Crispy on the outside with that perfect golden finish, but still soft with just the right bounce on the inside. Flavor was on point--nothing bland, nothing overdone. You can tell whoever was on the oven knew exactly what they were doing. Hats off to the cook for that one. The cheese pizza kept it clean and classic--melty, well-balanced, and let that crust shine. The pepperoni had a nice crisp on the edges with a little grease pop, exactly how you want it. Now, everything else? Solid. I have been a loyal customer of Johnny's Pizza for the past two years, ordering two pizzas every Tuesday night. Unfortunately, after the way this situation was handled, I will not be returning. I placed and paid for an order online. When my husband picked up the pizzas, he was charged again at the store for the same order. I understand that mistakes happen, but what matters is how a business responds when a mistake is brought to their attention. The next day, I went in person to address the issue and was told the manager was not there. I then called for the next two days and was told I would receive a call back, which never happened. After receiving no response, I returned in person with my bank statements showing the duplicate charges. Instead of taking responsibility or even attempting to resolve the issue, I was told it did not happen and was refused a refund. That is unacceptable. A loyal customer should not have to chase a business for days, provide proof, and still be dismissed. This was not about the amount of money. This was about integrity, accountability, and basic customer service. The previous ownership would have made this right without hesitation. Sadly, that is clearly not the standard anymore. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful forms of advertisement, and I will make sure people know about my experience. I strongly caution anyone considering ordering from this location. However, we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food we received. The pizza's appearance and taste were shocking. Even my 17-year-old son--who practically lives on pizza--couldn't eat more than half a slice. The flavor was unusually off, almost as if the dough or ingredients were expired. Since it was just a cheese pizza, there shouldn't have been much room for anything to go that wrong. We hadn't ordered from this restaurant in about a year and decided to give it another chance, but unfortunately we deeply regret it. This review comes from a born and raised Brooklyn New Yorker who has been eating NYC pizza all of my life. While the toppings were fresh and tasty during my first visit to this location yesterday, it is far from a NYC style pizza! An authentic NYC pizza is big, has big slices, the pie can barely fit inside the box and the dough is made with 00 Italian flour....not all purpose flour. This chain is using the NYC name to sell pizza that is not a real NYC pizza. Ordered a small 16 inch pie, paid $31 for the pie and then could barely find any ground beef on the pie. Not to mention that I waited an almost 30 extra minutes because they confused my curbside pick up order. Message to manager/owner: Don't cheat your customers, when a customer pays over $30 for your pizza give them the toppings that they are paying for. Please hire some adults to work there, too many children working there, messing up orders and playing. Great customer service! Food came out quick. As soon as I walked into the restaurant it smelled like a NYC Pizzeria where I grew up! The layout of the restaurant and the ambiance. They even had baseball games and movies playing in the background. My favorite movie Sandlot happened to be playing. It brought back childhood memories. The food smells and look great. First off I would like to say the servers at this establishment are not the issue, as it seems to be the owners of the restaurant with the bad attitude. While eating I overheard the male owner yelling at one of the servers in a very nasty tone as well as saying some quite unpleasant language, some that should never be said at a place of business or at an employee. The female owner isnt any better as I overheard her talking very badly on one of the girls serving at the restaurant which is very embarrassing for the girl serving and very poor management coming from the owner. Great pizza - we went every Friday for years - then moved to graffiti pizza - but graffiti's has terrible customer service so we are back at Johnnys. Worst pizza ever! I did something I said I would never do, ordering from a place 30 minutes to closing. The insulting part I called requesting a do over and the inexperienced young manager stated I do not qualify for a refund because it was not burned and it was baked not to long ago. 3rd Attempt We aim too always support local/small businesses first. Upon entry most tables were dirty. Waitresses were standing around. Greek salad: Oil & ginger type dressing not Greek. 