We arrived last weekend around 2pm. We were given a small menu. I asked for dinner menu but was told they have a limited menu for lunch. I asked if they had pasta, I was told "no". I asked do you have salmon. I was told closest thing they had was steelhead. I asked for rice pilaf instead of fries. I was told they only serve fries at lunch. The coleslaw tasted really bland, not the usual and it was served in a small container. A $60.00 ticket, for mediocre food. To top it off we were both were violently sick when we got home. I've previously written a review on this place before and unfortunately I really feel the need to write a new one. The last time we stopped in we only got dessert and drinks and had a wonderful experience but this time was extremely different. We made a reservation for our anniversary and arrived early, and thankfully were seated despite the early arrival. Our server was the bartender so she was very knowledgable about the drinks and very friendly. We were however disappointed that the drink specials were stilll "winter drinks" despite it being the END of April. We ordered the shrimp and crab dip to start which was absolutely incredible. It was the perfect temperature and just delicious, there isn't a thing I would've changed about it. Since it was our anniversary, we both decided to order the Ribeye, despite it being pricey it sounded very good. Unfortunately, I could tell that it was taking too long for the temperature we had ordered and how not super busy the restaurant was. My boyfriend ordered medium and I ordered medium rare and the first round of steaks both came out on the brink of well done. We of course sent them both back only to have to wait even longer for the second round to still come out over done. One of the steaks could have passed for a medium but still unacceptable to get them both wrong on the second try. The manager didn't really seem to care and even asked "well do you want another one?" It seemed like a ridiculous question in my opinion. We made a reservation and ordered steak, we have yet to consume any steak so of course we still want it?? She then came back another significant amount of time later and only came back with one steak, despite both of us having ordered a new steak. It was better than the previous two, but I could definitely tell that the steak had been rushed to cook, as if we were inconveniencing them LOL. At this point, we were really upset. It was our anniversary, which we had noted on the reservation, and we were now on our third round of steak, which they had only brought one of the two steaks out. She expected my boyfriend to have eaten on the second round alone and for me to eat alone on the third round, or for one of us to have eaten the cold steak since it had taken so long to even bring out the last round. I told her I really was not trying to be difficult since I myself have been in the service industry for almost five years, but I really don't think there should be a $65 steak on the menu if the kitchen staff clearly could not get a steak temperature right. She seemed very unsympathetic and cold about our whole dining experience and did not seem to truly care. Even when she offered to send us a gift card she spelled my name wrong despite me verbalizing the spelling for her. Our server was very kind and apologetic and seemed way more genuine than the manager on duty. She constantly made sure we were good on drinks and apologized way more than the manager ever did, which was never by the way. We assured the server it wasn't her fault but we were extremely disappointed by our experience. I would only recommend coming here to sit at the bar to order drinks and appetizers/ or dessert, but honestly, spend your money elsewhere. This place is way to far of a drive and way too overpriced to get three rounds of overcooked steak and to leave hungry and upset. After never getting to eat any of the steaks, all the manager comped off the bill were the steaks (which again we never got to eat) even after communicating to her that we expected something else be taken off since we had now been there for almost two hours and not had a correct entree to consume. Firstly our waiter Steven ( AMAZING) thank you for understanding . Two , the drinks we had at first please .. idk if it was the bartender today but he or she needs to be re-trained IMMEDIATELY! There is no way these drinks are supposed to be summer time specials and all you taste is pure alcohol... Drink 1 : peach daiquiri , listen it was nothing but ice and alcohol with orange coloring in it. I have ZEROOOOOOOO CLUE on what that was but please be very forreal . Nothing was fresh about it besides the ICE! Drink 2: Peach Cosmo ( y'all thought i was about to say something nice) I at least thought i was going to taste the cranberry juice that was " in there" NOPE! Maybe ? I was going to see some razzle dazzle on the glass since that's what the description said oh babyyy wrong straight vodka with a splash of whatever coloring was there . Food time : Corn & crab chowder : No seasoning, so add as much pepper you need !! Crab & shrimp dip ( maybe the only edible thing on that menu ) add your pepper though . Tasted like a tuna salad sandwich . That's just me being honest . Wagyu bacon bleu cheese burger ; if i were to show you the picture of the 2 bites i took and the 3 bites my wife took of this burger that would tell you how gross it was. I haven't been here in a while but I like to come here for my birthday. I share a birthday month with my husband and a friend and his wife and so when we do our birthday dinner, we try to choose a pretty nice place. I had the seafood pasta with a lovely Caesar. The Caesar is freshly made and the pasta has a light sauce that's neither cloying or stuffy. The place has outdoor seating that is literally waterfront. It can get a bit windy, so be prepared. Inside, there's a lovely fireplace to keep you toasty warm. Only thing about the design is that it can get quite hot if you are sitting in the sunlight. The service is so-so. What I would expect from a nicer food establishment but not something I would consider as one of my best experiences of customer service. If you're looking for a special night out, this is definitely one of the places I think of. Is it the best place for seafood? No. But it's pretty darn good! read more

Gorgeous restaurant! We had to wait, but only for 5 minutes, arrived at 6p. When we left less than 90 minutes later, there were quite a few people waiting to be seated. We came at the right time. Service was fantastic! We didn't have to wait long for anything, the runners always picked up our empty plates as they past by and our waitress was very attentive and always nearby. The food was delicious! The fettuccine was very moist and saucy, not dry. The pork chop was tender and cooked perfectly. Crème Brûlée was great, would have been better with some fresh berries on top. The table bread was good, didn't come with butter. We asked for some butter and oil/balsamic. The waitress brought back melted butter...wasn't worth the bother of asking for butter pats. I've been to this place few times and it's nice. the interior and exterior of the restaurant was very pretty, especially since it was outside of the water. The service was good too, it was standard. The first time when I went I had a wonderful experience with one of the deserts they had. It was the berry shortcake and OH MY GOSH IT IS SO GOOD. Sometimes out of nowhere I crave it. it's probably then best dessert I had no joke. even a waiter saw my shocked face when I ate it and smiled. Now about the entrees, they're pretty good. We came in last week for happy hour, and the experience wasn't good. This was only our 2nd time here. The first time was last summer in the dining room and it was fine though nothing special, and we recalled the food being good though more expensive than it should have been, which was only justified because of the fabulous view. This time we sat in the bar which wasn't busy when we first arrived, yet still waited at least 10 minutes for our server to come over. Since he was pleasant enough, we ignored the fact that he took the order at the table that had come in a few minutes AFTER us first, and because he doubled as the bartender and handled dining room drinks, too. Well, he took our drinks and dinner order and returned maybe another 5 minutes later with our drinks but not the bread we'd asked for to go with our drinks. I ordered a vodka tonic and with my very first sip through the straw, something solid came through. It was red and chunky with shiny skin, and looked like a chopped up bit of vegetable (a red pepper perhaps?) that had survived the dishwasher? We waited for our server to return so I could get a replacement drink, but he appeared busy and never looked our way, so then I pushed the full drink to near the edge of the table to get his attention, but still he never noticed. In his defense, he was busy by then, and there should have been at least one actual server there besides just the bartender, but in our defense, we'd now been there well over 20 minutes with no food, and a drink with gunk in it. The side plates should have been a tipoff since they were also scuzzy on the underside but the tops of the plates seemed okay and we were there already so we ignored it figuring they were at least probably disinfected. And so...after about 25 minutes and having only taken a sip each (my sip was spit out due to the unwanted food chunk) we got up and left. I was worried our server would notice us and call us back and apologize when we just wanted to go elsewhere at that point, but I need not have worried because he never saw us leave, even though we walked out in plain site. We walked past the hostess and she never said goodbye or thank you, and that was that. We had a lovely dinner at our favorite spot downtown instead. read more

