At first I didn't think it would be very good and a little pricey. A chicken cutlet sandwich with mozzarella & ham was not making me shake in my boots. After my first bite, the clouds parted, the sunbeam shone down and I was addicted! The chicken was seasoned oh-so-right, the fresh mozzarella is melt-in-your-mouth gooey goodness and the ham right there to accentuate the chicken and complement the cheese. OK, so they may run out of your favorite variety or potato chips from time to time but that may be about it. The staff are mostly young, college-age kids but they are efficient and do their job well. Most of them speak at least conversational Italian which they love to put to use. Lots of regulars go here and the banter from the staff can be amusing at times. If you're new, you may find it a little bracing but it's all good-natured in my opinion. They may not be overly "smiley" and engaging toward everyone but I'd rather have good food than good chit chat anyway, especially when you're trying to get back to work. The owners are always there and they make sure your experience is satisfactory. Lunchtime can be pretty busy as several local residents and workers queue up. Still using Boars Head but still make that taste better than anyone else remotely in the area. Got the chicken chicken too. Came with mozz which was great and pickled peppers. Honestly wasn't in love with them but did the job. Think it would be much better with piquante peppers. Obviously not Italian but pretty sure that's the flavor profile they were going for. Could have used mayo as well. I didn't ask for it assumed it was a thing. Added some later so it wasn't so dry. Bread is by far the best you'll have at any sandwich place in Westchester. Pretty much of a new customer at this unique sandwich shop i've been going there for about six months now was turned onto it by a friend and now I consider myself very lucky not only did I turn more friends on to this amazing sandwich shop but I go on a regular basis I am also in the restaurant business And I could honestly say without a doubt that this eatery has the finest and most delicious sandwiches in my opinion in New York. no one comes closer to Steve's magic . Him and his wife (Lucy) do a tremendous job . They are very hospitable and you cannot ask for a better experience usually I create my own sandwich which Steve is kind enough to make it for me , called the Richie special and it is unbelievable the only bad part is that I eventually I have to finish eating it. Lol Steve makes his own little fresh mozzarella's , Fried plant and fried zucchini , which I always have him make me a plate of each and I take it home to my wife She loves it . Casa D'Italia is a staple in the Harrison community and has been operating since 1997. On Halstead ave, you will find several good places to eat. But casa has proved that their quality is something they pride themselves on consistently. When you walk in it's a really well put together spot, very clean all the time, has a modern and upscale look to it. They have plenty of seating available which is always good. They have a sandwich menu that will put you in a daze for about 5 minutes offering mouthwatering combinations. The "Bronx Tale" is their specialty and everyone who is a Harrison resident will probably tell you that's the sandwich to go for, and frankly I don't disagree with them. It consists of Hot Capicolo, chicken cutlet, fresh mozz, sun-dried peppers and pesto on either a hero or club roll. And if you want to get fancy you can always request ciabatta bread which is excellent. They toast sandwich so the bread receives that char on top which makes for a great crunch. Every deli should have the same toaster as Casa, that thing is a gold mine. The mozzarella is creamy and fresh, they make it in house in the back. They get their bread from Terranova bakery in the Bronx. Every morning they get that fresh bread delivery. They must run through a ton of bread each day, as this deli is extremely popular not just among Harrison residents but other surrounding towns as well. The chicken cutlets are lightly fried, juicy and tender. They aren't the best that I've had in the area but definitely still more than respectable. The sun-dried peppers are the X-factor in the bronx tale sandwich. The Sweet and savory flavor mixed in with just a tiny bit of heat from the hot capicolo is a great mixture. Also, the iced cappuccino's at Casa are mandatory, you must try one and thank me later. I've had the chicken parm before and it was really good, the bottom of the bread was nice and moist and the ratio of chicken to cheese was spot on. Casa also has hot food available which is very solid if you want to have a well balanced meal. People will always talk about the prices, and while Casa is a little more on the expensive side, you get what you pay for. When you get a big bronx tale wedge you will be full for 6 hours. It's quality all around and if you want the best you gotta pay for the best. In my opinion, casa is in the conversation for top 3 deli's in Westchester. They are that good, and the staff works very hard each to day to provide for their customers. There's a lot of people behind the counter and they each can make a mean sandwich. I give them a lot of credit, some of them have been there for years and years. They continue to pump out quality sandwiches on a daily basis. Friendly staff that always makes sure you get what you asked for. They will double check with you at times which I appreciate as a customer. It's better to ask then guess and mess up the order. To my children, this is practically an alma mater, to be revisited on each visit to the area. And I will concede this is a very, very good sandwich joint, but it is not my favorite because of value. An Arthur Avenue, $12.50 on wedge, makes my point. I do not take issue with the quality of the imported meats and cheeses, and the broccoli rabe is perfectly cooked. But the sandwich is a third smaller and nearly a third more expensive than the last hero I had at Mike's Deli in the Arthur Avenue market, and the meats and cheeses on that sandwich also hailed from Italia. The chicken sandwiches (Nicky's Surprise, the Nonna) are a bit less, and just as delicious, but still a good bit more expensive than average. Yes, the quality is better here than at Anthony's, the Royal Scarlet or the Firehouse. But at the prices they charge, and portion size they offer, Casa is competing with Dante's, and that's a whole 'nother ball game. read more

I want to start by saying, this is my favorite Italian deli. What I am about to share is very personal and should not deter anyone away from dining at this place. That being said, I can't keep this inside any longer... I've been working in Harrison for a couple months now. Casa d'italia has been my go-to sandwich spot for whenever my mom doesn't pack me lunch. It's got a real, authentic Italian delicatessen vibe to it, with high quality food and friendly service. Usually you can tell the reputation of an establishment based on how long the lines are and every time I go to this place, the line is out the door. Being a huge fan of their chicken cutlet, I decided to venture out of the build your own sandwich mentality and order one of the menus "classics". The sandwich I chose is called The Casa Special. I figured, how could I go wrong choosing the house specialty? The answer is, very. Words cannot express how unprepared my immune system was for this abusive assault on my taste buds. Some of the immediate symptoms I experienced: profusive sweating, hair loss, confusion, paranoia, that pervasive feeling like someone might be trying to kill me, etc. The ingredients themselves are palatable on their own, but paired together quite literally almost poisoned me. It tasted like someone scraped the gangrene infected foot of a soldier in a medical tent during the American civil war and smeared it on the bread of this sandwich. Whoever made this sandwich must be a sadist, and whoever enjoys this sandwich must hate themselves. After I took a bite of this sandwich I considered ending my own life. So I have patronized this establishment for a few months now; I never expected I would be patronized in a far worse way with that tripe you call a sandwich. The individual ingredients are comestible on their own, but combined together created a medley of sinister waste I wouldn't serve to a dog I liked! If you need some imagery to relate my experience, take yourself with me on a magic school bus ride into the deepest recesses of Steve Buscemis mouth where the smell of his cavities and oral plague would probably smell more appetizing than this sandwich was. Only Ms. Frizzle crashes into a pole to off herself on a class trip where this lunch was packed. Count yourselves lucky there is a statute of limitations on assault in New York state because my taste buds would otherwise have your asses in court for compensatory damages. The US intelligence organizations need never to revisit the practice of water boarding to get intel from prisoners/terrorists, the only thing they would need to do is serve them this sandwich once and bluff about it being the only thing they would eat for the rest off their lives - I would venture to guess, secrets would be given or depending on the surveillance of that cell the prisoner would Epstien themselves. I'm fairly certain it is going to come out tasting better than it did going in. It would have been less upsetting to just go hungry. That's how you've made me feel. I don't know if i shall ever again be able to eat at your place.
