Their menu on yelp....
Victor G.

I really was hoping for something better here with the good reviews, but it just wasn't there. The staff were very friendly and food was made quickly- hence the two stars. I ordered 2 each of the breakfast casserole special and basically a two egg breakfast with sausage and pancakes. Their prices that they show on yelp you can tell are outdated. As of July 2025 it says these were $6.95 +- on their yelp menu. I'm realistic. I knew they were outdated, but was expecting maybe $12 a plate. Nope. When I arrived they were $14.95 +. My total was more than $70 as I ordered 4 plates. When I called in the order they didn't tell me the total on the phone. They should update their prices in their yelp menu anyhow. Oh well, I thought. Maybe the taste of the food will make up for it I thought- nope! The food was very mediocre for the prices. The breakfast casserole had way too many veggies that devoured the measly 2 eggs that were there. If there were meat in this it would be ok priced but there wasn't. Again, the meals I ordered for my kids were the basic two egg breakfast. It was fine, they were happy, but not a good value for the price.

I've eaten here a couple times over the last month. The first experience was lovely We had breakfast on a Saturday morning.. . Everyone was so nice, the food was pretty good and the coffee was outstanding.. We go back two weeks later on a weekday and this experience wasn't even half as good as the last experience . $55 for breakfast for two is a lot of money. So when , the coffee was really bad this time , the food was just mid and the service wasn't quite as good because only one server runs the whole dining room on a Friday. It's just hard to spend $55 on breakfast for two when the experience is just OK..

I've been going to this restaurant since I was a little girl and i'm still coming and everytime i've came back-it's remained the same. The friendliest welcome, the kindest employees, the fastest service you'll receive ANYWHERE, and the best food. Some of the same employees still work here since I was a kid. There was an owner switch a bit ago, but everything has remained just as it was before. This is genuinely one of the best restaurants of all time, and I will continue to go here as long as they're open and i'm alive. I couldn't recommend it more.

Very cute spot. Old school photos and collectibles inside. Gives me a diner vibe. Came here for a quick bite. The service was amazing. We ordered the combo. Which came with 2 eggs 2 slices of bacon, a slice of ham, link of sausage, 2 slices of French toast, and home fries. Everything was good. My only complaint is the home fries was on the hard side. The server had us try the salsa verde freshly made and it was so bomb. They need to bottle and sell that thing. If I'm in the area I would come back to try other items in the menu. Parking lot available.

We arrived at about 11:00am, there as plenty of parking and no wait. The host pointed at a booth for us to sit at. We loved the old school vibe at the Cafe with all the knickknacks. A quiet young man came by to take our drink order.l, I got a coffee and my husband got a coke. Our server was Ramon and he was very funny, friendly and welcoming. I ordered the 3 egg build your own omelet with cheddar, olives, mushrooms, and ham. With my omelet I also received hashbrowns and toast. Everything on my plate was pretty good. I'm always a happy coffee drinker if they have good coffee and decent creamer, which this cafe had both. My husband ordered the French dip with French fries. He said the French dip was pretty tasty and he liked that the au jus wasn't overly salty and seemed to be made in house; which is a plus. Overall we were happy with our experience and would definitely come back again. We both felt that the food was good but nothing to write home about.

First time checking out this place. A restaurant that has many nostalgic decorations such as Route 66 and a life size Elvis when you enter. Ramon was our server. He was AWESOME! The kind of decent human being that can cheer you up when you're down or just make your day by lifting you up with his own happiness! Thank you! We ordered the following .... Vegetarian Omelette- Avocado, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and cheese. And one of the specials- Homemade Corned Beef Hash 2 eggs, potatoes, toast. I must say it was A LOT of food. Each plate looked like it can happily cover your full day of meals! lol We did have leftovers for sure! The food was good. Perfect for breakfast and there are a lot of menu options. Would definitely come back again.

HUGE PORTIONS!

I've lived in El Cajon for 2 Decades and have always passed by Antique Row Cafe as a kid and adult thinking about trying it. It may not have the greatest exterior, but the experience and food was amazing, it is on the more expensive side, but I think it is due to the portion size! HUGE! I would order one thing at a time It was pretty packed and I understand why. I will definitely be going back

My son asked for a bacon and egg burrito...it was huge and my son said it was awesome and can't wait to come back!
Christy B.

Our server was Conchita. She was fantastic. Highly recommend eating here even if you are just visiting the area! The breakfast was great. We had the steak and eggs and my son ordered a custom breakfast burrito. (Eggs, bacon and cheese) I took a pic of the half he could not finish. (Love leftovers!) The entire place is decorated with old antiques. It was fun showing our son some of the old things displayed. He loved the kaleidoscope that was at our booth!! Thank you for the great service and we will be back!!!

