I already made several reviews on this business in 2018, the only reason why I am writing this again is because today I received a comment on facebook about these reviews from Mary Moravecek, and I am assuming it is because she probably just now red my reviews. I send her a comment telling her that all I said in there was absolutely truth and the fact the he kept $205.00 from me for a very bad job that he did on my hair painting the highlights and not using foiled. He treated me like that because I am Spanish, I was born in Panama and my father had german descendance. All the people as I said to her are white, and that is why are treated like they said, the job is mostly done by the women that work there, there not by him. I agree to the fact that it was my mistake going there by recommendation of a friend in church, and also because I did not feel comfortable since the first time I went there and was so stupid that decided to return. I had to pay somebody to do my hair again, because I was travelling to Panama. I will never recommend this salon to anybody, unless is white totally and exposing anybody to be discriminated the way he did to me and those ladies there. So Mary, if that wow comment signifies that you were surprised, surprised or not I do not care, I am an honest person and I only said exactly how was treated and robbed of my money for something not worth it. If I could give zero stars I would. I made an appointment to get my hair highlighted and cut. I had an important event to go to and was excited about getting my hair done. The next day they called and said they could only cut my hair that Anthony didn't have enough time to do the highlights. The appointment was already made and confirmed! When I told them that I was disappointed and how important this was to me, the lady actually hung up on me! This was incredibly rude and unprofessional! I called Tony today to ask if he had suggestions for a more vibrant and glossy color for my "naturally" red hair. I was in luck, as he just added a new Italian color line at his salon. He did a great job getting the right color and, as always, I left with a fantastic cut. I fully expect rave reviews tomorrow at work. I've been going to Tony's salon in Oak Park since the beginning and am a long-time, loyal patron. My stylist moved to this salon and all is great the only downside is having to pay for parking however it doesn't cost very much. The staff is very friendly and easy to get appt on short notice. A year ago I moved and didn't want to drive into the city for my hair appointments anymore, so I called around to different salons that carried the line of color I use. On my third phone call I reached Anthony and was greeted in a friendly manner and so, I made an appointment. He mixed up my pull through color perfectly and was also able to accommodate the base color, even though I forgot to tell him the formula and color line. It has now been a year of going to see him and my hair looks amazing. The staff as well as Tony are very professional, accommodating and treat their customers like family. I loved it when they charge $30 for a hair cut. They always do a great job on the hair cuts there. But when there prices jumped from $30 to $50, I could not justify spend that much there. Also, I feel that they do not know how to cut curly hair so much. If I show a picture of what I would like done they sometimes push me into a different direction saying that it would be hard to keep up that style. I would prefer if they could cut the hair similar to the photo and take into consideration my curly hair... They do have great coloring here and the cuts are a bit above average. Also the cut typically looks better the day it is done and I can never seem to style it like that again, which frustrates me. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with this place. I get off at the Oak Park green line stop and I see it everyday. I've wanted to check it out for awhile, and I called today to see if they had any evening appointments for a quick haircut. The receptionist said there was a 5:30 pm available, and it told her I get off the train right at that time and asked if it was okay if I was just a couple minutes late. She was really snippy and said if I couldn't be there right on time it wouldn't work. I said okay, and then was going to say something else but she had already started to say goodnye so I just said goodbye back. I mean, I get that I wanted a last minute appointment, but her tone was pretty snooty and rude with me. I'm not upset that they didn't have an appointment, but I am upset about the snootiness and inflexibility for less than five minutes. It's a shame because the train dropped me off right at 5:30 and I was walking past the salon at 5:31. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

