Dr. Landa is a great doctor. I had massive facial trauma. I sought a consultation with my CT scans. I am retired so I have Medicare, Dr. Landa does not take Medicare. He also felt I would be better served at UCLA. So on his own time he called a friend and got me in to see the top surgeons to do the work. For me to even get an appointment (because I tried) for consultation the wait was 8 weeks. I was seen as an emergency the next day right when they oped. I was perfectly willing to drop 30 or 40k dollars paying cash. Dr.Landa got me a truly great surgical team. All covered by Medicare. read more

I only have exceptional things to say about my experience with AV Oral Surgery staff and Dr. Landa. Everyone was welcoming, kind, friendly and treated me with the utmost respect. On 2 separate occasions I had a tooth removed. Not because of bad hygiene, but do to medical issues that caused old root canals that were over 30yrs old to fall out and the remaining tooth needed extracting. Dr. Landa is very personable, professional, knowledgeable and can extract a tooth without causing any pain. Literally! It's not a technique that he uses, it's the proper numbing before the local anesthetic. No stitches or grafting. In and out within 5 minutes. Extremely rude office staff. I called today the day AFTER my wife's appointment and the clerk told me --- "oh yes, I checked your wife in THIS MORNING ". I responded that our appointment was YESTERDAY. She repeatedly said "No it was this morning"!!! Ridiculous --- every time I started to speak, she just keep talking over me. She finally just kept saying "I know I checked her in this morning and I will only talk to you about your which you must pay within 30 days or we will refer you to a collection agency". I started to speak and she hung up abruptly while I was still talking!!! I'm getting a little more forgetful as I get older --- bur I can CERTAINLY remember where we were this morning. Update: It's been a little over a year since my wisdom teeth removal at this place and I just HAVE to make an updated review. I'm Very happy with how my gums have healed and am very impressed with my surgeon. I unfortunately don't remember her name, but she is a tall beautiful, middle aged woman with blonde hair and has an accent. Very intelligent person and her suturing for my gums turned out wonderful! I hardly even remember the healing process and pain honestly. It flew by so fast! I was eating food by the second week (carefully of course). Staff is super nice but the waiting is Ridiculous! My child was already nervous for surgery and they went over an hour past her appointment to even call her into the back.. they literally schedule their surgeries every 15 mins but the actual surgery is closer to a half an hour and that doesn't even include the recovery time. Was sent here by my dentist because the oral surgeon I saw before was on vacation... I should have waited for my previous surgeon and I regret not doing so.. from the moment I got the injection to numb my mouth I knew I would have a different experience. The dentist gave me the injection then left and, was gone for awhile. He came back and said "let's give her another shot, since I was gone awhile"...Which actually ended up being a good thing because, I wasn't completely numb from the first shot.... he then told the assistant, "this tooth is going to be difficult to get out", making my anxiety shoot up...when it was done I was told they'd have pain pills and a rinse called into the pharmacy. Called pharmacy to check later and told nothing for pain. Called dentist back because my swelling was going down and I was starting to feel the pain, I was told it's there at the pharmacy and was sent .. went to pharmacy an hour later, nothing for pain. The pharmacist double checked more than once because, I was standing there crying and in pain.. called the emergency line of the dentist 3 times.. no call back.. went to sleep taking NyQuil to try and pass out to get rid of the pain.. Woke up to a message from the dentist saying, "we were calling to make sure you were able to fill your prescription", called them back only to be met with attitude, the assistant said, "we're working on it, the dentist is in surgery and we'll get to it, I can't tell you a time or when"...wait, it was supposed to be done yesterday when I left and, you called ME this morning ‍ never again. So, I had 2 teeth extracted same day and it's now the next afternoon.. I still haven't gotten anything for pain.. time to open the wine ‍....and, I don't even drink ‍ read more

AMAZING!! I had extreme pain in a infected tooth. My dentist recommended I remove it. Other places told me they could give me an appointment in a week. I was referred to Dr Landa by my dentist since his only works once a month. I was not impressed from the moment I saw Dr Landa. He was abrupt. When I went in for my surgery and he gave the first shot I cried out and he said, "No yelling." Some people have low pain tolerance and he had a poor "bedside manner." The staff was nice and helpful but I won't go in again for any oral surgery to him. read more

