Came to The Taco Stand today and it was busy as always. The tacos are excellent, and the meat has a great BBQ flavor. My favorite are the Al Pastor tacos. They have a salsa bar and the restaurant has a rustic industrial look. Service is a little slow, but that's expected with how busy they are. Came here around 11:30 am on a taco Tuesday and there was not much of a wait surprisingly. Though the seating is very small and gets crowded quickly, besides that the place is nice and cozy and clean. I ordered al pastor, pollo asado, mushroom tacos, and churros. The tacos were really well done and the house made corn tortillas really shined and had the perfect bite yet was nice and soft. The tacos were right up there with los cholos in my opinion though the salsa bar was not as extensive as theirs. That said the creamy salsas were tasty and my favorite were the seasoned pickled onions and the salsa Negra. The churros were hot, crispy and fresh and made to order which was a nice touch and served with condensed milk. I will 100% be back and try more on the menu. read more

This is my 2nd review. OK, this was for sure the best 2 food items I've had.. it's Time to declare this IS The Most Flavorful Taco Shop in all of OC! Órale, órale! This is my favorite taco spot in OC and it's a bit better than Los Cholos too. Been coming here for years now, the consistency and quality still remain the same and delicious. Never had a bad taco here, so you know they be putting up the good work. Came in last night, and no, they don't have Taco Tuesday specials, but I will still pay for those bomb ass tacos because it's definitely worthwhile. The whole place was pack and lit up with bright lights. It's by Chapman University, so you gonna see lots of students coming by too. The staff there were also friendly and patient. The lady in the back was nice to cut up new fresh limes for me. Always a good vibe here! It was random seeing some of my homies here too the other day. Just goes to show how popping it is! I got two el pastor and one carne asada, and my partner got a Baja fish and the mushroom taco. Everything a 5/5. Their homemade corn tortilla is on a different level and not soaked in oil. The texture is good. The meat is good quality too and very tender/juicy. My favorite one was the el pastor with those pineapple bites. The mushroom taco on the other to my surprise was quite tasty! All the sauces are bomb, but I really like the super spicy one, the green one, and orange one. You gotta try every sauce to see what matches your palate. For a Sunday at 1:30pm it was crazy crowded. Like no personal space type of crowded. People would stand next to you and hover waiting for a place to sit, so overly crowded. Very small location, and parking is tough to get with paid parking everywhere. I do love the salsa bar, with variety of salsa options. The mild avocado salsa is the best! Let me start by saying the food here is amazing and the service has always been great. Unfortunately, I do have one major issue that has become extremely frustrating. I regularly order one or two sides of the Mahi Mahi, which is advertised as a 5-5.5 oz portion. I track my macros and weigh my food, and every single time the actual portion of fish has weighed between 1.5-1.8 oz. That's not a small difference, it's less than half of what is advertised. I've brought this up multiple times and specifically asked them to make sure I'm receiving the advertised portion. Each time, I've been assured that the serving is 5-5.5 oz, but when I get home and weigh it, it's still under 2 oz. After this happening three separate times, I felt like I needed to say something. I really enjoy this restaurant, which makes it even more disappointing. If you advertise and charge customers for a 5 oz portion of fish, they should actually receive something close to 5 oz. Great food and great service, but consistently receiving 1.5-1.8 oz when you're paying for an advertised 5-5.5 oz portion feels incredibly misleading and needs to be addressed. read more

