Ventured out to Gurnee to see Eternity with my mom and sister. Oh man, great movie! The facility was clean. Concessions transaction for popcorn and a drink was quick. Not happy with Pepsi products, but we make it work. Popcorn was delicious. The theater was clean and the seats are large and comfortable. When returning for a popcorn refill Charli assisted promptly so I didn't have to wait in the order line that was super long. I really appreciated that! It was good to see that they offer activities for kids also. The Wall looks pretty cool as well. read more

We visited Marcus Gurnee Cinema while in town for my son's Navy Boot Camp graduation, and it was a great experience for the whole family. The theater itself is very nice and offers more than your average movie theater. The snack options went beyond the basics, and the prices were exactly what I'd expect to pay at home for such a nice setup. The seating was spacious and comfortable with large lounge-style chairs. On the seat map, it looks more like a couch setup, but in reality, they're individual chairs--which still worked out great. One of the standout features was the sports bar inside, which added a really fun vibe, and they even have a special theater designed for watching games. That room has tables, softer lighting, and really makes you feel like you're right there in the middle of the action. There were only a minimal number of staff around, but the ones we interacted with were extremely helpful, friendly, and very nice--which really made the experience even better. Overall, this theater is a step above the rest. Between the comfortable seating, extra amenities, fair prices, and kind staff, it made for a really enjoyable night out with my family. Went and saw the newest aliens movie here... This is a good theater.. big... good sound nice seat but they don't serve you in your seat here. You have to order at the counter and bring it in. This theater is super close to our house. While it's not the biggest it does the job. Its really easy to bring our kids hear and its usually not over crowded. They tend to have deals, like cheaper tickets on Tuesdays etc. The seats are comfortable although there have been a couple times the power seats were not plugged in. Luckily the staff handle it quickly if you mention it to them. Theres also plenty of parking since its attached to the mall. read more

Some of my favorite teenage memories were at the Marcus Cinema in Gurnee Mills so when my mom mentioned she wanted to see Twisters while I was in town, I was all for it. As soon as we walked in, it was a complete 180 from what I remembered. I love the addition of the Take Five Lounge. It gives people the option to eat, drink and relax either before or after a movie. The Refreshments Area offers an array of food and snacks. They also offer the option to pre-order food as well, which is very convenient. Unfortunately, I found myself bumping into people after I received my snacks and started to walk away so the area could be a tad bit bigger in my opinion! Marcus Cinema has made some wonderful improvements over the past couple of years, including the comfortable, reclining chairs in the theater. We actually took advantage of the Value Tuesday Deal that offered $7 tickets for non-members and $6 tickets for reward members so definitely keep that in mind! We had a great experience watching the movie and I look forward to future visits. read more

I swear I had reviewed this cinema before, but for whatever reason, my review is no longer there even though it wasn't a bad or negative review. Yelp should inform me if my review is being removed. It's extra work for no good reason to rewrite a review. Marcus Gurnee is a good place to watch movies. I have been here multiple times and have had a nice experience. I usually catch movies here on discount Tuesdays with their Marcus Movies membership deal where standard ticket is only $6, and for superscreen or ultrascreen movies, there a slight upcharge. The theaters that I have been to have been clean, and the leather, reclining seats have been comfy. The theater screens differ in sizes, of course, which can be a hit or a miss depending on the type of movie you are watching and the size of the screen. For e.g., Godzilla x Kong was playing in a standard viewing screen where the auditorium was big, but the screen was small. The sound system is good. I have not used their concessions stand. They offer Zaffiros's pizza, which I am assuming is related to Milwauke's popular pizza place, Zaffiro's? Anyway, I would recommend going to this cinema if you live in or near that area. They play a good variety of movies, and on the days I have been here, they have been busy. read more

My friends and I go every Tuesday for the discounted tickets and free popcorn/discounted hotdogs (lol) -- you literally can't beat it. The Vernon hills AMC is my home theater and my loyalty has changed, I go to Marcus now and have put my friends on. Also I've done my research and Marcus Corp. donates to local charities in their community (Milwaukee) AND as a company they haven't donated to any political campaigns or lobbying within the last 5 years (OpenSecrets.com). The company is almost too good to be true. And specifically I have never had any problems at this location. I always have good interactions with everyone. Misgendered and yelled at by an employee at the ticket booth while refilling my cup after a late movie. We were aggressively commanded to refill at a specific soda machine when all were working. The employee was so angry and made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. All this after our tickets were lost for an entire day leading up to the film. Won't spend a dollar here again. read more

