Nice hot breakfast. Over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. (No hard crunchy brown edges, chef kiss.) Waitress was attentive and checked on us a couple times. The only thing I would recommend is a thorough cleaning. The table in the corner, to the left of the patio doors had a visibly dirty tablecloth and the wall needed a good scrubbing. There were food splatters on the wall and tablecloth. The floor (carpet), needed a good vacuuming as well. Staff was friendly, coffee was hot and fresh. The food was not acceptable. Ordered over medium eggs and pork chop. The over medium eggs were overcooked and pork chop was paper thin and very well done. Although they made an attempt to bring me a new one, it still wasn't a good pork chop..still very thin with no flavor.maybe already cooked and warmed up?. The corned beef hash was good. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant for quality food. Have been to the bar a few times and liked it. That said, I sent my kids to pickup a take out meal. When the paid without a tip the larger gal with funky hair said "thanks for stealing" to my teenagers. When my son told me I was pretty surprised but then again, the tip culture has gotten out of hand. Servers feel like it's an entitlement rather than my gratuity for their service with a smile. My gratuity is not yours by right, it is earned. Can't rate the service other than saying she put my order in a bag but in the future it may be worth it to drive a bit further to Burger King. I have been going to Taylor station for 27 years. The restaurant was sold to new partners about three or four years ago. In the beginning, the food was outstanding as they still employed the cook from the previous owners. I'm not sure what's going on now but the quality of the food has gone down hill and the prices have increased. One of my favorite things on the menu have been pork chops. 2 4oz smoked pork chops thick cut. Few weeks ago I ordered them and they were like thin breakfast chops and over cooked with a baker that was turning brown inside because it had obviously been in the warming drawer way too long! There was no way they were 8oz. as described. They were'nt even flavorful. I'm thinking the meat is sourced with a new vendor. So, I gave it a few weeks and decided to try again on Prime Rib night. Time was 6pm. Ordered the large cut med rare and it arrived med to well & was about 1/4" with absolutely no flavor. Again baker was turning and wasn't even hot. I'm beyond disappointed. We have only been here once so I will update if we go back. The decor is very outdated, which is fine. The outdoor seating area could be really nice but is dirty and where people smoke. The drinks were good. On the strong side and the bartender was quick with our orders of food and drinks. The food was a split. My husband had a steak special and raved about it. He said it was one of the better steaks he has had at a restaurant and wants to go back for that reason. My food was not great. I got the captains platter with clams, shrimp, fish, etc. The fish was inedible. It was complete mush like it was freezer burnt. The rest was fine but it is hard to mess up deep fried food. The best part about this place is hands down the staff! Everyone is so darned friendly you feel like you've been going there your whole life. The food is great, good portions and always popping hot. Some of the best Bloody Marys in the PNW too! I'm a huge fan of the Chicken Fried Steak but definitely wouldn't turn down one of their menu items. Taylor Station is located on Highway 101, just off the highway. The restaurant is next to a used car parking lot. Due to COVID, diners were spaced out and we got a room to ourselves. Our server was quick to bring us menus and waters. The menu is extensive; however, it was easy to decide because razor clams are on the menu. I LOVE razor clams and they're hard to find at restaurants in the Pacific Northwest. Ordered mashed potatoes with country gravy as my side and a cup of chowder for a little extra. The clams were perfectly fried and delicious! Was very happy with portion size as there was enough to take food home. Looking forward to next time! read more

