I have to be honest, I've been here several times in the past for baseball party nights with some of my older grandchildren, but I truly can't remember the last time I was here. We were out driving around, the kids were hungry, and we were close by, so we stopped in. My middle grandson could eat pizza every day. We started with fried pickles, and the breading on them was delicious. We also got garlic bread, and it was dripping with so much butter and garlic. I could have eaten that for lunch by itself--just wow. I got a Greek salad and baked ziti, and oh my gosh, it was so delicious. The kids got a cheese pizza, and my granddaughter, who isn't usually that wild about pizza, couldn't stop eating it. They finished the entire pie. I don't know why I haven't been here more often, but I will definitely be going back and recommending them to everyone. read more

Ordered the Vegetable Primavera with a half loaf of bread as an additional side. The primavera came with a piece of garlic bread as well. Thank goodness I ordered additional bread, as the bread was the best part of my meal. The pasta was bland and the sauce had an odd taste. I did appreciate the amount of vegetables in the pasta and the serving size of the dish itself. However, this dish was a complete miss. I really wanted a Tuna Sub today and my colleagues all told me I had to try Anthony's and of course I did. Upon walking in I was greeted by a young lady who had a bright smile and asked if I was dining in or placing a to-go order. I advised her I was getting it to-go and she met me around the counter. From the beginning I was happy as I had seen a review about the service and was ecstatic to see that there had been an enhancement. I ordered a 7" Tuna Sub and an order of Fries. It took a little longer than usual for a cold sub and order of fries, but as it was the lunch time of the day, I figured it was due to order volume. Let's talk the food! The fries were absolutely AMAZING. To my surprise they were crinkle cut which are my favorite. They were perfectly fried with the crispy outside and soft middle. They weren't greasy and they were very fresh. The tuna sub was a nice size and had a good meat to bread ratio. The tuna itself was very bland. It seemed to have no flavor additives at all. The tomatoes on the sub were very fresh and juicy, and the lettuce was crisp. Overall, for $7 it was a perfect fit for the price. The next time I go I will stay away from the tuna and try the pizza as I hear it is very good. I def recommend the fries if you love a good fry as I do. Oh, I almost forgot, the ketchup packets they provide with the fries really are a hit. The ketchup has a sweetness to it that Pairs perfectly with the fry. Geesh! Love this place and it's one of my go tos for dinner when I don't feel like cooking. Love their pizza, spaghetti the most and their salads are so good and large portions are enough to split with a family of 4. My favorites are the Greek salad and the Italian. I ordered the pasta combo no meat add onions and mushrooms. Every time I order here I get zero service. Random by standards have to tell the front cashier/host that someone is there. Even if a server is standing off to the side, they will not say a word to me or even look up. The first order didn't have onions or mushrooms and this picture is of the second order. A manager named Holly made this and a manager named Tammy severed it out. I had to ask for napkins because it literally looked like soup before I left. This is an Italian restaurant when I picked up my order I thought I ordered a pizza. Why are the vegetables of pasta on the top of the pasta. What makes it worse is when I called back in I told Holly pasta_veggie_sauce-cheese. She deliberately put a sprinkle of vegetables at the top. We ordered from here via Uber Eats recently. It was decent. I got the spaghetti with meatballs and a Greek salad. Hubby got Alfredo and the buffalo chicken pizza. My spaghetti was OK. The sauce is a little thick and it could come with a few more meatballs. I had to add some spice to the sauce. The Greek salad was really good I wish I had gotten a large. Ordered from Anthony's for the first time today. Got takeout. I placed the order over the phone after an initial sigh that I was going to have to talk to a live person--there's no in-house online ordering. But the phone call was a pleasant surprise: the woman who answered was competent, took the order, read it back to me correctly, and gave me the total. That was a good sign! We picked up the food a bit after the time estimate said it would be ready, and my mother had no trouble going in, paying, and getting the food. The order was exactly correct--just what had been read back to us. We picked up around 1:45 p.m., and there were few customers. Mom said that the staff was fast and competent but seemed grim. I wondered if that was pandemic-related, given that there were few customers. This was an order for four people: two calzones, a baked ziti, and a sandwich, along with an order of jalapeno poppers and a slice of Oreo cheesecake. The jalapeno cream cheese poppers were *excellent*. I stole more than half of them although it was my husband who ordered them. (There are five in an order--I could wish for six for an even split in a group of two or three). I asked for extra cheese on the Greek calzone, and there's almost (almost!) too much cheese! The calzones were cooked perfectly, not burnt as I've had them at some Italian places. The breading has a lovely sheen on the top. The calzone was a little greasy, as you can see in the picture, but in a good way--I think the grease came primarily from the extra cheese. The baked ziti's mozz topping was great, perfectly toasted. The flavors are solid and not overwhelming. My husband said that it was balanced and flavorful: "A dish that is usually forgettable at other places was nice here." The garlic bread that came with the ziti was fine, heavily buttered and seriously garlicked (with powder, I believe, but still good). The sandwich was good. Most importantly, we requested there be *no* onions in the steak and cheese sandwich as well as the Greek calzone, and that request was fulfilled. It's a relief when a place gets the special order right (several people in my family are onion-intolerant, meaning we can't eat onions without getting pretty darn ill, so we look for that). The Oreo cheesecake is very good. VERY good. It's got that tang I associate with good cheesecake. I don't know if they make it in-house, but it doesn't have a taste or texture as if it's been dethawed. The whole bill--four entrees, an appetizer, and a dessert--was about $50. Quite reasonable! Note: this is an old review from before the 2020 pandemic. It was sitting in draft state. Today Yelp's system reminded me that I never posted it. I RE-read the post and was clearly reminded of my experience. Maybe things have changed since then, I haven't been back to confirm... This is the second time I've been disappointed by the penny pinching policies that only limit the taste of the food and the service experience of Anthony's Pizza & Pasta. During my first visit, I ordered ground beef on my pizza, but when it came out, I could hardly tell there was any ground beef on it. They were more like shreds of microscopic beef pieces: ground beef like I've never seen before. I asked if they could add more, but it was like pulling teeth to get the cook/mgmt to agree. Finally they begrudgingly agreed to a "one-time" addition of more meat. This most recent visit, I was craving pizza. Although the last visit wasn't great, I remembered the pizza being tasty. But...I was sorely disappointed starting with the flat fountain drinks. Then, when the Greek salad came out, the lettuce tasted like cheap store-bought salad mix, the feta cheese tasted cheap and and olives tasted well not-so-fresh. When the pizza arrived, I was disappointed by the thin pizza sauce that tasted like a very thin layer of plain tomato sauce that was sitting too close to the dish water. The crust of the pizza didn't seem fully browned. I like my crust underneath and at the top to be slightly crunchy. This crust was more limp, almost soggy. Since my husband and I were dining together we asked for the large to be divided half & half. It was a 3-topping pizza so we chose 3 toppings for each half. After our waitress put in our order, she came back and said she would have to charge us for 3 additional toppings on the 2nd side of the pizza. Huh? What? You're using 1/2 the ingredients for each half. The math principle here is equivalence. Our waitress was good, though. She worked out the 1/2 and 1/2 issue. If not, we were gearing up to go try a different pizza place. She also attempted to work out the flat soda issue, but after the attempted fix, the soda still tasted flat. Maybe after they add more carbonation, it takes awhile for it to take effect. I'm not sure if we will back. Sometimes restaurants have off days when they are not at their best. But this establishment's penny pinching is compromising the quality of the food and the experience. read more

