Fantastic Italian sandwiches. Fresh ingredients, pleasant staff, and big portions. Can't ask for too much more from a deli. I haven't tried any of their bakery items and have always gotten my food to-go but they do have a wide selection of foods from every category, and have ample seating available for those wishing to dine in. Parking is a little weird as the shop is at the top of a hill, and the area tends to be swarmed with police cars. But the lot is big enough you won't have any trouble getting a spot. If you're looking for a sandwich recommendation, listen to what all the reviews are saying and try to the eggplant - you won't be disappointed. It isn't even just the eggplant, all the ingredients come together well. The mozzarella is extremely fresh too. They also have several other spreads and toppings you can substitute or add on if you wish if you prefer to customize your sandwich. Price might seem a little high for a sandwich, but the portion size makes up for it, and to be honest it's pretty in line with competitors. read more

I've been to Anthony & Sons in Succasunna, this was my first time at the Denville location. Both stores make sandwiches with first rate ingredients and excellent bread. In addition to sandwiches, this is a full Italian deli with cold cuts, bread, and pastries. I was here at lunchtime and the pastry selection was thin, maybe I need to get here earlier (the cheesecake at Succasunna is amazing)! I ordered the meatball parm which was loaded! The meatballs, sauce, and bread were outstanding! That and a Snapple cost about $14 which I guess is average these days. At least you know you're paying for high quality. There's a nice dining area and service was very friendly. Definitely a thumbs up from me! read more

I give the food 4 stars because I've been obsessed with their salads for years and I used to work closer to this location before. The company I work for usually considers them for catering as well, but it all honesty, this specific location left a sour taste in my mouth. I do not comprehend the idea of automatically being rude to a customer when unprovoked. I wanted to make my life easier by placing an order online for the first time ( I usually call) and of course they ran out of Caesar dressing. The employee tried to call me but I did not get the call in time. Long story longer the employee there (not Phill the manager) treated me so poorly, even gave me an attitude when I said I did not want to change the dressing to ranch. I have placed the order for two salads via direct website not realizing a third party company (slice) was the one involved. I had to go into a live chat to try to get a reimbursement since the restaurant couldn't, I got so frustrated out of disbelief that I was getting treated so poorly, I started to cry. I felt like a burden. In the many times I've gone there to pick up, not once before I've gotten treated so badly. I grew up with an Italian American uncle, I know what it's like to think they're being rude or loud but this was different, this felt unprofessional and disrespectful, and not once I got an apology. I finally got the live chat rep to get ahold of Phill via phone call and I now need to wait 24-48 hours for a refund. Phill did try to make it up to me by trying to give me a free salad but once you feel so little as a customer, your appetite leaves and I could not bare the idea of consuming the restaurant's food. I just hope that they train that guy to do a better job and understand that one bad interaction is all it takes for a company / customer to never return. read more

My gosh this was a good Italian sandwich. The fresh mutz was out of this world and some of the best I've had. The sammie had a generous amount of meat and roasted red peppers, and the bread was perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. This location is a bit off the beaten path (found thanks to Yelp!) because it's in an office park. But it's also in an office park because this isn't just an Anthony & Sons grocery shop, it's also part of their corporate office. The grocery area has a large selection of fresh, frozen and packaged Italian goods. Everything from spreads to oils to pastas and cheese. There is also a bakery counter for fresh baked breads and rolls, and a deli counter with prepared foods like antipasto and rice balls. Just note that the prices are pretty steep and it's a tough place to do a full shop. I wanted some ravioli but was surprised to see that it was $18.00 for a tray. Sliced deli cheese was over $8.00 a pound which is super high too. But, it is a speciality shop with high quality products, and you can find brands here that you wouldn't find at a normal market. I'll definitely keep this in the rotation when I'm craving an Italian sandwich. read more

