Tyne Coffee was a pleasant surprise to my day. I had some time, did a quick Google search, and ended up here. It's located in more of a warehouse area with plenty of parking -- not where I expected a café to be, which made it even more interesting. The space is big, with the main café area up front and an expanded section in the back with more seating, including lounge-style sofas and tables for meetings, studying, or working. I ordered a matcha and it was so good. Great size, too -- a little pricey in my opinion, but the quality was definitely there. Would come back if I'm in the area. read more

This place is so solid!! Was in the area for some appts and needed some breakfast and caffeine. Thru my trusty app, I stumbled upon this cafe around 930am on a Friday and had a handful of people and a short line, but never became overly or uncomfortably crowded. Plus this place is surprisingly big. I stopped in for an iced dirty chai latte and Lox salmon bagel. Everything tasted so good. Latte tasted great and woke me up. The bagel was perfect for me; the amount of lox and cream cheese (a lot of it mmm) and their bagel tasted homemade? Not sure if it is or they buy it and toast it super good, but I really enjoyed it. Love the decor of the shop and bought me a sticker for a souvenir. Service is nice from each employee. Came in on a quiet afternoon. The two young ladies behind the counter didn't really make any effort to welcome us in or make us feel like we weren't disturbing them by being there. Second visit and still love this little Oasis, even more so now that they've opened up more space. They have two little Nookie type areas and an outdoor aside from the main floor. They must want me to come back because this time I stopped by, hoping to get some breakfast, but the kitchen was down. Happily, they still had great alternatives. Ordered a Cortado and burrito. The burritos are small almost grilled taco side. It's still good. I only ordered one thinking it would be huge, but definitely want to take advantage of their deal in getting 2 for $6. Then again, this may not be an ongoing item. I went around 10 AM and it was moderately busy on a Thursday. Both were really yummy and I think I like this place for their food more than their specialty drinks. We got the matcha latte and fog on the Tyne but both were a bit too watery for our liking. Quiet coffee shop in an industrial area, perfect for enjoying some solo time of quiet conversation with a friend. There is a main road right next to it but doesn't get a lot of traffic. The inside is pretty small but designed with a great aesthetic. There is a comfortable seating area on one side, with a few small tables on the other. They also have outdoor seating and picnic tables with shade structures. Servers were very friendly and took my order quickly. Because I was sitting outside though, I had to come in to check on my order myself. There was an issue with my order (it came iced when I ordered hot), but they very quickly remedied it and bumped me to the top of their coffee making list so that I didn't have to wait longer. Their dressed avocado toast was perfect - loved every bite. Toast wasn't too hard, perfect flavor, not too much salt or red pepper. I opted for the pumpkin spice latte from their fall menu. It was good but tasted for maple than pumpkin, which I didn't mind but was just unexpected. Prices are fair, I would say even moderate compared to other places nowadays. read more

I have been to Tyne coffee twice. First I want to see the cappuccino's are excellent. And the two barista I have met were very friendly and professional. The coffee shop is in a business area. Thus the views outside are not showing enhancing. The decor is nicely done, but on both visits it was like a library. There is no vibe. Very clean some of the furniture is not so comfortable. I can't argue with the price or the size of the cappuccinos because they're excellent. But the scenery is very limited as I said, and it's almost library like quiet inside. I wish they could move to downtown. I like a coffee shop I can go to which has a good vibe but not woke in overdrive. I'll be back. read more