Took our family here when in Chicago for our youngest son's graduation from Navy RTC. I bought the tickets in advance to see Ghostbusters. The theater was old and the cleanliness left much to be desired. The price would have been appropriate if it was a newer theater with better sound; however, the main issue I have is they charged $7.17 service fee on top of the tickets. So, I guess this is what we are doing now? The customer, who pays for the movie, also is responsible to pay for your payroll increases as well? What a joke. The overall feel of the place when you walk in is dirty. The carpet, the windows, the counters. I went on a Friday night with my young son and it was crowded. Which is nice to see people back out at the theatre. The service was slow, rude, and clearly I have to say overpriced because the snacks totaled more than the movie and all we had was a drink a piece and a candy. The dirty theatre was not too bad when the lights went off but make no mistake the ignorant patron that left the movie, cussing at a kids movie was enough to make me tell the manager. She offered her apologies and then indicated she would send a few movie tickets out to "give another chance" and guess what, after two emails back and forth, her follow through was one star. MOVING PICTURES Experiencing '4DX' motion technology at this Gurnee megaplex depends entirely on the film being screened. Although I missed out on cashing in a free voucher (courtesy of a 2017 Yelp event), I finally made it back to Marcus Cinema. I convinced Nichole C that seeing 'Wreck-It Ralph 2' in the totally wild 4DX format would blow her cute little Puerto Rican mind. Located on the periphery of the Gurnee Mills mall, this theater is so much more than raisinets & projection screens. In addition to standard 3D, they've got something called 'UltraScreen DLX', which is similar to 4DX but without the moving seats and blower fans. We rolled up on 11/23/18 for a 7pm show and got our tickets. Waiting to purchase a tub of popcorn brought back memories of that Yelp event, where they were completely disorganized and not at all ready for our large group. Getting snacks this visit took a LONG time. I don't like the fact that the butter dispensers are **behind** the counter with no options for popcorn flavor dusting. Maybe they've had issues in the past with teens abusing the butter goop policy? Soda fountains have plenty of choices, including Icees and Slurpees, which is pretty nifty. Once inside the 4DX-equipped theater, the seats are reserved and spacious. They have a considerable range of motion, something that action oriented movies will really take advantage of. Between the rumble feature, the wall of fans, misters, and smell-o-vision, you become pretty immersed in the film. It's true, $20/person isn't cheap by any means (especially when you've got $5 deals at the local cinema), but across a 2-hour runtime the cost of 4DX becomes more than justified. It was a ton of fun and I'd highly recommend it, although not something I'd do on every visit. * TL;DR * Compared to other movie theaters, Gurnee Mills Cinema (a.k.a. Marcus Theaters) isn't the greatest. They're the only ones in the Chicago area retrofitted with 4DX, so they've got the market cornered on that front. But when paying an insane amount for popcorn, guests should have unrestricted butter pump access. Lines for concessions moved at a snail's pace and some of the employees seemed zombified by Black Friday crowds. I didn't mind making the 50 minute trip to get here, but we won't be repeating that any time soon. read more

I preordered pretzels bites on the app to pickup at 9:30. I got there at 9:32 & they had to make the pretzel bites so it took 10mins to make. Absolutely HORRIBLE went with my girlfriend after a long day to watch inside out. You need to be 25 to enter after 6pm and they denied us entry even though we paid online. The straws for the drinks have no paper wrapping and everyone touches them with their hands because it open to the public. The drink fountains were also pretty much water and there nachos are just Tostitos in a bag with cold cheese and 5 jalapeños. By far the worst experience I'd say almost in my life. Stay as far as hell as you can from this place they are super strict and REQUIRE ID at the door. If you don't have ID in person they won't serve you as they said the ones on my girls phone wasn't valid since it was a picture and not physical. ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!!! We told off and argued with the front and my girlfriend broke down in tears because they wanted to ruin our night. This is the worst movie theater ever you'd be best going to fox theater where they will treat there customers with respect and not like some piece of garbage. We walked in paid and even had one ID they told us and my girlfriend with multiple tattoos that nowadays kids under 13 and 12 have tattoos and anyone can say they are of age. I MEAN WHERE DO YOU EVEN MAKE THIS UP FROM?!!?! I WISH I WOULDA RECORDED THIS TO SHOW YOU GUYS JUST HOW INSANELY STRICT THIS PLACE IS. Ok 4DX theaters have been around for a few years now and I have been patiently waiting for Wi to finally get one and we still don't have one so I thought where is the closest one and maybe I will do a road trip, Bam Gurnee Mills has one, jack pot. The only way to describe 4DX is that some one was playing Dr Frankenstein and forcibly joined a theme park with a movie theater and you get this hybrid over the top movie experience. Ok 3D everyone knows but 4DX combines 3D with a 4 dimension which is the senses, your seat moves with the movie, smoke comes from the screen, you get misted with water when something hits the water, the seat pounds with the action, aromas fill the room, fans and bursts of air hit you with the action and super bright lights flash on the walls when there is a flash on the screen. Ok Wonder Woman is not my cup of tea and I would have never imagined that would be my first experience with 4DX but it was what was playing and I was chomping at the bit to finally experience this movie technology. WM was just action packed enough after viewing the preview to warrant 4DX for the premium price and to get a feel for what the future holds for the premium movie experience. Ok I like the idea and it's kind of cool but it's not perfected because the sync is slightly off with the seat responding to bangs before the screen, like when the talking doesn't match the mouth in a movie. It's like a roller coaster ride at times and bad turbulence in a plane which is going to annoy some people and if you are plagued by motion sickness than just skip it. Overall it's like a two hour theme park experience that I would not see every movie in but some of the highly anticipated blockbusters would be the way to go. read more

I went with my adult daughter to see Ticket to Paradise...good movie to "escape" life for a couple of hours. A comedy, had some teary moments too...such beautiful scenery...like I was on vacation with the actors! We grabbed lunch at the movies consisting of a hot dog and shared a popcorn and each had a drink for lunch. We were surprised how large the hot dog was and quite tasty!! This theater has greatly improved since I was last there. The theater has been renovated and all the old seats have been replaced with large recliners. You can purchase assigned seats and then arrive right as the movie starts. I went on $5 Tuesday so the value is great and you get free popcorn. Glancing at the food menu, they seem like they are stepping up the options with chicken wings, zaffiro's, and salads. The lobby was definitively crowded and hectic before showtime but was easy to navigate and find the correct theater. The bathrooms have also been updated and I am pleased with the renovations, comfy seats and reservations. read more

Compared to what I remember back in the day...this place is luxurious. Leather recliners, lots of food and snack options, a full bar, and a great sound system. Lots of space! No kids kicking your chair or people stepping on your shoes as they squeeze by you...that's due to the 3 feet of space in between the rows of leather seats. Highly recommend this place! Then again, I grew up here so I was here when Gurnee Mills was first built...to see a ghetto, gum on the floor, dirty, smelly theatre to what it is now is amazing! read more