After a couple days in Seattle we headed back toward Vancouver and looked up places to stop for lunch in Olympia. Found this place, had good reviews so we decided to try. We were hoping for a slightly more developed area however there wasn't much else around but it was scenic enough. That being said they do have a dock so if you're cruising by on a boat you can "park"for up to 4 hours right below the restaurant that has amazing views of the river. Nice location, it was a beautiful warm day out but we decided to dine in because of the sun (they didn't have their umbrellas up otherwise we probably would have. I had a Bloody Mary but it was nothing special and I'm being kind. Seemed like more of a wine crowd to me. Had the flat bread, not dry at all like that one review said, it was buttery with lots of garlic. My husband had the fish and chips and the fries were really good! He got the four piece and ate it all up. He commented that it was better than the fish and chips at the Athenian which charged $36 bucks for the same plate. I got the salmon salad and was completely blown away! It's everything I'd wished the Taphouse on the waterfront offered for the same thing. Soooo delicious with the seasonal peaches! I have eaten here several times over the years it's been open. It is right on the water of Budd Bay which is nice. Tonight I had the halibut, which I love. I think it was just barely overcooked by 30 to 45 seconds. The craisin pistachio rice was good. The fresh green beans were excellent. I also ordered a peach drop cocktail as peaches are in season. I could have drunk those all night. My friend and I shared the no bake cheesecake with peaches dessert and it was very yummy. Service was good. It's VERY LOUD in this restaurant. Absolute MUST stop -- regardless of whether you are a tourist or a local. I frequent the Anthony's in Bellingham -- it's a mandatory stop when I'm in Bellingham. I find myself in Olympia and whaddya know -- there's an Anthony's! Every experience I have had in Bellingham have been great so figure I'd give it a shot. It's COVID times -- wear your masks! I tried to set up a table outside but it was too crowded. Little did I know - that every seat inside the restaurant is PHENOMENAL. My server was Matt and was top notch in terms of care. Every server I've had at an Anthony's restaurant was top notch! I had an awesome Cobb salad -- just one of the best I've ever had -- really hit the spot. The wine selections were GREAT. But most of all - was the VIEW. I've been to many restaurants in the WORLD and honestly.......this has to be one -- if not the BEST views of any restaurant I have EVER been to! It was the Spousal Unit's birthday. We went to an event at the Washington Centre and hit the Homeport for post-func happy hour. The service was great. The wine fairly priced. The view, on a sunny autumn day - superb!!!! This restaurant has one of the best Puget Sound settings on, well...Puget Sound. We sat in the bar area and had a great view. For me, I've come to know the bar as Club Viagra. There is a bit of over age 50 first date/second marriage stuff going on here. Fun to watch. But don't let that keep you away if you are under 50. There is still that great view, fine service and food too! read more

For our 53rd Anniversary, we thought we would treat ourselves to a memorable dinner at a waterfront restaurant. Service was less than mediocre and both of our dinners were awful. Hubby always orders Salmon. it was not fresh! I ordered the Prawns and when they arrived, I thought to myself that the presentation was gross. Now we are not fancy diners! We rarely go out for dinner. A tab of nearly $90 was way beyond what we normally spend but hubby had made a special effort to book this dinner as a surprise. The only positive was the delicious Peach Cream dessert that was included in our three course dinner. Needless to say, we won't be back! read more

We drove up from San Diego and got a recommendation from a family friend..."if you want an experience...go to Anthony's" So we drove another half hour....and were told we would have to wait an hour and a half for a patio seating....which ..we said ok. However...not only did we have drinks while waiting..thanks to the entire host staff and Bradley... the time elapsed was about 20 minutes. We were seated inside... beautiful window seat at sunset and served by Tia a phenomenal meal cooked by Xavier. I am selective...and I will say I always have a little critique everywhere I go....but not here. Not with this food. Not with this staff. What a beautiful place! Had dinner outside on the patio overlooking the water. Enjoyed the warm evening while watching sail boats pass by. The menu is varied and not a single thing didn't look delicious. Appetizer was the crab, shrimp and artichoke dip with warm bread. YUM!!!! For dinner we opted for the filet (cooked perfectly) with mashed potatoes and green beans. Surrounded by a tasty port Demi sauce and topped with a warm truffle butter. Also tried the wild Alaska lingcod. Topped with thin sliced Yukon potato and a creamy white, onion and dill sauce. Served with