I have been wanting to try this place out since I always kept seeing it on Main Street (in front of the Santa Ana Zoo). I took a Yelper's suggestion and got the cabeza tacos, which did not disappoint. My boyfriend ordered a torta, which was smaller than we'd thought it would be. Overall, it was a good spot to walk to (with reasonable prices) and grab a quick bite.

I took a bite before taking the picture. Tacos are $3 but very good meat portions. It wasn't a long wait either. Ps. Cash only !!!

Had a craving for tacos and walked to this taco truck, and I am happy I did. I ordered three tacos de asada (steak) and a soda for $7! Tacos are $2 each unless you get de lengua which are $3. The tacos are nice size double tortilla and the cook was generous with the meat portion. I will definitely be returning to try their tortas and quesadillas. This is within walking distance for me but if your driving finding a spot to park may be hard and surrounding apartments take most of the street parking available but finding a parking spot is worth it! The area can be a bit dark at night and it can be a busy street so I would suggest using the crosswalk. The wait time wasn't bad and the service was good. The tacos were bomb, I will be back. read more

When my taco person flaked on the day of my husbands surprise 40th party, I was stressed and panicking! My sis got on yelp and searched for anyone who would be willing to help us out last minute. She came across Antojitos Hector and they were willing to come to my house with such short notice. They arrived at my house within 2 hours with a smile and ready to serve. The tacos and salsa were delicious and the service was amazing. ! All our guests were raving about the tacos. Thank you so much for helping keep the vision on my husbands party alive and for saving the night. We had MANY hungry guests who left satisfied. Not my favorite. Al pastor not off the spit. Just your standard soft, marinaded pork. Didn't like the texture. Chorizo a little dry. Tacos a bit small for being standard tortillas and $3 each. Tortilla on quesadilla was a little hard/chewy. Also not as stuffed as you would expect. Asada was the best meat. I will say the rice and beans was a nice surprise. Very good beans. Good flavor for the green salsa. The red was very hot for the sake of being hot - not a lot of flavor. Everything that has been said about parking is true - there is none. Park across the street in the big lot if its unlocked but then you have to take your chances crossing Main St. read more

AH, this place is ALLL hype. When I hear "THE TACO STAND" I think of some bomb authentic authentic meat packed, fresh tortillas bein handmade in the back, fresh guac on top, onion, cilantro tacos. They were seriously just okay, blah. Pastor taco didn't taste like pastor, it was good but not pastor-y. Asada fries were just thick fries, a can of nacho cheese, guac and sour cream plopped on. Nothing authentic about this place at all what's so ever. Food was a 5/10. The tortillas didn't seem freshly hand made. It was decent, not authentic, I can understand why there wasn't one Mexican person eating there. The salsa bar is everything really bomb salsas, pickled onions, cilanto salsa all that was amazing. BUT it was just alwhite. Don't think I'll be back unless I'm drunk and someone else is buyinlol. read more

Best tacos in OC. So good I've been going once or twice a week for a few months now. I usually get Pierna, Pastor, and Cabeza. Their tortas are also delicious. Park at Santa Ana Zoo parking lot. The entrance to the parking lot is on the far end from the taco stand. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays and open from 4pm to midnight Wednesdays thru Sundays I believe. read more

***BEST TACOS IN OC*** So my boyfriend brought me here a while back, and I must say, I was expecting just an average taco. However, it surprised me at how flavorful and juicy the meat was. Carne asada is my favorite(: the tacos come packed with flavorful onions and cilantro, and a small side of cucumbers and radishes! A must have with tacos! They also come with a green sauce and red salsa which are super delicious, but I must warn you that the red one is really spicy! So don't overdo it on the tacos ;) unless of course you like spicy food and can handle it. Also, there's a side of these spicy sliced onions which are soooo good on top of your tacos!! The owners themselves are sweet, personable with their customers, and hard working. I will continue to bring my business here, and also look forward to seeing this truck turn into a store front one day so they can expand their restaurant to different locations. I hope they do! I recommend this place for sure! Screw king taco, come here. read more

The tacos are more spectacular than a golden unicorn soaring over a candy rainbow.....delicioso! I am amazed every time I go here. Last week the owner gave me great cabeza, taco that is. He is a magician with seasonings and at handling his spatula. This is a quaint, family run taco stand that produces great food. read more

These Tacos are amazing! I tried the Al Pastor Tacos and they did not disappoint. I no longer have to drive to Tacos El Gordo. No exaggeration but these are the best tacos I've had in Orange County. Just as a side note, this place takes forrrrrrrr everrrrrr to serve! They really need to speed up a bit if they want to stay in the spot light. read more

When I stood in front of the taco stand window, it took about 10 mins for anyone to acknowledge I was waiting to order. After placing my order it took an additional 30 mins for my order of only three tacos to be ready. Hoping the food would at least be good, I was wrong. Tacos were not worth the wait. read more

