My wife and I visited this food-deli-coffee shop today for the first time while visiting Maine this week and enjoyed our lunch experience. The location was very convenient off of Rt. 1 in beautiful, historic York, ME, parking was limited and tight, the outside of the building was okay, not crazy beautiful or eye-catching in my opinion, we were not greeted upon entering, it is kind of chaotic inside for a new customer and it took us a few minutes to figure things out, how to order, etc., the lunch sandwiches that we order we HUGE!, I ordered a tun sandwich which was by far the biggest tuna sandwich I've ever ordered anywhere in the world, employees were efficient and friendly, prices were surprisingly reasonable, the inside of the store was clean and did not smell, it was pleasantly air-conditioned, and the restroom was clean and did not smell. read more

Honestly some of the best pizza we have had in a long time and the gas station vibe outside makes it feel like a hidden gem. Staff on phone ordering and at checkout were super friendly. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Anthony's yet! We LOVE this place. We stop in at least 1-2 times every time we're in York. It's busy and for good reason! Their breakfast sandwiches (grab and go) are my favorite. Real, quality ingredients. Have tried their grab and go desserts, salads, and sandwiches before, as well as bagels and coffee from the cafe. We were blown away yesterday when we tried a burger and their pastrami sandwich combo. They use Boar's Head products, which always tells me a place knows what they're doing. I will always recommend Anthony's. I remember Tony when he was alive. It has expanded so much over the last 30 plus years and it has always been good. Discovered Anthony's from a Yelp search after the wait at When Pigs Fly was out the door! We drove down the road 7 minutes to discover this gem attached to a gas station. Food, glorious food! My Turkey Terrific Sammy was too big! The BLT had lots of freshly fried (not microwaved) bacon. No skimpy sandwiches here! The full service bakery is amazing as well. But wait, there's pizza too. There's also a prepared foods grab-n-go section near the beer. There's a coffee shop too with even more pastry options. I even got some local blueberry-peanut butter dog treats! The public bathrooms could use some love, but I've seen worse! There's bar style seating along the wall of the coffee shop for about 5 people, so plan on taking out or picnicking at nearby rest area. I recommended Anthony's to some tourists and, in a condescending tone, told me they would never eat in a gas station. Little do they know that Anthony's is a little gem with a great Cafe, bakery, prepared food section, beer fridge, and makers of some of the best sandwiches in the area. Anthony's is a VERY busy place! The gas pumps are always packed with vehicles, and the parking spots for the deli are usually full. Once inside, there's a coffee/bagel shop to the right, and a deli and a small convenience section to your left. There's a large variety of cold drinks available near the deli area. The deli is kind of chaotic, and always busy. They offer subs, wraps, pizza, and the like. Prices are a bit steep, and the food is average. The main draw is it's location. It's on the main road, right off of a major highway on/off ramp. read more

You really only go here for a few things, like whoopie pies, pizza, etc., but I decided to try a few other items. The garlic bread's bread was bought from Hannaford, and was undercooked, just make it yourself, instructions below. Mozzarella sticks were probably reheated, but there were a good amount. Pizza's usually really good, I love the crust. Place also has a nice seating area. And without further ado, since I know you all care; The garlic bread recipe. - Hannaford baguette, cut 1/3 off and cut in half like a sandwich. - Microwave 2 tbsp butter for 45 seconds, then add. - Season with good amount of parsley, garlic powder, and thyme. - Put cast iron on burner, set temp to however patient/impatient you are. - Cook until it's golden brown - Eat and then make more because you underestimated how good it is. read more

When I started making regular visits to York, Maine I was told that there was a gas station that served great food out on Route 1 not far from Stonewall Kitchen. I was dubious. I've seen too many AM/PM or Extra Mile or Circle K shops inside gas stations, and I wasn't sure I believed it. Now I believe. The right way to think of Anthony's is that it's a good pizza shop and bakery that just happens to have gas pumps out front. I'm pretty sure they bake all of the pies and cakes and bagels on the premises; they certainly taste like they were baked this morning. I've eaten food from Anthony's about half a dozen times now, and the quality has been consistently excellent. I live in California, so I can't say I go to Anthony's regularly, but whenever I am nearby, I always stop in to get something. read more