It has been many years since my family has come here for dinner. I learned that the ownership has changed since. Despite being in McDonough for years, this experience was quite a let-down. Here are a few notes for the restaurant to consider. When asking your guests to pay more than $10.00 per head, I think there should be an expectation for the following: Warm, friendly service, all entrees' arriving at the table cooked completely and hot, and at the same time. I also think a side salad should be included for the pasta entrees. Our experience tonight was mediocre at best. The tepid greeting was "Sit wherever you want" . I certainly would have understood if the place was jumpin'. However, it wasn't. The order was for 2 Calzones without ricotta and extra mozzarella, and 2 Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken,1 in the restaurant and 1 to go. the Fettuccine was served first, followed behind quite a few minuted later with the calzones. My fettuccine was not as hot as I would have hoped and by the time the other remaining dinners arrived, it was also becoming very dry. The one that came home was a bit on the dry side as well, despite the foil container. My nephew also noted that the mozzarella had not melted all the way through on his calzone. When I serve Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken at home, I, at least, sear the chicken breast to give it some color to offer something visually attractive against the white noodle with the white Alfredo sauce. Fresh parsley will certainly look better than the dehydated variety to boot. A half of a sub or hoagy roll with what I suspect is not really garlic butter, but a melted garlicky spread doth not make garlic bread. Should we decide to ever visit again, I hope for a better experience. read more

