The service was OK. Our server was attentive and quick and pleasant but just no enthusiasm. She comped the food my husband ordered because she saw he barely touched it which was very nice of her so we tipped well. The food was just alright, but I was disappointed with what I got and was expecting more quality for the price. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Who and I was given a plate with a small handful of still-crunchy sliced bell peppers and zucchini that seemed that they had been in contact with heat for all of 30 seconds next to a pile of potatoes that were cold from sitting. The chicken breast was just meh, not very thick, not very moist, not very seasoned, not very much of it. Small amount of sliced prosciutto on top. I just think for $30 this was a ripoff by at least 1/3 of the price; I would expect an actual chicken cordon bleu at that price instead of this quick-service deconstruction. The blackberry mojito I ordered for I think $15 tasted pretty good but was missing the presence and flavor of any alcohol so there was no complexity, just ended up being a $15 refreshing fruit drink. My husband ordered an appetizer (Sirloin Diablo) for $27 and got a small bowl of steak tips submerged in a barely spicy (Diablo?) cajun cream sauce like a soup surrounded by some painfully plain, thin, unseasoned, boring grilled bread. It's not bad or very good by any means and just wasn't his thing, but charging almost $30 for that? At their prices and the way they are presented I was expecting a really satisfying dinner but walked away feeling like I would've been just as happy eating some standard fare at a local diner for half the cost. read more

Stopped by on a whim after a day spent hiking and boy were we pleasantly surprised. We'd never been before so weren't sure what to expect but reviews looked good so we gave it a shot. I got the fig burger and my better half went with the curry fish & chips. Both of us cleaned our plates and commented several times how good it was and how we have to come back and try more. Just across the Capital Lake and past the Olympia Mall and down an alley AI helped us find this little gem. While it is NOT fancy inside, their menu is. Granted we never even looked in the restaurant, we went in the bar entrance and that is where we stayed. Service was exceptional! I had the Briar Lemondrop, which disappeared quickly. Also a quick lesson on what Cassis is. I will be picking up a bottle soon. Our food was outstanding (delicious). My husband, as expected had the Rancher Burger and I had the Fig Salad and Toasted Artichoke Alfredo Penne. YUM! But, as my friend Manu from MKR Australia would say, "Where's the sauce?" I met a friend for dinner on a Friday. It wasn't too busy, we were able to get a booth right away. The inside is clean and cute. We ordered two appetizers: shrimp Diablo fries and the fiery wings. Both were fantastic. We ordered two entrees and two desserts as well. My entree was very good, and I loved my dessert, the chocolate pot de creme. A Place We've Loved--Hoping to See It Shine Again We've been fans of The Iron Rabbit for quite a while now. Our first visit was actually by accident, but we quickly realized we'd stumbled on a hidden gem. The food was consistently impressive--bold, creative, and full of flavor. Even when the service wasn't always stellar, the meals more than made up for it. We lived nearby at the time and ended up coming back almost every week, often bringing friends or family with us. It really became one of our go-to spots. What kept us coming back was the quality and uniqueness of the food. You could tell someone in the kitchen was having fun with the menu. It felt local, intentional, and memorable. Since we moved about an hour away, we don't get to visit as often--but when we do make the trip back, we're hoping for the same great experience we used to enjoy. Unfortunately, the last couple of visits have fallen short. Some of our favorite dishes just don't taste the same, and the overall flavor and creativity feel dialed down. The menu seems to have shifted, and it's missing that spark that used to make it stand out from the crowd. Service has always been a bit hit-or-miss here, but lately it's felt more off than usual. It's gone from slightly inattentive to making us feel like we were an inconvenience. That's tough to say because we've always rooted for this place, supported it enthusiastically, tipped generously, and recommended it to others. We were also disappointed to hear that the rewards program was discontinued. It was a small thing, but it made us feel appreciated as repeat customers--and added to the charm. All that said, we're not writing The Iron Rabbit off completely. We're just hoping to see it return to the level of excellence that made us love it in the first place. We know restaurants go through changes and growing pains, but we believe in this one and really hope to see it bounce back. This unassuming restaurant has a menu with big flavor, and was such a good find I've been a couple times now (I am visiting from out of state). Especially good after a long day of driving and hiking in the rainforest. Inside is softly lit, earth and neutral toned, low music, relaxing and staffed by down to earth, friendly people; reflective of the city of Olympia in my few times visiting here. Both times I've ordered the Black & Bleu Burger (blackened spice rubbed royal ranch beef, gorgonzola, spring greens, tomato, bleu cheese spread, onion strings, brioche bun). This comes with fries, which are salted, lightly fried, fluffy potato wedges and a perfect side to a quality burger. The beef is juicy, tender, savory and light while the bleu cheese adds it's own smooth, tart salt to compliment. The brioche is lightly grilled/toasted, buttery and tops it off. Sister ordered the Artichoke Heart Alfredo, and finished the whole plate so, that's her review right there! Iron Rabbit is another found hidden gem, and worth you finding too. read more

