Was told this is a great place to go for dental work and was so wrong. The guy in the reception did not know what he was doing. Keep asking someone else questions. For that reason they need to someone else to work the front. The guy in the front was the bad person. I was ready to pay and wait to get reimbursed but the way he was acting did not look good on you. So let me first say that this 2 star review is for the man at the reception desk. The entire rest of the staff gets 5 stars from me. I called in today (10/30/24) at 9:30 am because I wanted to make sure they were still accepting new patients, as I wanted to sign my daughter up. I was asked by the man at the front desk what insurance I have, I supplied it and got put on hold not once but 3 times. When he finally came back he asked me for my daughter's name, I spelled it clearly and was put on hold AGAIN. He kept talking to someone and clearly had no idea what he was doing. He then got my phone number and said he would call me back shortly. So, I gave him my number and waited....and waited...7 hours go by and not one call. So I call the dentist office back three times and no answer. I finally just left a message in hopes one of the females calls me back tomorrow. He clearly needs more training because when I signed myself up, it took no longer than 7 maybe 8 mins if that on the phone with the lady. That being said, I enjoy this office aside from his lack of understanding on how to do his job. Amazing doctor, terrible and nasty immature staff. I had told them multiple times that I need a call before the day of my appointment due to the medicine I need to take before coming in.. I told them about this over text and they cancelled my appointment because when I told them that they're supposed to ask me the day before my appointment if I can come or not they said to add it to my calendar, I said do your job. Because not only it is not their due diligence It is beyond stupid that they can't do their job. I was sent to the general managers line to be told I was "disrespecting her girls".. I said first of all your "girls" are grown women and should be able to act like grown women and do their jobs. My grandfather of 60 years old has also had a bad experience here taking my little sister and getting in a screaming match with him when he has a heart condition. If you want to go to an office full "girls" who are supposed to be grown adult women, but act like little girls and never got out of their highschool mindsets, go here! read more

Update: husband went to another dentist today.. he now needs 4 more root canals he has several cavities and there's some extra cement around the tooth that was filled before that needs to be filed down. Dr. Lopez is absolutely amazing! My daughter and I started seeing him the last couple of months and we've only had positive experiences. After so many bad experiences with pasts dentists it has been such a relief finding a dentist who cares very much. Dr. Lopez is great and so is his staff! Everyone is extremely kind and caring. My daughter especially hates going to the dentist but likes going to this office. He's an honest and caring dentist and that is sometimes difficult to find. He also fixed issues we faced from procedures done by our last dentist. My daughter expressed that after many painful experiences with other dentists she was surprised at how painless and great her experiences at Antioch Dental Group have been. It's so unfortunate that they receive negative reviews that aren't even meant for them due to change of ownership. If you go to their office you will understand how absolutely amazing they are! Most people would not expect to hear this about going the dentist but we are excited to go back for our next appointments! We hope to continue to see Dr.Lopez for a long time! Dr Lopez is the best. I had not been to a dentist in well over 10 years and was very nervous about coming to one, I had a very rotten tooth that needed to be extracted. Dr Lopez and his wife Georlene were very patient with me and made me feel 100% comfortable while I was there. Now I've had a deep cleaning, an extraction, 5 fillings and a crown put on my implant and I am beyond impressed with there work. I never leave reviews but there are so many negative ones I had to come give an update.. Like most people I am not a huge fan of the dentist so I was really anxious but I had a great experience here and I'll definitely come back! Lynn the hygienist immediately recognized how nervous I was and she made the experience a lot less scary. She was VERY friendly and made me feel safe like I've been here before or come regularly. Dr Lopez was quick and efficient as well and kept it straightforward which I appreciate. He was also friendly and shared his own experiences which always makes me feel more comfortable. Receptionist was very nice too and was not rude at all like the previous reviews say ( probably an old receptionist) She smiled a lot and very helpful. This applies to Dr Portovi and former staff apparently : Horrible! They said my son and my daughter including myself did not require any future work and that there was nothing wrong with their teeth not even a cavity during several checkups. And we all knew and felt that there was something wrong especially me because I was experiencing issues that felt more like infection. So needless to say I had to schedule an appointment somewhere else a a couple weeks later and they told me I had a flaming infection and that one of my teeth needed to be removed because it was abscessed and at a dangerous level if I did not have it removed immediately! and I required three fillings to be done one was very deep and another tooth was abscessed! My son who they said had zero cavities had in fact seven! And my daughter that they said had no cavities had four! So I don't know if they're really just that bad or if they were lying because they didn't feel like doing the work or something because I have Medi-Cal or something. That's what I felt like anyway. Also the receptionist that they've had for at least a few years is very rude! I am not sure why she even works there or anywhere for that matter other than the fact that she must be related or something. Do not go here at any cost it is not worth it! It nearly cost me and my family's health! I know it is hard to find when you have Medi-Cal but there are other places that have it that are much better like Gentle Dental. WARNING!!! I was a patient of Dr. Partovi for 12 years since I moved to Antioch. Went in for a regular cleaning almost two weeks ago. That same morning before my appointment I was having some pain in my lower left back side of mouth. Im unaware the practice has new ownership after 12 years. And A new stranger Dentist Mr Lopez I assume IDK walks in after the dental assistant was done with me. (I was expecting Dr Partovi) MR Lopez does not introduce himself and proceeds to examine me. I ask who he is and his credentials. I explain the pain he looks at the x-rays and tells me I need a root canal on a back molar which he does not perform. Ok cool. He gives me a referral to an Endo dr. I call the Dentist he referred me to and they do not accept my dental insurance! Fast Forward today 9.14.22 After the run around trying to find a dentist who not only does back molar root canals and who has a ASAP appt avaliable because at this point in in debilitating PAIN! After 20 +calls I Find a DR who I will have to pay out of pocket! ok So Boom...... I Pay $89 for a consultation and 3d X-ray with another Dr. New Dentist tells me its the front tooth that needs to be treated.!!!! So I call Dr Lopez office immediately and explain that this other Dentist is saying its the front tooth. Can Dr Lopez complete the root canal since ints in the front? since he doesn't do back ones??? So I can use my insurance to avoid paying $2400 out of pocket to the other dr. She says they need another exray. And I can come in today at 4:15 Mind you I was there less than two weeks ago. They did not do any due diligence to confirm or take additional ex rays of my teeth after he knew I needed additional teatment. Long story short I get there at 4:15 take a few xrays. Go into room and Dr Walks in. I say im frustrated, and he begins to tell me how I told him which tooth was hurt, and so on. With a very smug sarcastic attitude. I ask why would he allow a patient to determine and dictate the appropriate care plan regardless if he the care provider. Then he says maybe im in the Wrong place! I say maybe I am ! And I stormed out. Never in my life Have I been treated this way by a medical professional. I would never recommend anyone patronize this Dentist and his office. Unless you want to be mistreated! I truly hope his "Maybe you're in the wrong place wasnt a racist comment". Stay AWAY You've been warned! Go somewhere where they value their patients. read more