A wonderful choice for a midday pick me up! I was in El Cajon and had an hour to kill so I found Tyne Coffee not too far from Fletcher Parkway/Broadway. This is such a pleasant little cafe in the middle of a business park. There's plenty of parking on a Saturday but they do have designated spots for customers. It's a small shop but really welcoming, with really nice interior and plants. The seating was really comfortable too and I spent an hour here sipping my coffee and eating my bagel sandwich, and getting some work done. I ordered my usual americano and tried their loaded bagel with sausage. The employees were super nice and I enjoyed their brew and food selection! Tyne Coffee in El Cajon has quickly become one of my favorite local spots. It's tucked away behind some industrial buildings, but don't let that fool you, this place is such a hidden gem! The vibe is chill and welcoming, perfect for catching up with friends, getting some work done, or just relaxing with a really good cup of coffee. Their drinks are consistently amazing. My go-to is the Iced Vanilla Latte with cold foam, and make sure to have it made with the housemade vanilla. I repeat, the housemade vanilla... total game changer!! Was very pleased to find a place that has gluten free breakfast sandwiches (that also don't suck) lol it's hard enough to find gluten free options at all, but the GF bread also wasn't half bad. And the lavender matcha latte was yummy. Also like that there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for me to sit and read. The reason I've been to this coffee shop so much is because they offer a Sugar Free (SF) Cold Foam on their cold brew. It is so hard to find that nowadays. I only do the SF vanilla. I do not recommend the SF caramel because it does have more of the artificial flavor to it. For the most part, all of their coffees and pastries are delicious. I have not tried any lunch items. They do also offer tea, or other bottled drinks. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. It is super cute and filled with plants which gives it a home-y vibe. The owner/staff have always provided positive customer service. I will say, this is a small business coffee shop so be patient when waiting for your drink and sit and enjoy the moment. If you are in a hurry, this may not be the place to go order coffee. They also provide merch so you can swift through the t-shirt rack while waiting. read more

I was in the area for an appointment and had some time to grab a bite to eat beforehand, so I checked my bookmarks to see what's nearby, and I was excited to see a coffeeshop I hadn't yet been to! The barista was friendly and helped me come up with my order: a Veggie Sarnie with egg, tomato, spinach, Swiss cheese, and avocado-lime sauce on a toasted everything bagel, and an Iced Fog on the Tyne (aka London Fog latte). The breakfast sandwiches that I tried, two different ones, had Swiss cheese that tasted like American cheese and bacon that I prefer to be crispier. The breads used were a bit of a disappointment. The brioche bread was not good. The panini style bread was a bit better. I think that the owners may want to consider choosing higher quality cheese and higher quality bread. Cooking your bacon, hopefully in an oven, a bit longer so that it is crispy and not stringy would also help. read more

Tyne is one of my new favorite weekend coffee spots. They do not disappoint. It's an east county hidden gem taking El Cajon to a new level. A friend discovered this place and asked if I wanted to check it out. I've got to say that it's a hidden gem in the city of El Cajon. Located in a small business plaza you'll find Tyne Coffee. The interior of the coffee shop is very modern and has a relaxing vibe. They have your usual choices of coffee, but I will say that their price points are very reasonable compared to other small coffee shops. The baristas and employees are very kind, welcoming, and are quick to share with you their favorites and also offer suggestions should you want any. I went with an iced matcha latte and their breakfast bagel which consisted of an everything bagel, egg, sauage, and cheese. I didn't have to wait long before my latte and breakfast was served which is always a plus. I have to say that I really enjoyed the latte. Taste was on point and it was not overpowering which is something I run into a lot at other coffee shops. Highly recommend their breakfast bagel! Simply delicious, but it's only downfall is that it's priced a bit high. This coffee shop is adjacent to a bicycle shop, and you can walk right into that shop, which is pretty cool. We loved our breakfast from Tyne Coffee. It is such a cute place located in a sort of weird part of El Cajon. The inside is darling with plants, shelves with things to buy like coffee and stuff. I loved the disco ball! The counter guy was super kind and friendly. We got the breakfast bagel without the ham. So good. I had the avocado toast and maybe it could have had a bit more seasoning and be a bit more toasted but I still loved it. By far my favorite thing was the oat milk vanilla latte. I was going to have a caramel latte which is my go to when I saw three big jars of powder. I was like what is that? Apparently they make their own vanilla powder and they also had matcha and chai.