My college aged son starting seeing Michelle here about six years ago. He has wavy hair that other stylists have had issue with. She gives him a great haircut every time. He waits to see her when he's in town. My high school and college daughters started coming here along with me when George moved to the salon. I've had him as a stylist for over ten years. He's innovative and switches my look around so it does not get stale. I love the balayage highlights- hand painting makes them look much more natural than the foils. My high school senior recently went to Brittany for a cut and her first hair color, after George was out ill on her appointment day. She loved Brittany's personality and will go back to her for color touch ups. Overall, a great salon. Sometimes the employee talk irks me, meaning the topics some choose to broadcast for all to hear are perhaps not what the local community would agree with, but that's not enough of a deterrent for me to stay away. Anthony Lullo.......This guy couldn't cut his way out of a paper bag. Avoid this place like the plague. Went in there for Hair Cut because it was close to me and reviews seem decent. I explained how I wanted my haircut, showed him a picture and even a YouTube Video of a Stylist doing a demonstration on how to cut the hair for this style. What I got is a complete butchered up cut. Unlike most people, I figure hair grows, who cares if you get a bad cut. Thanks to Anthony Lullos I have never had to see if I would feel the same way given a wretched hair cut. I live in DC now and always go to Tony whenever I am home. I refuse to find another hairdresser. I trust Tony enough where I just say "do whatever" and he does. It is well worth the $35. I save brain cells by not having to think of what I want done with my hair. The place is clean, the people are friendly and Tony is both personable and pretty damn hilarious. I also get mani/pedis there. The equipment is clean and they have an abundant selection of nail polish. I think it is pretty cool you can trust your stylist enough to have him "do whatever" to your hair. read more

Today was my first visit to Anthony Lullo's Hair Designs. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and a clean, inviting salon. I sat down with Tony and had a consultation after which he described his suggestions for my hair. I immediately felt comfortable with Tony and recognized his professionalism and expertise. My hair color and highlights are perfect. Tony also cut and styled my hair - no easy feat as my hair is fine, curly, frizzy and difficult to style but I LOVED it! I have very thick wavy/curly Irish hair, and in the past it's been hard to find someone who knows how to work with it in it's natural state instead of trying to straighten it and cutting it that way. I called the salon on a whim because it's near where I worked and made an appointment with Tony, who I was told could work on curly hair. I didn't go in there with a photo or a plan, just put myself at his mercy and I couldn't be happier. I've had a few haircuts with him now and will never go anywhere else again. Is there such a thing as a "hair whisperer"? If so, then Tony is it. He does a great job working with the natural texture, and one thing I really appreciate is that he can tell you if a style will work with your hair or not. Oh, and while it's not Supercuts prices it's definitely reasonable for a small upscale salon. (And if you don't want to pay more than $9.95 for a haircut then you deserve what you get anyway) Curly-haired women, save yourself some pain and frustration and make an appointment with him right now. I called around for a last minute hair color/cut 3 years ago and everyone turned me down except Anthony Lullos!! Timing is everything, as now I only go here when I need to get my "hair did" ;) The front desk is accommodating and friendly! Kate always does a fantastic job on my shampoo/conditioning. She makes sure I don't leave with color on my face, a girls got to look like the colors legit after all. And last, but certainly not least, my stylist Michael, adore!! He gives me the best, honest advice! As he knows what I am most comfortable with in the long run, he nevers lets me leave with a color or cut decision I would regret. His advice is always spot on! I have pretty easy hair to work with - straight, medium thickness, and I can usually get away with wash-and-go. I can't say whether they'd be any good with customers who have specific needs. Armed with only vague instructions like "short-er" "professional" and "a little longer in back", Lisa was able to create a haircut that really worked with my face shape, age, and figure. Do not get your hair styled here. I went right before prom for a simple Dutch braid on both sides of my head. They were extremely uneven and when I asked to fix it the lady said it was fine. Paid $70 for something I took apart immediately after. The only reason I don't give 1 star is because the rest of the staff was polite. DO NOT GET STYLED HERE. read more

Lullos has been my go-to for a long time though I live downtown. Today they came through big again. I called last minute to move up my appt earlier AND to ask for additional appt for nephews haircut. "No problem". Tony took me early which was immense scheduling help. Michael who is great picked up my nephew. This was all amidst a very busy pre-holiday evening for them! This review is long overdue as I've going there for years (and know so many others who do as well or are asking me where I get my hair done and then start going to see Dena) I have been so happy with the skill of the stylists, their knowledge base, the flexibility and friendly atmosphere that make the entire experience so enjoyable. Over the past year, it has been Dena who has styled my hair and it is truly a work of art what a difference she can make in the texture of my hair which is very fine and tends to be curly so it gets very frizzy. I look like a different person after seeing her. Even my own mother once asked me if I was wearing a wig because my hair looked so different. I need to carry Dena's cards because I am complimented so frequently. I've actually made a referral to someone who stopped me in a restaurant to ask who my stylist is- that person has gone and continues now. I cannot say enough about how skilled Dena is. I also love the sense of responsibility and pride that Dena takes in her work. She wants my hair to be as healthy and look as good as I do. It's a good partnership!
