My wife and I visited this food-deli-coffee shop today for the first time while visiting Maine this week and enjoyed our lunch experience. The location was very convenient off of Rt. 1 in beautiful, historic York, ME, parking was limited and tight, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the outside of the building was okay, not crazy beautiful or eye-catching in my opinion[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], we were not greeted upon entering, it is kind of chaotic inside for a new customer and it took us a few minutes to figure things out, how to order, etc., the lunch sandwiches that we order we HUGE!, I ordered a tun sandwich which was by far the biggest tuna sandwich I've ever ordered anywhere in the world, employees were efficient and friendly, prices were surprisingly reasonable, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the inside of the store was clean and did not smell, it was pleasantly air-conditioned, and the restroom was clean and did not smell.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Anthony's yet! We LOVE this place. We stop in at least 1-2 times every time we're in York. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's busy and for good reason![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their breakfast sandwiches (grab and go) are my favorite. Real, quality ingredients. Have tried their grab and go desserts, salads, and sandwiches before, as well as bagels and coffee from the cafe. We were blown away yesterday when we tried a burger and their pastrami sandwich combo. They use Boar's Head products, which always tells me a place knows what they're doing. I will always recommend Anthony's. I remember Tony when he was alive. It has expanded so much over the last 30 plus years and it has always been good. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, beach food, snacks, drinks, dessert...they have it all. It's not cheap but you get a lot for your money. Service is always prompt and polite. I recommended Anthony's to some tourists and, in a condescending tone, told me they would never eat in a gas station. Little do they know that Anthony's is a little gem with a great Cafe, bakery, prepared food section, beer fridge, and makers of some of the best sandwiches in the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Anthony's is a VERY busy place! The gas pumps are always packed with vehicles, and the parking spots for the deli are usually full[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once inside, there's a coffee/bagel shop to the right, and a deli and a small convenience section to your left.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's a large variety of cold drinks available near the deli area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The deli is kind of chaotic, and always busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They offer subs, wraps, pizza, and the like. Prices are a bit steep, and the food is average. The main draw is it's location. It's on the main road, right off of a major highway on/off ramp. read more

We ordered food (subs, salads & desserts) from Anthony's Catering for my son's wedding rehearsal celebration. Everything was wonderful! Many of the guests raved about the subs, the Italian subs specifically, as well as the desserts - which were delicious! Tammy was great to work with! You really only go here for a few things, like whoopie pies, pizza, etc., but I decided to try a few other items. The garlic bread's bread was bought from Hannaford, and was undercooked, just make it yourself, instructions below. Mozzarella sticks were probably reheated, but there were a good amount. Pizza's usually really good, I love the crust. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place also has a nice seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And without further ado, since I know you all care; The garlic bread recipe. - Hannaford baguette, cut 1/3 off and cut in half like a sandwich. - Microwave 2 tbsp butter for 45 seconds, then add. - Season with good amount of parsley, garlic powder, and thyme. - Put cast iron on burner, set temp to however patient/impatient you are. - Cook until it's golden brown - Eat and then make more because you underestimated how good it is. read more

When I started making regular visits to York, Maine I was told that there was a gas station that served great food out on Route 1 not far from Stonewall Kitchen. I was dubious. I've seen too many AM/PM or Extra Mile or Circle K shops inside gas stations, and I wasn't sure I believed it. Now I believe. The right way to think of Anthony's is that it's a good pizza shop and bakery that just happens to have gas pumps out front. I'm pretty sure they bake all of the pies and cakes and bagels on the premises; they certainly taste like they were baked this morning. I've eaten food from Anthony's about half a dozen times now, and the quality has been consistently excellent. I live in California, so I can't say I go to Anthony's regularly, but whenever I am nearby, I always stop in to get something. read more

Our pizza is made right here on the premises and our dough is made fresh by our chef's and never from frozen. Who wants frozen pizza anyway? Our deli sandwiches are the best value in the Seacoast and we use only the finest Boar's Head Cold Cuts and our own store cooked Roast Beef.

History

Established in 1990.

Anthony's was founded in 1990 with a mission to provide the freshest home made food to the area. In 1996 there was a major expansion and our gas station was added to the property. Anthony's has a lot of firsts. We were the first shop to feature fresh ground gourmet coffee in Southern Maine and our relationship with Green Mountain Coffee Roaster is still strong. We were also the first to feature Boar's Head Cold Cuts in Southern Maine. We now serve in excess of 1000 customers/day and are dedicated to providing the best service and food in the area.

We arrived and sat at a picnic table with an umbrella so our pup could be in the shade. We were having a great time, so excited to be there and amped to try their current taps. Just as our apps were being brought out, a gust of wind lifted the umbrella clear out of the table, spilling my wife's drink and sending the heavy metal umbrella pole directly into my face and chest HARD. My wife, the server, and I were all stunned for a moment. Wife thought I was bleeding until we realized it was rust on my face and chest from the pole. Server asked if I was okay, clearly feeling a little awkward, and with my hand to my face I said "I think so? If I'm not bleeding, I guess?, still totally stunned and feeling some pain. Face throbbing, my wife asked for an ice pack, and the server brought us one. We totally understand that it was a freak accident, and that it wasn't our server's fault. But it got awkward from there as the crew working became avoidant. The girl that sat us saw me teary eyed from the pain, holding the ice pack to my face and asked if we were okay... but that was it. The atmosphere quickly became awkward, and considering the pain I was in combined with feeling totally weird from the staff, we asked for a box to take our uneaten food to go. Server brought our check and we were a little surprised to see that we were still charged for the drinks (one of which had spilled because of the umbrella) and the food. We paid cash, still left a nice tip, and left, wanting to get out of the sun and keep an eye on the swelling. We were really disappointed in how the situation was handled by the crew. We weren't looking for our apps to be comped, but it would have been nice for a manager to come by, apologize, offer to refill my wife's beer, and maybe move us to a different table since we were no longer in the shade. The team didn't go around and check the other tables to make sure the umbrellas were safe and secure, either, which was shocking considering what had just happened. We were really looking forward to hanging out, trying a little bit of everything off the menu, buying some cans or growlers to take home... but we left with a swollen, bruised face and chest and an uneaten $90 box of food that we ended up tossing because the mood was completely ruined. We rarely leave a negative review anywhere, but I guess this is just a PSA to check your picnic table umbrella if you sit outside, and hopefully a learning opportunity for management in how to improve customer service and safety for patrons.

The crust is way better now -- perfect crunch on the outside, soft inside -- and the sauce has that real homemade vibe. Cheese ratio is on point and the toppings were super fresh. Also gotta give credit to the staff, they're way more dialed in now. Friendly, fast, and the order came out exactly right. Sometimes places don't care after you've been once, but these guys clearly listened and leveled up. Respect. Ambiance is dope here they got arcade games that are cute for the kids If you haven't been in a minute, give them another shot -- they earned all 5 stars this time.

The shop and grounds are pretty, and there's outdoor seating. They pack the items very well for transport. There are some samples available, always fun.

It was very clean inside and they really lean into the industrial brewery vibe. They had outdoor seating, which we took advantage of since the weather was so nice. The only thing about the brewery is that it's so close to the ocean but the ocean isn't visible at all. The outdoor patio is situated at a busy crossroads and none of the charming center of town or ocean are visible. You kind of have to remove yourself from your beach vacation when you walk through the doors.

The guy explained to me about the different lobster types. The one I ordered was a soft shelled. It took them about 10 minutes to steam it. I didn't have any butter or tools, but he said I probably won't need it and he was right. I took my lobster to the beach and ate it there...and it was AMAZING. Sweet, meaty and delightful.
