Very cute shop that reminds me of one that I'd encountered shopping along Armitage Ave in Chicago. (This is the highest compliment I can pay!) The owner herself is from the upper peninsula of Michigan and it was lovely to chat with her upon my first visit. She's a designer and does in-home consultations and design. What I greatly appreciated about her way of doing business is that she was very direct about her pricing structure. She had a "menu" of services listed and can do as little or as much as you'd like. The shop itself is true to "mongrel" - a nice little mixed selection of home decor items. I enjoy shopping "outside the box" (ie PB, Crate & Barrel etc) for some unique finds and Mongrel has everything from furniture to candles. I put my name on an e-mail list (be sure to do so!) to receive notice of sales and events. The shop is located in the Fry's shopping plaza, on the very east end by Subway.

I purchased two large soy candles - the quality and scent was perfect. The building itself is more remarkable than I imagined: the original commercial wood truss ceilings are an unusual site in Arizona. A rare treat. Top notch acting, set design, props, costume design, storytelling, and house service. My second visit was to see You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, put on by their small company of highly talented kids. The show was in the box theater, an all black room with theatre-style seating and an adorably set stage. Snacks and drinks were available (donations accepted), with a 15 minute intermission. I believe the show runs through the end of the month, and I can't wait to see what they put on next! As a lover of the Arts, it was so cool seeing such a great place for kids to come learn and perform! Shoutout to the cutest Woodstock I've ever seen!

We didn't choose Sherwin-Williams, we had to come here because this is who our apartments go…read morethrough. I am SO happy that we were sent here. We decided to go to the Anthem store because we were up this way. Sarah greeted us as soon as we walked in. We didn't know: what color we needed, what color the trim is, how to fix the chew marks on the trim, what accessories we needed.. Sarah had answers for ALL of these things. She even called to another store to make sure the color we needed was correct, looked at pictures of our current colors to chose what primer is best, etc. This store is well stocked, clean & has everything you need for small home or apartment painting and renovations. What made the difference for us is that we're spending $90 but we feel confident in the products and instructions we were given.