It is a taco stand, so let's not get carried away, but doing something simple well is something harder to find than it should be. This time I just had a pair of carbe asada tacos. They were a little small, a side dish or maybe a 3rd taco is needed for bigger appetites. The Taco Stand originated in San Diego, and made its way to Orange County in 2019. This location is in the Orange Circle next to Snooze AM Eatery. I tried their Shrimp Burrito $10.50. The service was good and our food came out quickly. The only thing about the shrimp burrito is it did not come with any beans or rice, just shrimp and cabbage, but the chipotle sauce was good. I look forward to coming back and trying their variety of tacos and quesadillas. This place has a straightforward menu with good food. They also have a salsa bar with condiments for your food. I might just be a girl from the Midwest but this place has ruined all other tacos for me. Everything is made to order, including the freshly pressed buttery soft tortillas, so the line can extend out the door. During the weekends it's super busy, and seating can get *very* limited. Ambiance is casual and lively, lots of families and folks getting lunch while shopping or grabbing a weeknight dinner. I have not had anything else other than the tacos here, but I can and will speak for the tacos and I think they are truly some of the best around. I've tried the carne asada, al pastor, pollo asado, mushroom, and baja tacos and all are excellent. My personal favorites are the al pastor and mushroom. The al pastor has a slight crisp that is so satisfying and the textures are all *perfect* together. I love the unique mushroom one, it's a nice meatless option. The fresh churros are also not to be slept on, super warm and soft and served with condensed milk to dip in. Delicious. There's a self-serve salsa bar where you can try a variety of sauces from mild to spicy and get your own limes; I love the salsa verde and creamy cilantro salsa! The line moves slowly because the cups are small and there's only one bar, but you can stock up on your sauces while you wait for your order. I prefer the tacos over the burritos here, and specifically love their al pastor and carne asada. The chicken tacos are great too, and so is the nopal tacos. For burritos, you can't go wrong with the California burrito. They have an amazing salsa bar with a lot of different varieties and heat levels. I first discovered The Taco Stand during my time in San Diego and the quality has not changed. The last time I visited this specific location was during COVID and I had high expectations from that visit and this visit lived up to them. I normally go for the pastor but I was craving asada, so I went with the carne asada burrito. The meat quality is insanely good and for the price point, I couldn't ask for more. There's no rice, which I loved since it's a filler ingredient, and it already came with sauce inside. There really isn't a need for salsa but it's fun to change up the flavor every few bites. I also had a bite of the California burrito and I was surprised by how different the flavor profile was despite it just having a few additional ingredients: fries, cheese, and sour cream. The meat flavor was masked by all of these so I couldn't appreciate it as much. That said, it's still good depending on what you're looking for. It was busy when we went on a Sunday night, since all the tables were full and we waited about 10 minutes to order. However, the crowd came in waves because by the time our food was ready, about 25 minutes later, the crowd died down and we were able to get counter seats. They are super efficient with the orders, which we saw firsthand from our seats. As for parking, street parking is available right in front, which we were lucky to find. read more

I've walked by this place for years but never stopped in to eat... talk about regrets!!! The menu has all the classic Mexican hits and everything was delicious. The line was long but moved quickly. The cashier was incredibly helpful and didn't seem to mind our crazy large order, with many modifications for picky children, and some items to eat in (my wife and I) and to go (our kids and their friends). We had fun watching the assembly line while we waited -- from pressing tortillas to cooking meat to final assembly. Everything is made in house. The food -- amazing. I was a little underwhelmed by my al pastor taco, but it was still good. My Cali burrito was top notch. Churros were ridiculously good and way easier than waiting at a churro truck in Santa Ana. The fries had shrimp, carne asada, guacamole, cheese, chipotle sauce on top of fries. The fries were delicious, the shrimp and carne asada were cooked to perfection. I'm sure the place is clean and such when you enter firstly when the establishment is opened. When we got there, it was a full house. (Mind you we came at dinner time). You know it gets down for real when it's full and you have people coming and going, because you can order to go. The full house didn't bother me. That shows me that the food here is satisfactory. Also we didn't ave to wait long for a table. We found one and while waiting visited the salsa bar. We waited about 10 min for our food because again the amount of people there. I liked the set up and decorations of this establishment. The chairs and tables reminded me of Mexico near my grandparents hometown. We would go into town and go to hole-in-the-wall restaurants and the tables and chairs were the same set up. I laughed and I'm happy it brought back those good memories of my grandparents. Back to the food part, I had ordered three tacos de carne asada, with cilantro and onions. The tortillas are handmade and the meat was perfectly seasoned! The tacos are Tijuana Style as in, I comes with guacamole with no extra cost. The tacos are medium sized so 3 was perfect for me to eat. They also have a salsa bar which is always great because you can get whichever type of salsa (mild to hottest) to get without having the server guess what you'd like.