This restaurant is like taking a step back in time. It is your classic old school diner. It's dated but that brought back great childhood memories. The interior is clean. The menu has a great selection. I have only been there for breakfast and was pleased. I spoke to the cook; nice guy. He told me they make the chicken fried steak from scratch. It has long been a solid diner with decent and tasty but sometimes inconsistent and generally unremarkable food, it filled the hungry. Now it's a destination diner based on the food and charming kitsch. I hate to even tell folks because it's the closest diner to our home and with the new levels of food and such, as word gets out... it could get hard to get a table. Interesting place with decent food! This restaurant was built in the 1960's and it shows - swag lamps, train memorabilia, red vinyl upholstered booths. We ordered a "Taylor Station Express" (French toast, an egg, some sausage), and Razor clams (breaded and fried) and clam chowder, which came with side of coleslaw. The French toast was made with nice, crispy French bread :-) The razor clams and clam chowder were really tasty. The coleslaw seemed to be from some bulk food supplier - pretty ordinary. Service was great! This is a surprisingly large place for how small it looks from the outside. Okay so I've lived in Shelton now for about 4 years and every time I go to and from Olympia I passed this place and gone I really want to eat there but then I don't I don't know why other things just come up finally the other day my girlfriend and I were driving by and I was like are you hungry she was like I could eat so I so I spun the car around the off ramp like I was in Tokyo drift slid into the parking spot and finally gave it a shot. Boy am I glad I did This is the kind of diner that I grew up on it doesn't have to have fancy s*** hanging off the walls I don't need a server singing at me or telling me what kind of hipster b******* they have on the menu. When you walk into a place like this they probably got a club sandwich or biscuits and gravy, sometimes a cheap a steak and they always got some kind of special of the week. This is the kind of place that when they say soup of the day they actually have a super the day is it Friday cuz it's probably clam chowder is it Monday cuz it's probably chicken noodle. So I've seen this recipe a million times and it's always a success it's the kind of diner I can take my daughter to and not worry that some hipsters are going to stroll in and ruin my breakfast. You probably got three truck drivers at the bar and a few old married couples coming in every single day since 1972. I absolutely love it. I only gave it four stars because it seemed a little pricey compared to the other similar options and I've only had one dish from there so I can't give it better until I've tried some other options on the menu. I had such high hopes! I've been wanted to try this place and I get serious cravings for Chicken Fried steak. I joke that I'm on the hunt for the best in WA. That said, this was pretty good. I do cook myself and would just season the meat more and maybe a tad less breading and it will be perfection. Now, the "sausage gravy" was sad. Unless there as a mistake, ours table of steaks had no sausage and we were given very little gravy and 1/2 cup mashed potato's. I took my steak home and made my own gravy and it was amazing. Title is GLUTEN FREE BREAD! Such a surprise. (It's 4th of July holiday review so It may not actually reflect the daily.) We stayed at the casino and were looking for real food before our 4th bbq. When we arrived we were seated right away, but the waitstaff was a crew of 1, a bartender and a cook. Poor things they were swamped. We ordered fairly quickly, our drinks came fast as well, but a bit of a wait for the food. Sadly, bloody Mary's were really bad. Like slightly off canned mix, bottom shelf vodka and a lime with salted rim. That's the minus 1 star. I think they might be better on a different day but I'd go with a mimosa next time. The food however was PHENOMENAL! I had a half Benny with hashbrowns on gluten free bread. I was gobsmacked to see GF on this menu and it made me so dang happy. My guy got fried oysters, home fries and eggs. The OYSTERS! This place is a stone's throw from Taylor Shellfish (which has very fancy $$$ restaurants in Seattle). It's so fresh! We absolutely loved our food. The decor is very original 70's railroad themed as a nod back to the olden days, lol. There's a big lounge to sit in as well, overall 4.5 stars, would be 5 without the bad bloody. Try it! read more

I've eaten here many times now and although I've never been amazed by the quality of food or service, I keep coming back so something must be good about it. The staff is friendly, if sometimes unprofessional. The place is clean, but also kinda beat up and dated. The menu and food is good, but there's really no standout hero of the menu that I'm ever going to come back specifically for. Taylor Station is a solid diner with decent food and decent prices making it a great place to catch breakfast or dinner at when you want something comfortable and low key. My favorite thing I've had there so far was probably the nachos, but I was also drunk in the bar when I had those so pretty much anything would have been my favorite dish ever. On that note: One feature I really like is the bar in the back. It's somewhat hidden but they have a huge spacious bar area with an electronic jukebox and a good ol' country dive bar vibe. Drinks were good and they have a surprising amount of back bar products and the bartender was very attentive to our pull tabs and drinks. So in conclusion: This place is decent and you likely won't be blown away by the quality, service, or atmosphere, but you'll leave with a full stomach... and more often then not that's all I'm looking for! read more

Let me start by saying that I love oysters especially from Taylor shellfish!!!! I order them online I first had there Kumamotos at little creek casinos restaurant...... then I started ordering them online. I have been to little creek for golf and seafood over 15 times and NEVER disappoints! Last week I went down there to golf on a Monday and my little creek spot is not open until 4pm (squaxin) so o convinced our group to go to a Taylor restaurant right down the street from where I pick up my most FAVORITE Taylor shell fish oysters and seafood.... And it's kind of a little dive dinner right across the way..... first they told us they do not have oysters on the half shell..... very disappointing. Then we ask well are your shooters Kumamotos and they said yes!!!! B.S!!!!!! The most unbelievable thing about this is less then 500' there literally is a Taylor store front where you can walk in and by MULTIPLE types of oysters.... And other seafood. The single oyster shooters at this diner was so disgusting I spit it back in the glass and left it on the table. The razor clam dinner was horrifying!!!!! No one at our table had a single item that was worth paying for!!! This place has to be the worst and most pathetic restaurant especially for how close it is to the sea and an awesome oyster place like Taylor shellfish.... This diner is a disgrace!!!!!! read more