My fiancé just got his wisdom teeth removed at AV Oral Surgery. They were very professional and made sure I had all the information on how to take care of him while he was still loopy and how he could best care for his mouth until his stitches dissolved and he was in no more pain. Was not a good experience at all. Had two teeth removed under anesthesia. The anesthesia doctor forgot to give me nausea meds in my IV and he even said so, and I work up severely nauseated and unable to walk to the car. they did not have any bags for vomiting so they gave me a paper bag. I was very concerned that I saw the doctors hands trembling. Had a horrible headache for a week after this. My jaw was very bruised on both sides. and my adjacent tooth was chipped. Now I have something they left in the socket that is white and hard protruding through my gum that is very irritated!!! I have had at least 8 teeth pulled by other oral surgeons and have never had any issues at all. I would never go back to this dentist again or recommend this office to anyone. This review is currently based on my experience with their receptionist Magali today while reviewing details for a consultation my husband is having for an extraction. AV Oral Surgery was recommended to us by our dentist. When my husband went in for his annual check-up he found out he needed an implant, so they recommended us to this office for a consultation and estimate for part of the procedure. My husband typically isn't great at asking questions so I called today to follow up on whether they were in network for us, some costs associated with things, etc. Let me be totally clear that based on the reviews here I was uncertain on whether we should go to this office. I'm big on being informed as much as possible, and rely strongly on online reviews because we aren't originally from this area so we don't have any referrals from personal friends or family to work with. I won't go into full detail but I will tell you that from my call log I called and spoke with Magali 5 times today while going between this office and another who is also a referral from our dentist to decide which we should proceed with. Each and every single time I called she was extremely pleasant, friendly, and ambitious while answering my questions! She even listened to me babble on and complain about the other office I had decided not to go with based on their lack of customer service and explained how much of a pleasure it was talking with her today. It was refreshing to speak with someone who was not only friendly, but overly happy to answer any questions I had in regards to possibly working with them. This place was a great experience so far. I am getting an implant and have been going to several appointments here to get it done. All the staff is amazing! Rosa and Valerie were totally awesome and I am leaving out others who helped me and i apologize for that. Brought my mom to have an extraction. Staff was nice at first, and then my mom wanted me to join her for the consent. And one of the girls got bent out of shape, she didn't understand why I needed to accompany my mother for the consent. She was very confrontational. And she didn't want to understand why my mom had me by her side for comfort. My mother had to remind her that she had to be "nice" to her. And be patient. This girl was either an LVN or an office assistant. She didn't understand how to be compassionate, or empathetic towards her patient. It must've been to early, or as others use the excuse " I haven't had my coffee yet" she was very unprofessional. read more

This place is top notch. I am terrified of dentists and mostly needles, but they were so patient and caring. They were gentle and talked me through every step of the process. I needed all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and was terrified, they made me feel better about the process and less scared. The facility is clean and everyone very professional. I would recommend them to everyone I can. The surgery was yesterday and after a short nap, I was feeling great last night and today the pain is gone. I feel a little pressure, but nothing too bad. I went in there on an emergency basis, I had a root canal that went wrong. I was referred to Dr Landa after seeing two other doctors who couldn't help me. I gave them my insurance information. Dr Landa literally talked to me for 3 minutes with Rosa standing by. She goes and gets a financial agreement that was outrageously priced for an extraction. I was about to walk out and she tells me to wait so she can see what she can do. She comes back with a different financial agreement that states my cost would be $172.50 total and broke it down into 2 payments. It was much less than the 1st agreement. I called my husband with her there to see if we could afford it with her there. I asked her if there were going to be any other charges, she said no. I asked if I was going to be getting any other bills from them, she said no. I signed the agreement, paid for half of the bill, they took me into a room where Dr Landa injected me and proceeded to to remove my tooth after a couple of minutes. Even though I clearly was in pain because I was crying he didn't stop to give me more anesthesia he just finished the job. Wow! That was the worst experience ever! Then, I get a bill in the mail for $118.00 plus $2.36 interest for a total $120.36. Now I'm already paying interest on a first billing statement that I wasn't ever going to be billed. Plus my insurance paid $122.50, for a total of $413.00 for an extraction and a 3 minute consult. I called the office spoke to Rosa and of course she says she never stated I wasn't going to be billed and proceeds to read me the agreement from the 1st agreement. I explained she gave a me a 2nd agreement that didn't say any of that. She was so adamant about it she wouldn't even let me get two words in. So I ask if I should be speaking to a manager since I can't get two words in and she passes me to the manager. I explained to the manager what happened and told her that nowhere on this agreement does it state that my agreement is dependent on what my insurance pays. She didn't care and stated I had to pay. So I told her basically what happened is Rosa lied to me, she disagreed of course but was she there, no! Why couldn't they have just been honest and given me the opportunity to choose the best financial option for my budget. Instead they just lie to get the job done and then you're stuck. Now my total for an extraction was $290.00 plus interest! And $118.00 dollars for a Comprehensive evaluation that took him 3 minutes to do, without even looking into my mouth other than to tap on the tooth to make sure he pulls the right one, is outrageous. No wonder our healthcare system is so messed up. I could've gone down the road and paid $150.00 with less pain and less headache! Thanks Dr. Landa! read more