The service is friendly and personable as well as efficient. The quality of food though! I honestly feel this is one of the best delis you can find, certainly in the area. Be mindful that the portions are not genuinely huge nor is this a more gently priced deli. I love that the market is spotless when you go in and you can always find a new item to try that really hits it out the park. I'm only posting this for the owner to review. Your manager or sandwich maker on Tuesday night 7/25 is extremely rude and disrespectful. Mad at the world kind of guy with a condescending attitude. I happen to use the SLICE app to order sandwiches to go, not knowing the store hours. Get a phone call from the store asking if I just placed an online order?? I said yes, and he said I close in 10 min. I said no problem I'm sorry, don't worry about it. Please just credit back my credit card. (You think the app would coincide with the store hours)?? He said he didn't know how to do that!! And to just come. So I rush to get there, as he calls me again as I enter the driveway. I told him I'm sorry I didn't know your hours and that the app and store should be better at communicating with each other. He said I know nothing about the app. That I should just be happy I got my food. Now as a business owner myself, I would never have my employees speak to my customers in that matter. Not to mention the fact that he got one of the sandwich orders wrong. I've read google reviews about this guy, and so the fact that he is still there leads me to believe he is a relative LOL.. Awesome bakery. You can see bread conveyor behind the glass, tall like tower... Bread is super fresh, of course - light on inside, crispy on outside. Whole wheat croissants are flaky and delicious. We also had sandwiches - big selection of vegetarian sandwiches, as well as all meat-lovers favorites. I had artichoke parm sandwich, it was out of this world! Best italian deli, and of course, bakery in the area. This is a favorite spot for a quick and delicious eat-in lunch. Unlike some of the competitors around, finding a seat has never been a problem. The cafe area is decorated beautifully, has plenty of room, and a is a great place sit to eat. This place can get busy at lunch time so be prepared to experience organized chaos. Surprisingly, no matter how busy they are, we've never had a problem with the food or service. Specials for the week and soups of the day are available on the website, just don't get your hopes up if coming for a later lunch, I've experienced them to be sold out by 1:00-1:30 several times. The sandwiches are all fantastic, especially any that include their fresh mozzarella. The breads are all made on premises and don't get any fresher then here. We always get some bread for home after eating lunch and the selection is huge and prices are reasonable. Was told I would love this place...alas it's just a bakery that happens to sell sandwiches. Ordered a basic sandwich, ham soppresatta, salami n provolone. For $15 you would expect a decent sandwich but when I get home it's just a ham sandwich with 2 slices of salami n 2 slices of soppresatta...not what I paid $15 for. I head back and rather than try to make it right they proceed to attempt to shame me by showing me that they had to throw the sandwich away and letting everyone in the store know about the situation all while telling me this is what i ordered. I told the person that 1. I am not a fan of wasting food and 2nd if that was what I ordered I would be home eating my sandwich and not in front of him asking about the quality of the goods sold at his establishment. Ultimately, I am sad that the manager chose to toss the sandwich rather than correct my order but I can't change that. I am a big fan of supporting local businesses but any establishment that chooses to disrespect their patrons and is convinced they are above receiving feedback is not worth my time or money. read more

This place stole my heart. The food is down right amazing. I have never gotten anything that wasn't delicious. Sure the prices are a bit higher then your normal neighborhood deli but the quality is top notch. They have a nice dining area in the back and will bring your food directly to you. They also sell pastas, sauces, dishes, oils, and of course BREAD! This place has become our go to for lunch and I couldn't be happier. Staff is always courteous, friendly, and quick. If you can't decide they are always willing to offer a suggestion of what is good that particular day. As Stymie from The Little Rascals would say" this is a bakery what is a bakery!" They had a huge selection of breads and rolls to choose from, all which were just baked on the premises. We tried several different types, and they were all good, with a good chewiness and crustiness to them. I did not like the "stuffed breads", but I think I wouldn't like any stuffed breads. Though it was very busy the day we visited, the line went fast and all of the staff seemed friendly and helpful. They do carry many Italian packaged goods and have a selection of cheeses and prepared foods as well. They also carry bottles of esoteric soda as well. There's an area to sit down too. We just took our bread to our car and gorfed it down right there. We will be back here to try the breads we did not sample. read more

I work for a Dr.'s office and we used to order all the time from Anthony and sons but after the person who answered the phone said it wasn't "worth delivering to us" we stopped ordering from them. It's sad because their food is really good that's why I'm giving it 3 stars only for the food quality. We do many referrals to Company Reps when they buy lunch for the office it's unfortunate they don't want our business. Our approx daily lunch is $40 min. so doing the math that's estimate on the low end $240 a month and we were promoting them to Reps. read more

So if you have a real appreciation for quality meat, crave Italian deli or just plain old lust for carbohydrates then there is really no other place to go. Have been coming here for years and no plans to stop anytime soon. Not sure why the person complained about their customer service as they are top-notch and will customize anything I have ever asked for. The roasted red peppers I can eat by the pound which is borderline embarrassing if they weren't so dang tasty. The sausages to take and bake or roast or however you choose to eat them are so good that no one else in the family will eat them from anywhere else now when we want to make sausage and peppers at home. The pastas in the freezer are also extremely delicious as well as their fresh mozzarella. The fact that they have the white grain and wheat grain of so many different breads gives you a lot of variety even before you get to the focaccias. I'm a number 14 or 18 kinda gal sandwich consumer, and the prosciutto is still lingering on my lips. If I want to make any changes (add greens take something off, etc) they just say absolutely and make it delicious. Not going to debate whether or not Anthony's or Sergio's is better as they are both excellent in slightly different areas. However Anthony's is much more convenient to access both from a time and parking situation. Not being open on certain days of the week doesn't help when I'm craving some Italian delicacies. read more
