My big gripe about New Rochelle is that there isn't a place around to grab a solid deli sandwich (would love to be proven wrong here, please!), which led me to search the nearby town of Mamaroneck. Holy shit, I was not disappointed. There were plenty of foundation sandwich mentions on yelp, but how could you help but not be intrigued by one called, "The Godfather," featuring six different types of meat? Well, friends, I can assure you that the taste surpassed the intrigue. This bohemeth was awesome. You can't take the whole thing down in a sitting but it also keeps very well for a 2 day lunch dinner hybrid combo. Can't wait to get back to Anthony's and try some other sandwiches. Just wish it was down the block from me instead of two towns over. Its worth the trek though. read more

Got sandwiches here...quick and easy. Quality of sandwiches was great. Would have been better if they took cards but there is an ATM on the premises. Also, there is nowhere to eat in the deli at all even though there is ample room in the parking lot to throw up a picnic table or two. Would be awesome if some sort of outdoor seating area was there. Great food terrible service. Seeing the employee yell at a customer was immensely disturbing. Upon entering with my sister her order was taken by a decent gentleman. 3 minutes another man asked if I was being helped I said nope, and he asked if I was with her, I said yes, the. He literally yelled at me saying I should've ordered my sandwich with hers and didn't take my order. Everyone in the store had looked at us, my little sister confused and frightened. Soon after the first employee who took my sisters order came over and said, sorry man I didn't know you wanted anything. Firstly, don't ever yell at a customer for your own organization of serving being flawed. Secondly, don't hire people who can't treat people with respect, zero patience. I was infuriated but still went with paying for my eventual order. Your employees shouldn't assume customers know to order their sandwiches together. Even if I did, I didn't have the chance to order it. That man made me feel terrible and literally YELLED at me with people wondering what just happened. The men behind the counter were all yelling at each other and arguing over a bunch of different topics, while making food. That REALLY made me feel like I was home. The service here is very weird. Every time I've been there I feel like I did something wrong. Everything seems to be slapped together and ingredients aren't exactly different fresh or anything besides generic deli meat that you would find in any corner of the tri-state area from Piscataway all the way to Waterbury Connecticut. So here's my question all these five star reviews what exactly makes it five star is it the fact that you walk into a place that has a massive line with massive confusion? The fact that you never pay the same amount for the same thing twice? The fact that there's an uneasy hostility? My whole thing is if the food was fantastic and amazing and unique I deal with it. But the food is like at best average. OH MY!! Sandwiches are tremendous. Been here only 2x but each time I came, I tried their signature item. Breakfast Barge and Godfather. Barge was so good and packed with flavor. Crisp bacon, savory sausage and smokey ham plus melted american cheese and fried eggs on a long seeded hero. Sodium and cholesterol went through the roof that day lol. :) Then there is the Godfather wedge....unbelievably good. Packed with all the great Italian meats plus provolone, lettuce and hot peppers. Pretty much everything on the menu is excellent, huge sandwiches and cheap prices. Texan, Chubby Chicken, Balboa, Gobbler, you name it- its awesome. As good as their sandwiches are, I have to say that they make the best breakfast sandwiches in Westchester. I absolutely love this place and always have since I moved into this town in 96. I never write reviews but this place deserves the credit. They always have fast, good service and great guys working there. Now lately there's been this new guy that works there, don't know his name, don't know anything about him, other than he looks like the most miserable person. I've NEVER encountered anyone with his demeanor before at Anthonys. Seems to always have an attitude the last few times I've been there. Everyone minus that guy is great so don't let it deter you. He's tall, probably in his mid to late twenties, with dark hair. Probably hard to know who I'm talking about but I'm sure other people have gotten the same vibe from him. But another great item that is great to get are the chubby chickens. It is one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. This place, as many will tell you, is a local favorite. They're sandwiches have a nice variety and, when done right, are delicious. However, having gone here for years, I can tell you that the store is far from perfect. There's an assortment of pastries and breads on the counter that often look like they're about to develop life via mold. That's not my primary concern however. My concern is with the sandwiches themselves. I believe that when I buy one from Anthony's, there's a fifty-fifty chance that it'll be good. The bread is bizarre for often tasting burnt despite not having been warmed or toasted. It'll overpower the rest of the sandwich's flavor when this is the case and kind of ruins it. Otherwise, there's another problem with any cooked meats as they will undercook bacon and overcook chicken. I doubt that I'll ever just outright stop going Anthony's since the sandwiches are quite affordable for their size, but I can't help but feel they could be better. read more