pistachio rice pilaf. Cocktail of choice was the roasted pear martini..... I would have like to drink several :-) but stuck with one! Lol Good array of desserts and we chose the burnt cream. Was also very good! Would have preferred it a tad bit warm but served cold was still very delicious. A great place to spend an evening with a date, friend or a group. Due to Co-vid, the bar area is not open for general seating or to wait for a table as they use it for dining to practice social distancing. Calamari for appetizer, creme brûlée, short cake & the duo for desert. Beer, glass of wine and Shirley temples for drinks. With tip we were just over $200 for 4. The food was just o.k., the best was the filet, but it should be for $42, the 1/2 rotisserie chicken also was good, the Cobb salad was ok and the panko breaded fish & chips was not good. The deserts were really good. A: The view of the bay is amazing. Seems like every seat has a great view. This may be what you're paying for. The tables and seats are old and worn, kind of feels like a Denny's style seating. The interior could use a major uplift. S: our waitress was great. Very attentive and fun. Mediocre food, especially for the price. Finally had to go to the bar to get sweetener for my tea as server kept forgetting about us. The Beef Wellington was ordered medium but they felt the need to cut it all in half. Looks like it was at least partially cooked that way as well. The pastry was a little soggy. Steak salad was just stripped steak on a salad. But was way overpriced at $32. The Crab and Corn chowder was terrific...but dang, $17 for a small bowl. Wont be back. read more

Amazing location. Amazing location. Yes, the location is amazing. It's waterfront and hard not to have a table without a great view. We were visiting for lunch and our order included the crab and shrimp open faced TOASTED sandwich, fish'n chips and the tomato basil soup with the grilled cheese sandwich. We also indulged in the peach ice cream. The soup and cheese sandwich combo was good but it actually wasn't fantastic according to the person ordering it. The crab and shrimp toasted sandwich was ordered by two people. One was served hot and the other served cold. Server explained that the toast was toasted in prep and not when ordered. The sandwich was then put in warmer or lights when ordered. The one I received was hot and warm. However, if I'd known how it was kept I probably wouldn't have ordered it. One order wasn't toasted and didn't get warmed up. The slaw needed more dressing. What little was there was good but overall the slaw was fairly dry. The peach ice cream was delicious! Service was okay. With all that said, we have been to several different Anthony restaurants and normally love them. We wILL still go back and try it again. First time back since the covid-era began. I heard they were doing the Surf & Turf specials on Sunday evenings so we decided on dinner here. I made reservations for 5 pm and when we arrived, we were seated within 5 minutes. It was very busy, but the dining area was set up to allow social distancing. Face masks are required when entering the restaurant and until you are seated at your table. The staff all wore face masks including the chefs. We were seated in a booth and with a nice view of the South Sound. Our server was great and attentive to our needs. We both ordered from the Surf & Turf menu and upgraded our steaks to the Certified Angus Beef filet. I highly recommend this. Our steaks were very tender and full of flavor. Another successful dinner experience at one of our favorite restaurants, thank you! read more

On a drizzly afternoon during happy hour I found myself leaving Olympia with a taste for steak. I quickly located Anthony's and I was very pleased that I did. I came in and was sat at the bar with haste. The barkeep was attentive and friendly--offered to take my drink order within minutes and was also my waiter. I ordered the Appletini. What I received was a delicious sweetly spiced rim and the perfect amount of apple vodka. I received my meal within 20 minutes. The salad was delectable a (dare I say) wonderful mouthfeel. The Seared Tenderloin Strips were cooked to my liking and the presentation was superb. Such a distinct, savory, tang to the flavor I couldn't get enough of. Not pictured is the desert I took to go--Burnt Cream. It is served cold just fyi and it is the most decadent confection I have had the pleasure of calling dessert. I'm almost giving it 4 stars for reasons other than the food. We've gone to a lot of other Anthony's and I thought the food was better. I ordered the Lingcod and husband got the steak. His steak was over cooked and a bit salty, and he said it was very chewy. My lingcod was just alright, the texture wasn't smooth intact as I had hoped. I'd probably give this place 5 stars for the view alone. We were lucky enough to see a herd of seals pass by during dinner. The server said she had been working here a few years and it was the first time she had seen so many at once. Their heads would then pop up one at a time every once in a while throughout dinner. We had 5:30 reservations. We were seated at a nice window table and served our water. The waitress came and we ordered cocktails. 