After attending an Arts and Crafts show, we noted a restaurant nearby. Since it was close to our hotel, we decided to try it. Antica Forma, from the entrance appeared to be a run-of-the- mill average eatery. Were we ever pleasantly surprised! After being seated, our waitress came over immediately to take our drink and dinner order. She was very friendly, and even though business was brisk, she remained attentive to our needs. She was outstanding!!! She was affable, very knowledegeable, not pushy or over bearing. She brought our salads already split into two plates. She brought extra plates for the lasagna, which was the best we'd ever eaten. The portions were more than adequate to share. The owner overheard my compliment to the waitress and came over so I spent a few moments chatting with him. What a treat it was to be able to provide feedback to the owner. Food was ok. My kids liked the pizza. I am not sure what kind of mozzarella they use, but it wasn't your typical Italian mozzarella you are used to that is soft and moist and browns nicely when cooked in the oven. This one was tough and dry so it made my lasagna chewy. The caprese salad was not good at all. Maybe just stick to pizza. read more

Simply put, this pizza is heavenly. I have to eat gluten free and it's so far and away the best I've ever had. I travel a lot and I've had pizza in so many holes in the wall and high end restaurants, but never anything this good. I'm on tour right now and spent one full day in Vernal. After discovering it at lunchtime and being blown away, my son and I came back for dinner. Pizza for both of us both times. Pizza needed another minute in the wood brick oven to be properly cooked, tasted kinda watery (guessing this is low quality olive oil)... salad had some tasty bits but needed way more tasty bits v lettuce (ratio was off). Our road trip was rerouted due to the I80 being closed which took us to a city called Vernal, Utah. We stopped at this restaurant, and I'd have to say it was the best pizza we've had in our lives, and we've had a lot of pizza. Not only the pizza was good, but the complimentary cheesy garlic bread was awesome as well as the salad we ordered. I spoke to a local there, she said all their food is the best. Some unique food. The Pistachio pizza was pretty good. Our experience wasn't the best though. They sat us in front of the front entrance where it was cold and crowded. The service was slow in ordering and then very slow again to get our food. We waited for about 40 minutes for our food and the price was in the expensive side for what we ordered. Driving through Utah, stopped by Vernal for the night. Found this place on Yelp, it looked like the best option and it didn't disappoint! I got a Spritz salad and a Capanna pizza. The Spritz salad was arugula, roasted beets, black olives, parmesan cheese. Very fresh with a nice homemade dressing. The pizza was perfect; thin crust, great tasting sauce, the right amount of mozzarella cheese and toppings (kalamata olives and grape tomatoes). The menu has a good variety and some unique items. The food was ready lighting fast, and I really appreciate show kind the guy on the phone was. My and my spouse's pizza was tasty, as was my kids' cheese pizza. However, the garlic sticks and bruschetta were like none I have ever had. The garlic sticks were thick loaves of buttered, cheesed, and baked bread. What a great place! Odd from the outside, looks like an old motel, but the inside is very nice. Tastefully decorated. There are televisions on the walls sparingly so it does not look like a sports bar. Service is quick and staff is very friendly. Okay maybe in a major city this would be a four star pizza (and other Italian) place, but given their location and their quality I am bumping it up by a star. This is excellent brick oven baked Neapolitan style pizza that you can write about and relish and remember fondly and look forward to. They keep it pretty strictly traditional but have a wide variety including sauceless and white sauce options as well as a cheeseless choice and various options for people who have other dietary restrictions. I got the fungi pizza and the only thing it lacked was a variety of fungi. They are keeping it simple with a single kind of mushroom. If you get a salad get the dressing "on the side" so you can control the amount on it.....they tend toward the overly generous end, which is probably what lots of folks are looking for, but not all of us. read more

We were in Vernal for a rafting trip and to visit Flaming Gorge. We heard about this restaurant and decided to go when we saw that they make gluten free pizzas, which we needed for our daughter. The pizzas are made fresh to order, Italian style, and we devoured them! Good service and it was nice to have a place in Vernal with a wine/beer license. Now that the negative is out of the way, let's talk about the positive: the crust is crisp without being over done retaining a bit of satisfying tooth. The caramelized onions are the best I've ever had, hands down. The sauce is perfect, available and tasty but not overbearing. The mozzarella cheese is handmade and bakes out perfect. The prosciutto is great. The overall effect is divine. Before this place, Grimaldi's in Brooklyn was my favorite. The service was efficient, personable and endearing (Cami, short for Camilla). That is hard to do! I did have some guy come by (Brock) and ask how was everything. I gave the benefit of my thoughts. It turns out he was the owner and the chef. Highly recommended! We were here for one night and this place was in the parking lot of our hotel. The line was long on a Saturday night, partly because the host was also running takeout orders and bussing tables, so he was doing it all. One of the waitresses told us the wait was worth it, and it totally was. The mista salad was excellent, so were the mozzarella sticks. The pizza was excellent, especially the Il Trufino, so delicious. Only thing that was sub par was the calimari, although I guess you can't expect much from fresh seafood in Vernal Utah.