I wanted to update my review since I had some dental work done yesterday . I had a cavity I did not take care of (whoops ) so since my Initial app went so awesome , I finally scheduled to get the other dental work done. I went in yesterday morning at 9am . I saw the same male dentist (so sorry I still don't know his name but he's amazing ) and the dental assistant was super awesome also. They were very professional and had a calm presence when they spoke , since who likes getting their mouth drilled? It was absolutely painless , I didn't even feel the numbing shots . I've had cavities before and always felt the numbing shots and discomfort during the procedure but not here . From start to finish it was 35 minutes . Super quick but efficient. The dentist did warn me that 1 of my fillings may be sore and sensitive because of how close to the root it was and said it would be best to take some ibuprofen to help alleviate it . When the numbing wore off I barely felt any soreness . Honestly pleasantly surprised that my filling app was so amazing . Cannot recommend antioch dental group enough ! read more

I'm not going to lie to you! I'm never happy to go to the Dentist! Is anyone?? I've been coming to this same building close to 40 years!! It's always spotless! The waiting room has the latest magazines with an HD TV. The newly remodeled outside reminds me of a Spanish villa with shrubs and flowers. The employees are always friendly. The dental hygienist's have been there for years. They always send me away with that goodie bag of floss, paste and a new toothbrush. I've been extremely lucky I haven't had to get any major work done other than a cleaning. So, I can't give you a review based on Dr. Partovi work. I can give you one on his bedside manor! He's compassionate, caring, and down to earth. He doesn't try to up sale you or make you feel less than because you don't have dental insurance. What he did for me today was purely a random act of kindness that I will never forget. Having the ability to be empathetic to patients and their personal situations isn't something you learn in Med school. You either have it or you don't! I have been experiencing a tooth ache for about a week now. I couldn't bare the pain anymore. A friend of mine had referred me to Dr Partovi. When I made the phone call the receptionist was very nice and was able to fit me in. When I arrived, the lady at the front desk was very welcoming and sympathetic knowing that I was in pain. I didn't have to wait to long before they called me in. Dr came in to exam my mouth. He explain everything what was going on and why I was in pain. He explain what needs to be done in order to be out of pain. At this point I will do anything. The procedure took longer then normal because they had squeezed me in their busy schedule. But I'm not in pain anymore which is the important thing. Dr and his assistant was very gentle and thorough. The office was clean and his equipments were all up to date. Please know that this dental office is under new ownership and Doctor Lopez is a nothing less than a dental professional with comforting people skills to ease the common worry of going to the dentist. I went in yesterday for a cavity filling and his administration of anesthesia for numbing was seamless and I felt no pain at all. He is also reassuring that if I felt any discomfort I could raise my hand and he would stop to make sure I was okay to proceed. So I am reposting this review because Yelp threw me into the not recommended category for whatever reason. (Probably because I'm not a regular yelper). But here it is with a few additions as I just saw the Dr again today. I have been seeing Dr Partovi most of my life. Not only has he taken the time to care and rebuild my teeth that were ruined due to my own self destruction but just recently he did the most beautiful veneers! (And not at a great cost either) I would never choose any other dentist. They have always made me feel cared for and comfortable and his skills as a dentist are top notch. I think the only people complaining on here are irrational and unjustified because i have never seen such compassionate dentistry. Especially in todays day and age! Additions: Went in today due to extreme pain on a tooth that literally cracked in half. I thought this would get pulled for sure and that's not a thought I'm too fond of. But Dr P, being as awesome as he is rebuilt it. He did warn me this was a sketchy one and it might not take but so far so good. My tooth is whole again and the pain has subsided! Honestly he is a great dentist and compassionate. I wouldn't have my teeth today if it weren't for him and I'm only 33! He has saved my mouth time and time again despite it being my fault that my teeth are in the state they are in. If you need dental care he is top notch!! I have been going here for about 6-7 years now. I had no problems up until the day I had to switch from regular dental insurance to denti-cal. Since the switch I get treated like dirt. It's funny when he gets paid by regular insurance or you pay cash the world is yours and he is very pleasant but if you have medical forget it. When my good insurance was in place or I was pay cash I would receive an hour cleaning w/medical only 30min. With reg. insurance you receive a little bag with toothbrush etc. With medical no way. With reg. insurance you get topical numbing agent before injections w/medical no such luck and if you ask he kicks you out. I will never go back here and I will be filing complaints with the county and dental association. read more