20 minutes later we asked her when we would be served our drinks. She said the bar was very busy (5:30 on a Wednesday) but she would check. 10 minutes later she brought our drinks. We each ordered the lobster tail dinner. Both our lobsters were undercooked. Fantastic restaurant overlooking a beautiful waterfront setting. I had the halibut blackened and it was amazing. I ate every bite! Our server was really nice and knowledgeable and the entire experience was one for the record book. You should definitely stop in and try this place out. Hard to beat the location on a clear night. Beautiful setting, great room feel to it with massive windows and an open-ish kitchen layout. Seems to be an older crowd, but we weren't there to party. Noise level is moderate, loud enough you don't have to worry about others listening, but quiet enough you don't have to shout across the table. Gracious hosts, servers were attentive and polite, no attitudes to be had. Excellent service all around. Would definitely recommend the prix fixe menu for early birds. My wife and I both tried different combinations of the four course meal and enjoyed them a lot. She had the shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, and roasted scampi prawns with butternut squash. I had the chimichurri steak bruschetta, Caesar salad, garlic herb chicken, and we both finished it off with seasonal pumpkin jar pies. The steak bruschetta was cold but felt like it should have been served warm, the shrimp cocktail was average, but the entrees were both delicious and generous portions for a prix fixe menu. Again, the view is what you're really coming here for and it doesn't disappoint. The little jar pies to finish the meal make you forget about any shortcomings the earlier courses may have had. If we had come here for a later dinner and paid full price this may be a 3-star review, but for $25 a person it is hard to beat this experience in South Sound. read more

My husband and I tried out Anthony's for our last night in Olympia before heading to Seattle. We did not have reservations as we decided to go last minute. We were seated almost immediately upon arrival with all staff super nice and courteous. Dinner service was prompt & efficient. The caesar salad was wonderful as a starter with just the right amount of dressing and toppings. My husband ordered the Margarita Prawn Pasta with asparagus and I had the Steelhead fish with corn pudding and asparagus. They do bring out a garlic focaccia type bread to accompany your meal as well. Everything tasted wonderfully and cooked perfect! We enjoyed our time here and would definitely go back! Last night was my anniversary and we arrived excited to try the food because we have never been before. I ordered My steak medium rare and when it arrived it was completely raw, dripping with blood, and cold. The waitress came back after about 15 minutes and took the steak back to the kitchen to retry cooking the same $40 steak. I was left to eat the veggies that were all soaked in blood. I did not eat the steak when it returned because it was so raw still. We were so disappointed by this experience and we will not be back. $70 for our meal and I didn't even get to eat. Came here with a colleague after work, the early dinner really is a good deal, since you get an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert, with complimentary bread as well. Also if you come early enough, you can get a good seat by the water and enjoy the view. The Service is reasonable, nothing too outstanding but I like that the waitress usually is around when we need her but let's us have our time to chat and enjoy our meals. There's a few other restaurants in downtown Olympia that would be good places for a nice dinner but I always find Hearthfire a lot more pleasant to dine at. This is also a good restaurant for couples and for families, will definitely be back again read more

Stopped here for a pre-Christmas Saturday night dinner. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the service was excellent... the staff really nailed it The bar was a little small and the glasses were all dirty ... but the service was quick and the drinks were delicious For dinner we had steak, prawns, and lingencod... all cooked to perfection. The server gave us plenty of time to finish our drinks from the bar before ordering, brining our several baskets of hot and buttered garlic bread. We had a nice view of the marina and the restaurant had a nice holiday vibe. We tried the Gorgonzola mushrooms for the appetizer. I had the cod served with mashed potatoes. The cod was baked with a layer of potato slices and sour cream.. sooo good. My favorite cocktail was the pomegranate martini, ice cold with a twist of lemon. Dessert... try the chocolate martini!
