Restaurant was too hot, building entrance smells disgusting, ambiance so so. Waitress was good for the most part, but hard to find if you needed something. Food was okay, but not great. Beans were way to salty. The rest of the family was not impressed either. Sad way to end a trip, we ate at so many better places in Vernal before this stop. read more

Waitress, Christi, was rude. Food was bland, and flavorless, and the margaritas were so full of salt I couldn't even drink it. Owner refused to even give a discount for the nasty food that wasn't even eaten. Don't go unless you want to waist your money. If you want Mexican food made by white mormons who don't salt the food, and over salt the drinks this is your place. They've already gone out of business once, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again. read more

Too pricy for bland, queasy meals. Their salsa lacked any spice or flavor at all, instead tasting like cold goop. The tamales were drier than the Sahara desert and left a nasty aftertaste in the mouth. Their fajitas were barely seasoned, if they were seasoned at all, and greasy enough to soak through three individual napkins. The flour tortillas that came with the fajitas were dry and cracking, I suspect that they were bought packaged and heated up. Although they were of a nice size, the tortillas did end up burning my fingers. The beans and cheese were lumpy and needed to be stirred with a spoon. The service was nice and the servers were attentive, but the restaurant felt less like a home style family restaurant (as advertised) and more like a corporate franchise (such as Cafe Rio). I don't fault the servers nor cooks for this experience at all, but they did have to come and ask us several questions about how to prepare our food. I'm unsure if the new owners just never gave the cooks proper training, but they barely knew what to put on a sopapilla. I'm severely disappointed with what has become of this restaurant in the past few years, I miss the old La Cabana's and their homemade taste. read more

WOW, what the Wide Wide World of Sports is up with La Cabana? Tonight was the first time I've ever been there and that place has a bad vibe. It feels like you've walked into a movie where the real restaurant staff are tied up in the back and the people who are serving you are really terrorists who are trying not to blow their cover before you leave. It's like the place is run by the Manson family. And the decor felt like being a friend's abuela's house where she was ignoring her visitors and watching mariachi covers of Sinatra hits on Telemundo. THEN... there's the stalker-esque shrine to a fifteen year old British gospel singer. Why the hell is that in a Mexican restaurant? Fuuuuuuu... On top of the nightmarish ambiance and subpar service, the food was mediocre at best and they were out of half of the things we wanted to order. It had me wishing that their local competition wasn't closed on Mondays. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

This place has a bad rap on here. We had a great dinner. The Mexican pizza with shredded beef was such a treat!!! Cooked just right and plenty of sour cream on the side. Service was very nice and the place was clean. My sister got the special burrito and loved it as well. read more

Sit-down places are few and far between in Vernal, but despite a few sketchy reviews on Google Reviews, we decided to eat here. I wouldn't go back - but if you're dying for some sit-down mexican food, read on for what to do and what to not do. Chips and Salsa showed up with our server - which were surprisingly great. The chips were warm and crispy, and the salsa was spicy and flavorful. That being said, we had semi-high hopes for the meal, keeping the other reviews in mind. I ordered the Super Mexican Pizza, which wasn't bad. It came with plenty of well seasoned chicken, two crispy, fresh tasting tortillas with plenty of cheese and an adequate amount of beans. It came with sour cream and "guacamole" which looked like what is commonly called avocado dip, but it was still good. My partner in crime ordered a super burrito, vegetarian style. It was not good, period. In a dish where you ask for no meat (but are still paying for it) you'd expect extra cheese and beans to make up the difference. Not so. There were no beans to be had, and cheese was lacking in quantity. The previously mentioned good salsa was the saving grace of that burrito. So - Super Pizza, good. Veggie Burrito, not good at all. Chips and Salsa, great. Our server was a younger fella who did a great job. Walked that line well of a server who's attentive, yet not overbearing. Kept the drinks full, asked the right questions, and steered clear the rest of the time. Overall: of the places we've eaten in Vernal, it wasn't bad for local fare. But, overall, I would of rather saved the $18 (as our bill was a hefty $28) and gone to Taco Bell and gotten a $10 feast that would have been overall more satisfying read more

Hands down the best food, my favorite is the Carne asada Tacos and the #36 shrimp tacos. But my most favorite part are the owners. Sylvia is so supportive to the community. She gives all emergency personal free food the week of Fourth of July also a 10 % discount all other days of the year. read more

One word-----UGH!!! Seriously, this place tries hard to suck. Bad food, bad decor (weird baby pictures??), bad service, tiny water cups that had to be refilled every 5 secs. easily the worst Mexican eatery in Vernal and that's saying something. It's right next to a motel, so this is a warning to the patrons of motel...do not do the easy thing and stop here, go down the street to something a little bit better. If you live or visit Vernal, avoid this place, it will make you depressed and make you want to jump into the grizzly bear enclosure at the zoo. read more

I didn't realize Mexican food could be messed up. Atmosphere was nice (considering the town) and service was friendly but food was surprisingly poor. Watery cheese, dried out meat, tasteless salad. Big disappointment. I will read and heed Yelp ratings in the future. read more

It was pretty awful. I would not eat here again. The burrito was just a cold tortilla with dry shredded chicken inside. That's it. The taco had zero flavor. The chile relleno was terrible as was the enchilada. I gave it two stars because I did not get sick. read more
