We were selling our home and the buyer used Al Dexter Septic & Drainage (it's who they could get on…read moreshort notice). The man who did the inspection effectively scared the buyer away after noticing the tank level was a bit lower than normal. He began to share conjecture about what the issue could be and essentially said the problems were so bad that they could not be solved. Because of this, the buyer backed out without any willingness to get a second opinion or negotiate. We since had two other reputable and longstanding septic companies in Fairfield County come out to look at the system. The issue turned out to be a very small leak near the drainage pipe of the septic system - a minor $1,200 fix. After having to pay $2K for these other companies to evaluate the problem, we then had to take an offer tens of thousands of dollars less than our original - which we were fortunate enough to have on hand. I'm sure this service is fine for an annual tank pump out, but I would beware when it comes to inspections.

Each time, they charged me far less than I would have expected given the level of effort they put in to giving me some piece of mind back. My house is over 100 years old and the septic system isn't much newer, yet they have always been able to fix clogs and determine what the root cause was each time. Once it was a broken pipe, once it was the outflow of the tank that was blocked, and once it was just a simple clog from too much paper of the wrong sort.