1/2 cup of green olives 1/2 cup of black olives NO exaggeration. No flavor in any of the "veggies". Large Veggie pizza We ordered with NO olives and then the salad was brought out loaded with them. A good attentive waitress would've noted that. This pizza is Mediocre at best. I like patronizing local businesses. We live in Mcdonough and although we don't live near this particular establishment we decided to stop in for dinner while returning from errands nearby. We ordered one pizza and 2 individual slices. Almost 45 minutes later the pizza shows up. The 2 slices arrived 10 minutes later. The place was not full of customers and it appeared that they had plenty of employees working. I really dont know what was going on. My slices were over cooked and smaller than expected. The large pizza was good although it did not appear to have extra cheese that I paid for. Our waitress was good and she apologized for the delay. I can't say that I would return to this place. I love their Stromboli..the more toppings the better and they always give an entire bowl of marinara sauce to dip it in. Very disappointing place. Food was mediocre and found the facilities to be not kept up....It's really gone down hill since they opened, but they are close by. My last visit will be my last though. Had a coupon that this location has honored before from Restaurant.com and I had another one. I present the coupon to the server and she takes my order. We eat and everything was OK...kind of light on the toppings....place is not very consistent really.. I go to checkout and I am told they no longer accept this coupon...The coupons says it doesn't expire and I even ordered extra food to meet the requirements of the coupon as directed by the server....despite that I am told they no longer take the coupon. The owner was not at the location and the management was nothing more than a bunch of kids. I don't want to cause a scene....wish I had now....and I left my name and number and asked to be contacted....Nothing. Unremarkable. Food - Nothing to write home about. Definitely not the worst pizza I've ever had. Good toppings and nice crust. We also had the garlic and cheese pretzels as an appetizer. Not terrible for something frozen then heated up, but in no way fresh and served without marinara. Atmosphere - Terribly decorated. I did enjoy the handwritten signs trashing Charter cable that we're hanging from their tvs. The area outside the bathrooms serves as some kind of storage area where file cabinets and caulk guns are just hanging out for your kids to play with. Service - Pleasant and forgettable. The servers wore whatever they pleased, including short shorts and too small t-shirts. Our server did have the kitchen cut up the slices we ordered for our kiddos. Being new to McDonough I was accustomed to having Johnnys every other weekend with my daughter when we lived in Peachtree City so I was so excited to find out there was one 10 minutes from my new house! We tried it three times each time Pizza was just OK but the service was really really really bad. Nobody and I mean no one who worked there seemed to give a whoot about good customer service. My first time there I mentioned how excited i was to have found another Johnny's and the lady looked at me like I was weird and wasting her precious time. I asked about things on the other Johnny's menu (like wings) and was told very bluntly that this Johnny's was not like the others. Okay then.... We chose this pizza place based on the fact they offer Gluten Free Pizza Crust, and it did not disappoint! It's a cauliflower based crust, but don't let that fool ya...it's full of flavor! It's more of a thinner crust that is crispy on the edges. Others in our group order a regular crust (they don't have have Celiac) and they said it was really good as well! We also really liked their sauce, it had a great flavor! The staff was very attentive and hard working, constantly checking on guests, serving, and cleaning! My pizza, stromboli, old fashion calzones, lasagna, and salads have been pretty consistently good from this location. I learned from the owner that they are the only franchise who still makes their own meatballs, and you can taste that. I've been here many more times than i care to repeat and often times, as others have addressed there are unruly children, but i don't believe that's the job of the staff or management to deal with. All that being said, the only reason they're not getting 5 stars from me is the variance in service. One of my regular waitresses gave superior service ALL the time (Nancy), but i haven't seen in her in quite some time and often times the only person i recognize is the bearded guy making my food. Our visit last night to this location will likely be our last. We've had good experiences in years past but recently the wait staff has turned over multiple times and the service has declined beyond recognition. As an owner I would focus heavily on proper training and choosing the right personality for serving. The kitchen has struggled to get food out in a timely manor with even average quality (over cooked pizza). Salads have been forgotten or brought out with or after the entree. Most importantly the time between ordering and receiving the food has pushed beyond acceptable for "busy" with over an hour to get a slice of pepperoni and a calzone. Suggestion would be to separate the To-go orders or make the sit down experience priority to maintain the experience and increase the tipping percentage. Wait staff having a cook as the manager also decreases the tipping as the waitresses tell you it's not their problem and to take it up with the manager who is busy making orders. An owner needs to be onsite or at least a true manager who can focus on customer experience. read more
