My friend told me about this beautiful jewelry shop located inside the Sugar Creek Restaurant. We hit a 40% off sale for Labor Day, so I found some great deals! The rings I purchased were reasonably priced: one small moonstone and sterling silver, the other was a uniquely styled orange agate, garnet and mother of the pearl set in sterling silver. I also found some stud earrings, a precious glass blown hermit crab, and a few gifts. They have lots of mermaid jewelry too! In addition to gems and stone pieces, they also carries costume jewelry, make up bags, jewelry cases, beach accessories, scarves, some Yeti items, and other nautical gifts. I was impressed with their selection of Larimar. I'd love to see them put more items on their FB page for sale and keep their Instagram up to date. They offer shipping! The saleswoman was helpful showing me various baubles, alerting me to the sale items, and answering questions. This is a gem of a place and I'll be absolutely stopping in whenever I'm in the OBX!

It's all in the Silver Lining. On this day of days, we stopped by to see what the store had to offer. I saw one dainty little necklace that could be for a young girl or baby, but did not by it. I have no kids or nieces worthy of such a gift. Besides, they have grown out of the cutesy fartsy faze already. Nevertheless, the work someone did on the peices of art did not pass my eyes without appreciation for the fine details. The staff were polite, but not overly enthusiastic about us being there. It seemed to me at least they enjoyed each other's company than the guests arriving in their store. Nevertheless, I will keep this place in mind for my next book, or find a better location.

And why not, if you forgot something needed for the beach, this is one of your best bets to go to. Super Wings dot the Outer Banks. The stores come in all sizes and are recognizable by the yellow buildings. I swear they are spaced just right on the road through the area, and on either side of the road. I was in need of some board shorts and a seat for the beach. They were having a deal for the chairs that day, or it could be for the whole season, and I picked one up. Even though it is for the beach, I still have it in my vehicle and I'm sure it will come in handy. When it came to the board shorts, there area many to choose from. All types of designs including ones with characters. It is almost a requirement, as well, to check out the souvenir section while in here. Knick knacks galore, always something that you can bring home with you.

This store is in the same shopping center as A Penny Saved... which is a great local thrift shop…read more The owner was very friendly and told us a lot of stories about the items in the shop, several of which belonged to his family. The shop is very well curated and easy to navigate and even though it's small there is a lot to see. These definitely aren't thrift store prices but bargaining is encouraged and the stories behind the pieces are part of the allure. On my trip there earlier this week I found a lamp that matched one I already owned (from the 1950s, with a lily pad base- very Art Deco), a large old soda crate with dividers that was very reasonably priced, and a semi old Coke wall mount bottle opener. Some of the things I left that I wish I bought? New old stock vintage playing cards, old old playing cards from around 1950, some really reasonably priced Coke soda crates (they prob weren't super old but they are hard to find nowadays), a set of 8 jadeite mugs, several vintage oyster plates, and an old children's story book with beautiful color illustrations. Ah well there's always next year. Will return!

The store is mainly packed full of trendy and typical beach souvenirs and clothing but there are some exceptions. I put the stacks of Salt Life, Fish Hippie and Simply Southern tshirts in the trendy/typical category. Some of the nicer items that caught my item were Yeti containers, Southern Tide menswear and Cobian flip flops. In the past I have been a big fan of Farmer's Daughters jewelry but that wasn't very shoppable this time around as it was hard to get to the cases. With the challenges that COVID-19 have created for small businesses I tried to give them a fair shake while vacationing in the Outer Banks for a few weeks but Farmer's Daughter left me disappointed. The store was just as cramped as ever with merchandise spilling over into the aisles. And the employees were less than welcoming. One employee pushed past me, literally, to get back to her restocking task at the jewelry counter. And the employee who rang me up only said four words - "twenty-seven seventy-four."

This is one of me and my group's favorite shop. They have the cutest stuff. The items in the shop…read moredon't feel cheap. The girls working there are constantly working hard to keep everything clean and nice looking. I even got a free shirt for spending a certain amount. You have to stop here!