I picked up my order: the restaurant is dark and shabby looking--likely not very clean. I have been eyeballing this restaurant on Yelp for awhile, and finally made the drive for our weekend dinner night out. We got there on a Saturday at 5:30. We saw 2 other couples already seated, and we were promptly addressed and seated in our booth. Super clean booth from walls to table to floor, I was impressed! Even the bathrooms were very clean. I ordered the Rabbit Reviver, a gin cocktail which was pretty bitter but delicious. Our server Kristi was wonderful and knowledgeable and we both ordered the Chicken Cordon Who, his with a starter salad. It was a beautiful delicious plate of food. It's a seasonal vegetable that comes accompanied with the chicken, ours was a zucchini and red bell pepper, neither of which I care for to begin with but I had more than enough of the chicken and potatoes to fill me up. It's an intimate setting and several other couples came in after us and we had a great vibe going. Then there was the couple that came in with three screaming children who did not care less that they were screaming. It made us eat faster than we would have liked to be free of the noise. It was by no harm of the restaurant or staff, they do not have control of this type of thing and can't do much about it. However the manager came to us apologizing for the inconvenience and gave us a discount on our next meal. Wow. What an awesome gesture. We will be back again, and not just because of their kindness. I really enjoyed the food here. The fig salad had a bit too much vinaigrette however if it was balanced it would be PERFECT! I really enjoyed the rice and curry bowl, highly recommend a protein added. Our bill was over $70 without alcohol or any drinks which seemed a bit high. Clever wording on the menu descriptions. Really cute rabbit decor and modernish looking interior while utilizing what was potentially here before (if i were to guess). Toby took our order and gave an alternate pitch to specials and go to dishes. We appreciated his style and humor. Hubby ordered the chicken cordon who and it was moist, flavorful, and tasty. It was so good I asked to swap mid meal. I ordered flat iron steak chimichurri with mashed potatoes and veggies. Also split the salad de saison which was a strong vinaigrette with a good amount of apple and candied walnuts. We would order everything again. It's a cute super clean diner. I have never been to the city before so I came to meet with my friend who I haven't seen in two years. We kinda met half way. I got the burger lamb with gluten free bun. Oh wow the burger was so so so good, the service was super good as well. Like they went a pice and beyond when someone blocked my car without even me noticing. The manager went out and asked them to move their car so I can be able to move my car. The restaurant is quite and it seems very famous by the locals. It's beautiful place to just have a bite at and being able to hear your friend talking without the need to be loud to compete with others lol. Stopped by Iron Rabbit for dinner with colleagues and this please was kinda busy during dinner time on a weekday. We were seated and ordered their fire fries & artichoke pesto dip & sirloin diablo for starters. All the starters were good but the sirloin diablo was a tad too rich and creamy for my taste buds. For the mains, most of us ordered the lamb curry burger and that was amazing! Flavorful in every bite and the fried onions added to this burger just elevated the flavors to the next level. Devoured every bite of this burger.. A few others ordered fish & chips which was good and the artichoke pasta which was also good. For drinks, we tried the red rose (i loved this prosecco based drink) and their manhattan was good too, the reason I reduced a star was cos of slow poor service. We literally ordered food and waited for atleast 30 mins before food showed up and I am talking about our appetizers as well. The restaurant was way past dinner time so just another table was occupied when we placed our orders. Terribly slow service. All in all good food, service was good but slow which can certainly be improved. I will be back to have their lamb burger for sure. read more

Hardly any guests, I fact maybe 3 other tables and multiple other servers in the restaurant and the server came to ask if we were ready within a minute of arriving. Continued to come back every 1-2 minutes to ask if we were ready to order, never really giving us a chance to read through the menu and we all kind of just selected something so she would leave us alone to enjoy our family time rather than be harassed by a server who only had one other table. After our meal arrived my son asked for salt and pepper and we were glared at as if we were insulting her. Same when he declined a to go box. It was also very greasy, there was a pool of grease at the bottom and it made me sick to my stomach half way through. The burger was good.
