Getting the run-down on both the immediate repair needs and what repairs/maintenance to anticipate in the future helped me take a car I expected to only last 6 months & made it run for another 2.5yrs. Over the years, his mechanics have prevented me from buying bad vehicles during pre-sale inspections. This is an amended review:…read more After I posted my Yelp review for Applewood Auto Care, I received a call from someone who identified himself only as Sam, who told me he was a District Manager with Applewood Auto Care. Although the Better Business Bureau web site shows that the business is a corporation, Sam assured me that Applewood Auto Care is not a corporation. Sam wanted to make it clear that they did nothing to cause my car not to start, but he couldn't explain how I was able to start my car and drive it to their shop. The auto shop that ultimately repaired my car said that, as they didn't know what Applewood Auto Care did during servicing, they had no way of knowing why the car wouldn't start, other than the fact that the timing chain needed to be replaced. Therefore, I amend my review of Applewood Auto Care to say, I have no proof that Applewood Auto Care did anything to exacerbate my car starting problem. In my original review, I didn't mention that Applewood Auto Care billing is awkward and unnecessarily confusing. Their oil change coupon special showed a price of $59.95, but no where on my bill was the $59.95 amount. Though a discount was applied, the bill included an unexplained "Fees" amount. Applewood Auto Care did demonstrate an interest in addressing my concerns, and even offered to perform a future oil change free of charge. Sam's reluctance to uniquely identify himself by refusing to reveal his last name was unprofessional and paranoid. Though Applewood Auto Care diagnostics were thorough and well documented with photos, overall, their prices for repair work are high, especially their estimate for replacing the timing chain. Ez called to let me know that they found a worn part while working through the repair and I authorized that addition to the fix. I was contacted promptly when it was completed. We were unable to pick it up until Monday morning, which was not a problem. My son and I popped in and I was walked through all that was repaired. I appreciate there is no upsell, just what is needed. My son commented that his car is driving so much more smoothly now and the sounds he had been experiencing are now gone. Highly recommend!

So we had to delay our trip out by 2 hours just to bring it back in. Told them my frustrations with having our travel delayed, and wasn't really met with any sort of apology / compensation. Finally get back out on the road, and when we arrive at our destination the next morning, we noticed a scraping noise when hitting some low bumps. They will be honest about what work is necessary vs. nice to have always. (On the rare occasion I have to go into the dealership, I take the list of "recommended" updates here to get the real take.) Last time I was in for service, Amy caught that a belt they had replaced was starting to wear but still within warranty, so they proactively put in a new one free of charge.
