. I loved my Blushing Grapefruit one! For appetizers we ordered the pork belly and the fried green tomato- they were both innovative and tasty. They each had a bit of heat too which worked well for our group! Note that they are very small portions- but we had enough for a bite each which was good to start. Their complimentary cornbread with sweet green tomato preserves was also different (very sweet on the tomato preserves)- would also have been nice if there was a side of honey butter or something served alongside too though for those people who don't like jam on their bread. We passed on salads and went straight to entrees- each of us ordered something different and sharing. The shrimp and grits was phenomenal (they were out of grits so they served it on top of polenta which was equally, if not more, delicious), the beef shoulder and gnocchi was really good although our complaint would be that there were only like 4 pieces of gnocchi (the beef was excellently prepared and the beans/mushrooms that it came with were yummy too), the duck with roasted cauliflower was awesome (the roasted cauliflower was absolutely fantastic- a favorite) and the salmon and grit cake with tomato salsa was really flavorful and excellently prepared. No misses here. For dessert we shared two: the slice of the day- which was a massive strawberry cake with yummy cream cheese frosting, and the chocolate bread pudding which was rich, warm, cozy and divine. My friend ordered the Burnt Marshmallow after dinner drink (housemade burnt marshmallow infused bourbon!) and it was inspiring and memorable. Their wine list is also very comprehensive with some fantastic bottles (many we recognized!)- and we found out they offer a $15 corkage fee if you want to bring your own bottle. The lavender shortbread cookies that they give you with the check were a nice parting gesture. I would absolutely come back again- especially if they start offering a rotating seasonal menu! read more

The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed and the restaurant is situated in the historic downtown of Flowery Branch which sometimes has activities going on that might coordinate well with a meal out. I've been to Antebellum twice for dinner, both times with a rather large crowd. Most recently we were in on a Saturday evening celebrating wedding anniversaries with friends. We had a party of 12 and I worked with Alison ahead of time to arrange a special treat for dessert. Since I was the coordinator for our group that evening, I met our server, Christina, when I first arrived and explained what was going on (who the couples were, etc). Christina executed everything to perfection. She delivered special champagne toasts to our honored guests to begin the evening and was attentive and prompt throughout the night. The food is southern cuisine served in a more formal (vs casual) manner. The fried green tomatoes are delicious! They are served stacked and topped with an egg with a frozen mimosa as a palate cleanser on the side. I had the salmon with crispy grit cake and the husband had the beef shoulder. They were both really flavorful. Several in our group got the shrimp and grits and that dish is also a winner! One of our friends found a hair in his entree :( but Christina swiftly took that dish away and delivered his new order quickly (with no charge for that meal). Antebellum does not allow you to bring in outside desserts, they have a cake baker, so I arranged for two 6 inch round Italian cream cakes ($30/ea) to be made for our party celebrating two couples. While the cakes were not large enough to write on, I brought my own topper for one and Antebellum offered candles for the other. The cakes were both delicious and everyone really enjoyed them. Overall, enjoyable evening and look forward to dining there again. read more

Disappointed in the menu... guess you need to go in the fall or winter as the menu is better. Went for the duck and the menu had changed. So food is good (sometimes great season /menu dependent), drinks.. deserts... appetizers are always awesome... service is good - but for the money - should be great. Never judge a book by its cover, because Antebellum looks like a sleepy, maybe country eating kind of eatery but the food story inside is not. Get ready for some mighty fine dining. I went there for the first time with my niece to celebrate our birthdays. We had reservations at 6:30 and were promptly seated. The menu was on one page but enough delights to cover a group of diners. My niece ordered the salmon and I had the scallops. Both entrees were perfectly prepared, my scallops were cooked to perfection, not chewy but melt in your mouth good and the salmon was a beautiful red color and flaked easily when touching it with a fork. The sides were asparagus with the salmon and risotto with my scallops. We did not order appetizers since we both love dessert and oh my goodness we were not disappointed there either. We asked our server what he would recommend and he suggested the Sticky Toffee Cake. Delicious is the only word that comes to mind, that and rich, gooey, taste bud smacking delicious. This dessert came with a warning!Habit forming and I must admit I think of it often. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the service. It was impeccable. Our server was great, he (sorry I don't remember his name) would check in with us periodically but never annoyingly. The ambience was nice, at first I didn't care for the separation of the rooms but after more people came in I was glad there were only four tables in our room. I have one tiny thing I didn't like which was the after dinner drink. I ordered a Brandy Alexander, which didn't taste as I hoped it would. The ones I've had in the past literally tasted like a chocolate milkshake with a bit of brandy. So yummy but the search will continue to find the epic Brandy Alexander. Not quite what it is cracked up to be. Very expensive, very loud and not very comfortable. We went as a table of eight, were seated right as our 7pm reservation and were there in the middle of the week. Weekends are apparently popular and rushed, so go during the week. This is an expanded country- or farm-style house just off of the Flowery Branch downtown. Amazing that this high-end restaurant would be located in the rural countryside of Braselton, but the area is certainly growing. I had difficulty with the menu. Lots of fur-fru descriptions and sides. At first glance they sounded good, but the execution was disappointing. There were five appetizers, five salads and five mains offered. Mostly seafood. Portions were minimal. The kind of meals that make you look for a hamburger stand when you leave. I read the reviews and am amazed at the raves. I think this might be hype driving the expectation that what you are getting is really special. It ain't. I think as a lunch place it might pass except for the high prices. We could barely hear each other from the noise. Hard wood floors and walls reflected noise. Service was OK, but the waiter was quite pushy as to wines, appetizers and desserts. A bit much and after I kept myself from gobbling down my four 1..5 inch slices of beef shoulder and 9 squares of warm, vinegared potato cubes I was far from proclaiming this a five-star gourmet dining experience. Drop by to check out the menus as they change three times each year. You might find something that will draw you in, but don't expect much more than a sampler portion which will be priced at a full portion. read more