I had come to this office with my mom who needed tooth removal and an implant. First of all, the staff is amazing, and its true, they talk to you as long as needed and as many times as needed until ALL your questions are answered and you are comfortanble. Of course the Doctors in this office as extermely educated, but they are great people and have an amazing way of making patients feel comfortable about the procedure, not to mention that they are highly professional and great at what they do. If I could give this place less than one star I would. I had a great first visit, but things didn't end up that way. I cancelled my appointment one day before the date because I had to pay cash for the treatment and due to the COVID-19 pandemic and being out of work, I didn't have all the money for the appointment date. A few days later, I received a bill in the mail for $150.00 because I was in violation of their cancellation policy. I called the office and spoke to ESTHER. She was so nasty and unprofessional. It's hard to believe she's employed. She contributes to the reason why the AV has a bad customer service reputation. She gave me the impression that she is not only an awful employee but also a horrible human being. I tried explaining the situation and my circumstances to which she didn't have any compassion or understanding. This was really frustrating. I mean, we are in a Global Health Crisis for goodness sake and she still didn't offer any beneficial solution. Had we not been in a pandemic and I would've still been working as normal, I would have totally had the money together and kept my appointment, as I was really looking forward to getting the treatment. Apparently she doesn't understand that the pandemic has affected everyone differently and most of us financially. I would definitely not recommend this place at all. I believe angels led me to Antelope Valley Oral Surgery! I had a totally painless wisdom tooth extraction performed here and I can't sing the dentist or his staff's praises high enough. I researched the web high and low looking for an affordable practice where I could be put to sleep during my surgery. The rates I was quoted around town made be cry - they were so high - but not here. This dental office was professional, kind, caring and affordable ! I've heard so many wisdom tooth horror stories that I was wrecked with fear about my tooth. But can I tell you I felt not an ounce of pain post surgery. I stopped taking pain meds after two days! I wish they also practiced regular dentistry here lol - because they would be my go to dentist for everything! Simply the Best - look no further for oral surgery ! read more

BEWARE Zero Stars: My dentist sent me to this office to get a consult for a very small bone spur on the inside of my lower left jaw. After looking at the area "the Dentist" stated that she could remove it in a few minutes and that any residual pain would be like a "little sore in my mouth". The procedure started with numbing the entire area, then she scraped the gum away and used both a bone scraper and a bone file to remove the spur!?! Although numb, there was an incredible amount of pressure as she scraped and filed on my mouth, it was also very bloody. Thirty minutes later I was sent away with no antibiotics or pain meds?!?! That night my jaw was throbbing, the next morning it was so swollen I couldn't speak clearly and it continued to bleed. I assumed that it would get better however after 5 days it was still throbbing, incredibly painful and it was nearly impossible to eat any solid food (mind you I've had wisdom teeth, crowns & a root canal without nearly the pain or swelling). I went back to my general dentist who agreed that there was a problem and referred me to a different dental specialist office. That specialist confirmed that the area was ulcerated, raw, inflamed and the remaining bone was very rough. I asked if this was a "typical method" for this type of problem and was told it was not. I was immediately placed on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories to counter the infection and reduce the swelling. This was by far the worst dental experience I have ever encountered. This office does not know patient care, or customer service, and they clearly do not know dentistry...Stay Away! read more

Dr Landa helped us when our son-n-law was in critical condition waiting for a transfer to UCLA. He had a wisdom tooth that had ruptured in his mouth, the infection was killing him. I went here last week to get my wisdom teeth removed. Prior to my appointment, I had a consultation (which discussed my co payments for the surgery) and was told I owed $106 the day of my appointment. Since that day, I called multiple times to ask questions about the procedure, and even changed my appointment. I even called the morning of my appointment to confirm. When I got check in, the receptionist told me she needed to collect my co payment. I said okay, (she did not disclose how much, I figured since they already told me it was going to be 106, it would be 106). She gave me my receipt and it said $410 and I questioned how it went up so much and why she didn't let me know. She said she tried to get a hold of me and left me multiple voicemails, which is not the case; and that my insurance had a different break down now. I was never upset I had to pay the co payment, but upset that I was blinded by the increase in price. I work in an optometrist office and know how important it is to let patients know about increases in payments. Plus, I've called multiple times, and no one mentioned it to me. And again, the information was not mentioned when I checked in either. The office manager was kind and had a talk with me about it, however I still left uneasy. If I didn't have a follow up appointment, I wouldn't come here again. read more

Dr Landa did a very nice job. But the problem here isn't with the Dentist, it's with the billing. There are surprises around every corner!! Everything from X-rays that aren't covered by the Insurance, to misunderstandings on what percentage my insurance covers. With computers and the internet you would think the smooth flow of information between the Dentists billing department and my Insurance would have been more accurate. I have NO problem paying for services rendered... just don't tell me I am all paid up and then send me ANOTHER bill. Yes, this happened twice so far!! read more

I had the best day at the doctors office!!! I called in for an emergency wisdom teeth extraction (my 2 bottom wisdom teeth were impacted and causing me so much pain) The lady at the desk I hate I forgot her name but she was so sweet, knowledgeable and got me in right away in the same day. I made an appointment for the next day to have the two bottom extracted. The process was really quick we decided on pricing for anesthesia and every other possibility to keep it as cheap as possible because I did not have full coverage insurance. I made a 70% down payment, they put me under laughing gas and before I knew it I feel a little pressure and it was all done. I felt the pain go away immediately the only thing is you have to keep it clean afterwards and take your meds. Yes they were a bit expensive but if I had to choose any doctor it would be them again. The price is totally worth it and don't forget, you get what you pay for. read more