Monte Cristo and Eggs Benedict with Homestyle Potatoes

Large portions, bang for your buck! Server was friendly and very attentive! Antique Decorations, everything was SO CUTE! 10/10 would go again it felt like the kind of restaurant the main characters stop to have breakfast at.

Food: Well, okay... we came here once and my daughter got chicken and waffles. It was SO good…read morethat she begged us to come back. The rest of our food was okay, nothing amazing, but solid. So we got back a second time and sit down to order, "Chicken and waffles please" - they are out of chicken. Oof! Strike 1. That sucks. She was disappointed but she got something else and we shrugged it off. Then about 2 weeks back we came in again... this time I asked first, "Do you have chicken for the chicken and waffles?" They are out of waffles. Oof! Strike 2! And isn't it just batter? I don't get it. We didn't stay that time because my daughter was visibly sad this time. So I think we are done trying or else this just becomes a running gag we try to get out of, like Groundhogs Day or something... Atmosphere: It's cozy inside. I love all of the details, like the wood carvings and all of the bear stuff. It's like you're in a log cabin. And I like that they have paper menus and throw them away (because plastic reusable menus are germ magnets). The newspaper-esque theme is pretty cool too. Price: It's no more expensive than say, Dennys or Ihop. Middle of the road and they have lots of options. A decent meal for two - 50$. Service: Each time we have been, the servers have been great. Nice servers and even when the guy had to tell us they were out of chicken, he was super apologetic. No complaints on the service. Overall: It's a nice place... when they have the advertised food. So I honestly don't know if we will be back or not. Maybe we will give it a shot but I don't want my daughter to be disappointed again. I get it, if it was something they only made 50 of a day, I'd understand. But... chicken and waffles? Hmmm...

There were several quirky cute diners in the area so it was tough to choose. Ultimately, Izzy's menu excited me more than the others. I love the barbecue brunch thing going on, too. Very unique and we totally would've tried some ribs had we not gone to Phil's for the first time the night before and had a ton of leftovers. We split a Country Benny and the Jalapeño scramble, which had their homemade pulled pork in it. Julie was an outstanding server. Super patient, attentive, and helpful. You can choose muffins or coffee cake (only $1 extra!) instead of toast, which I love by the way, but I really appreciated that she asked if I had tried the coffee cake because it's not what I thought it was. She explained it as more of a vanilla cupcake with nuts and white icing? Which is kinda random that they call it coffee cake, but it made us opt for the zucchini muffin which was definitely the right choice. Moist, warm, and delicious to nibble on while we waited for the rest of our meal. She also asked if we needed anything else, like salsa, when our entrees came. Which, I usually alwayyys have to request but she was 2 steps ahead of us. The Bloody Mary was tasty and just strong enough to start our afternoon. I'm a huge sucka for biscuits & gravy and theirs really hit the spot. The sausage patty was so good and definitely homemade. Perfectly poached eggs harmoniously smothered in yummy gravy and fluffy biscuits. Crispy hashbrowns, great country potatoes. The scramble was good, too. Pulled pork had a nice smoky flavor and I've never seen nor had it with eggs before which is awesome. The portions were just right. Not huge, but we got full and everything tasted great so what more can you ask for? The deep fried pie! Duh. Super bummed we didn't take a peach one home...

The place feels lively in a calm and familiar way that teenagers would appreciate a lot because it has that friendly neighborhood energy that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. I noticed right away that there were a lot of teenagers eating there, talking with each other, and enjoying their time without feeling watched or rushed. Seeing that made me realize how naturally this cafe fits into the kind of environment teenagers love, somewhere they can relax, laugh, and feel like they belong. The food at Bonnys Cafe surprised me in the best way. It tasted exactly like the kind of comforting breakfast you hope for when you walk into a classic cafe, and it made the whole experience feel even more inviting. Even though the dishes are simple, they have that homemade flavor that teenagers would enjoy because it feels real and not overly fancy. The atmosphere inside is bright and open, and the staff treat everyone with the same kindness, which makes it easy for teenagers to feel comfortable being themselves there. As I walked around and looked at the different tables, I did not realize how much there was to appreciate about the place until I took a moment to really take it in. It is the kind of cafe where you can sit for a while without feeling like you need to hurry up and leave. I really appreciated how easy it was to enjoy my time there without any pressure. I never doubted that the experience was going to turn out the way I hoped it would because everything about the cafe, from the food to the atmosphere, felt genuine and welcoming. I only visited Bonnys Cafe one time in my life before making this review, but it left a strong impression on me. It was one of the most comfortable and inviting cafes I have been to in a long time, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a place to eat good food, hang out with friends, and feel relaxed. I lived for 24 years. I am not physically or mentally 24 years old. In the summertime in the year 2024, I learned that I am still physically and mentally 18 years old. I also learned in the summer that year that my prefrontal cortex is way more developed than average 25 year olds prefrontal cortex in the human brain.