So, my fam and I were coming through McDonough and I saw this place when we passed and made a note to try it on the way back since it should be quick to get a slice and go home. So, after waiting for an abundance of time for a slice. I got this tiny box and it wasn't even what I ordered. I asked for a sausage slice but got two small cheese slices. Then, I told the go and she asked me if I was sure of what I ordered. Smh. It shouldn't have taken forever -10 minutes- for a sausage slice. Oh I mean CHEESE slice. I thought I'd found a new pizza spot by my house but I'll never return here again. I'll stick to Olympian by my house. My family has loved Anthony's, however that changed when we order almost $50 of food. Our food came more then an hour late and was cold. There's nothing worst than having your mouth set for some hot Pizza and when it comes it's cold. My husband called an reported it, we received a credit. The pictures are what was received from the credit (replacement order). Our pizza clearly looks like it was knocked/tossed around and then our fried mushrooms was soft and soggy (disgusting), the wings had slid around the bag out the container. My thing is why would you rectify the previous situation with worst service. I was so pissed at the appearance of the food and the service we received, I couldn't even call. Honestly I don't have it in me to keep complaining about the service of the food and nothing happens it just gets worst. I'll take my money else where. read more

First time eating at Anthony's. It was a typical pizza store. The restaurant was fairly empty while I was there, but looked like it could seat 150 people. I had lasagna, and my daughter had ziti. We also tried a small pepperoni pizza. The food came out pretty fast, and hot! I liked it for the most part, but the tomato sauce was different than what I am used too. When I came in I of course being a first time patron of the establishment didn't know where to go if I was to be seated do I just take a seat and there really wasn't anyone looking to assist me otherwise. I did come in to the place and although not crowded it has seating that does not allow much room for movement Very old decor looking and a large water bug that's what I call them on the floor crawling by a table where people were eating and I pointed out the bug and they seem to just ignore which lets me know that they are used to such I am not, Especially anywhere that I am eating which lets me know they have a cleanliness issue. I was on lunch and my lunch break was an hour and it was well into 35 minutes before my food order taken. It is not a place that I would revisit as I don't know what I may find in my food or sitting as I am eating I did tip. read more

The chicken parm is excellent here. They are a little inconsistent in that sometimes they bring the pasta in its own bowl and sometimes not. I always request it in a separate bowl and ask for it to have mozzarella baked on top. There's a small upcharge for this. It's really really good. Their buttered garlic bread is really good too. So good that I am amused at some of the Italian places we go that work so hard to make fancy bread that isn't even close to as good as Anthony's very simple but scrumptious buttered garlic bread. read more

Amazingly Delicious! Our family ordered Chicken Alfredo, Baked Ziti, Spaghetti with meat sauce and half loaf bread. It was gone in seconds! Which doesn't happen at our house...Our kids loved it as well as my hubby, my mom and I. We will definitely eat there again! I work near Anthony's so I visit frequently. Everyone is really nice and the waitresses put up with me and my brothers 4 drink refill average, never leaving us thirsty. The Lunch Menu during the week is a great value with nothing going over 5 dollars and includes a drink, with fries or salad. They have multitude of pizza toppings, sub types, and wing flavors so you can always mix it up. They even let you be a little creative, my brother (Daniel) has a eggplant parmesan sub named after him there. To me the best tasting thing in the world is their Calzone. Golden brown crust oiled up nicely with lots of cheese... not skimpy on size either, roughly the size of a half way deflated pro football. It just doesn't get any better than that, it has no rivals and friends agree that it's better than the one Mellow Mushroom makes and I personally think it is 10x better than the calzone Johnny's Pizza makes. Really great all around place. If you're in the area stop on by... just don't take my booth, I'm second on the right side... go to the left side, it has a pool table. :P read more

I worked here for years and can confirm that it is family owned and operated, the pizza dough is made fresh daily and the quality of the food for the price is really great. If I were scoring it on food alone, it would get five stars, hands down, but the last couple of times I've been to eat at Anthony's, some of the servers have screwed up our orders or been quite slow. Just had the worst experience with this joke of a restaurant . I ordered my food an hour in advance so that I can eat during my lunch break . They where late delivering the food . And to make it worse they delivered to the wrong address. I then proceeded to call to cancel my order I was put on hold but the operator did not put the phone on hold properly and was just having a conversation about nothing pertaining to work.