Came home today after a long day of hard work and was extremely starving. Only problem is the parking sucks so bad where I live so you could imagine I would want to get home asap! I've noticed this taco stand outside my apts and was interested especially seeing that there is always people there. I tell my roommate "hey instead of ordering a pizza let's check this dude out I got a good feeling".... Absolutely MF DELICIOUS!! The fact that it took me about 30 sec to get there was even more cooler. I highly recommend this spot especially because its traditional, fast, and fair priced. I will warn you the red chile has a bit of a kick to it so I wouldn't drench your food with it if you're a lightweight ;) read more

Had some tacos the other night and they were pretty good. I ordered two chicken tacos with just meat and two asada and one Al pastor tacos with a side of beans and rice. I think I offended the guy buy asking for the breakdown of the charge. But I tipped them for their work. I waited ten to fifteen minutes at their rush perhaps but worth it. The guy was super nice and came out to give me my food. In my bag it was packed nice and safe and the beans he gave to me I hand. I just wish I knew their hours read more

I drive from Long Beach just for Hector's tacos. Best tacos ever!!! The meat is delicious and the quality is better than any other taco truck I have ever been too. Prices are great too and they accept cards. Everyone is very friendly and they stay open late for the perfect late night feast. My favorite is their chorizo, pastor, and the pierna. If you like your salsa spicy then this is your spot. Come try Hector's Tacos you will be hooked! read more

WOW!!! Just ate here today for the first time after a recommendation from a buddy. Outstanding tacos: asada, pastor and pollo. I even went out on my huero limb and tried the lengua and cabeza. I'm glad I did because they were truly incredible. Great service and amazing food. read more

It is next to a gas station. It looks like a pretty popular place during the lunch hour. It's a smaller place inside, but they do have an outdoor patio. We were able to find a small table, not too far from the front counter. Ordering at the front was easy. The staff was friendly and quick. We could see the cook grilling up the meats as we placed our order. There were at least five different salsas to choose from as well as cucumbers and a chili oil at the self-serve salsa bar. I noticed a customer in front of us ordered a kids plate which included two street tacos and rice and beans. That's what I ended up ordering with Carne Asada and chorizo. There were four or five proteins to choose from for the kids plate. I loved the grilled meats with the char flavor. It was delicious! Everything was well seasoned. I wish I would've ordered a third or maybe even a fourth taco because it was that good! I will definitely come back many times and it's going to be on our lunch rotation for sure.

The burrito was solid sized, I was definitely full after eating it. Great seasoned potato wedges inside, tasty egg, and plenty of bacon and sausage. Only thing with the bacon and sausage was that the bacon was actually bacon bits. I'm pretty sure they are pre bagged bacon bits, judging by the extreme salty taste...they overpowered the sausage inside so all I was really getting was bacon bits. There was supposed to be chipotle mayo inside as well, but I don't think mine had it. Or it was also overpowered by the bacon bits. Burrito was grilled on both sides and wrapped up nicely. By the time I got it, it was still super hot. The green and red salsas are also delicious.

It's hard to find a good Taco Tuesday but they do a great job helping the community and keeping the prices $1.50 for basic meats like pollo, asada, and al pastor. I personally love my lengua and this truck has some of the best I've tried! It is a bit pricier but definitely worth it given the taste/quality. A couple things about the condiments--green sauce is spicier than you think, red one is more of a salsa and not that hot. Radishes are unfortunately not very crunchy/juicy at this location so I don't get it as often as I would at other taco spots. If you're ever in a rush, they do phone orders AND DoorDash. I've done all the methods and quality stays up there each time! However, if you do wanna enjoy your tacos right after they're prepared, you can always sit at their tables next to the truck. They have quite a bit of dining space and I've never seen it too crowded to the point of having difficulty finding a spot to sit. In terms of finding the truck, you just need to turn into S Hathaway St. Very close to the train tracks. I park in any free space they have there, since the businesses are usually closed after 5pm (which is when the truck opens).

Our order was just sitting on the counter. When I checked the tacos, the meat wasn't just lukewarm--it was completely cold to the touch. When I caught the cashier's eye, he just gave me a thumbs-up. When I told him the food was cold, the cashier, Irvin, immediately got defensive and told me with an attitude, 'I called the number twice.' I explained that we didn't hear it, and pointed out that staff had been bringing food out to everyone else anyway. Instead of offering a solution, he doubled down, saying, 'I heard my voice over the speakers,' giving me a 'too bad, so sad' look. When I asked him to remake the food, he completely refused, repeating that he'd called the number. Unwilling to argue with someone that unprofessional, I told him to keep the cold food and just give me a refund. He refunded the money and we left. I would've ordered more, but was flying back to sac in a few hours so had to limit what I ordered to bring back. This location is the original and it is crowded inside since they sell goods also. I believe they have a few tables for dining in outside, bit I've never dined in so cannot speak to that. I'll continue to go here, or one of their other locations when I'm in So-Cal.

The biggest concern, though, was the pastry display at the front. It was covered with tiny gnats, which is both unsanitary and unappetizing. Those pastries are being sold to customers, and that's something that should be addressed immediately. It's an easy fix that would make a huge difference. I genuinely hope they improve the coffee and take care of the pastry display, because the food is excellent and this place has a lot of potential.
