FOOD POISONING! AVOID! So I hadn't been here in a while and right when I arrived I got a bad feeling since this place looked dirtier than before and I wish I'd have listened to my gut when later that day I was sick on the toilet with food poisoning! I'd seen the main chef walk in and out of the building, touching the door handles & other things and not washing his hands before continuing to cooking, and the other cook was on his phone and touching all this other stuff and not washing his hands, and I should have just left!!!! but I stayed (dumb!) since normally I frequent dives a lot - I love Mexican food - I eat it at least once a week if not more! and I eat Mexican food at gas stations, all sorts of grimey places, everywhere so I'm not fussy - (but there's a difference between divey and dirty and here was dirty!) and then I regretted it since before it was shame it used to be good here. I've been coming here for over 15 years, and the food is amazing and menu is actually quite more than just tacos. Tacos here are large, not necessarily street tacos style and the salsa/sides bar is huge so you can top off however you like. Very customizable! Quesadillas, burritos you name it and it's amazing here and it's so fresh. You have several meats to choose from and I highly recommend the carne asada. Service is quick and they have a big dining area that's like a covered patio feel on the side. Parking can be pretty tight but this is really a place that's worth a little walk. I hadn't eaten here in a long time ans decided to stop by for lunch. I had the asada Quesadilla lunch special today and it wasn't very good. $12 which is reasonable, but it came with a small drink. The Quesadilla didn't have much flavor and the meat seemed bland and wasn't that filling. Seems like this place isn't what it used to be. I don't plan on going back anytime soon. read more

I've eaten here for almost 30 years now. Yes, you heard it right. That was when the Original Taco Factory was still under a different ownership. Lynn is the current owner. She bought the business many years back, she said. We used to use their catering service when I was at my previous firm. Lynn's husband always delivered the food on time. Our office staff loved their tacos and the quesadillas. Stopped by today to pick up some tacos for dinner. Their salsa bar is very fresh and constantly replenished throughout the day. Of course, I forgot to snap some photos before I left. Just realized that as I drove off. The Original Taco Factory never failed me. Delicious as ever. The steak is very lean, which I really like. We do not like corn tortillas so I get them with flour tortillas. They follow instructions exactly as ordered. Only drawback is their parking. Haven't been here for a while. I remember this place used to be a hit. Crowded any day of the week. My mom was in town and wanted to meet for dinner so we settled here. We remembered how tasty it was. Today I ordered the torta de asada. It comes with cheese , guac, lettuce and order of side of fries. She got the enchilada , (I think / see image). I was disappointed, my mom paid so I had to pretend like it and eat it. I think the meat sits out all day and just gets reheated. The meat was old and tasted raw. The kind of taste when you bite into an undercooked burger and you get that smell of rotten flesh? Wasn't pleasant . The toppings were ok.. they have a salad bar but I don't think they tend to it for hours. Taste was bland , I asked my mom's how was her plate? The enchilada , she said it was so so. The only good thing here were the fries ... I don't think we will come back here again. I like my food fresh tasting . The price was not worth it for 1 enchilada and 1 torta. Over $30 bucks . Nah.. could have settled with a 7-11 hot dog drink and a bag of air (chips). The meat could have been fresh. The orders are fast. My family decided to try the food from this place. This was our first time. The tacos were very dry no sauce, no lettuce, no cheese just the meat you selected for the tacos. The sauce selections were very small only red sauce. The green sauce was non existent. Only hot sauce no mild sauce. The other food products were alright. The portion was generous, and the carne asada was perfectly seasoned and tender. They have a small condiment bar offering a variety of fresh toppings like roasted jalapeños, cilantro, limes, onions, pickled carrots, radishes, and a selection of salsas ranging from mild to hot. Sorry if this review isn't that great, I wrote it sitting on the toilet. The food was alright, maybe something was wrong with my order, I really don't know. I ordered a chorizo and egg burrito like around 5pm and my stomach doesn't agree with me. I finished eating by 7pm and I feel horrible now that it's almost 11pm at night. Maybe the eggs or chorizo might be expired but I don't recommend ordering it here. I've had food poisoning before and this isn't that bad, just sweating on my toilet and my stomach kinda hurts. My mom ordered food and she's fine, good thing because we only have one toilet in the house. I haven't vomited so it's not that bad. I took a picture of the food, let me know if there is something wrong with my order, but I think it's fine. I also had a root beer, maybe that's the reason why I'm on the toilet. This place made our order less than 15 minutes, the service is not bad, but it still has me on the toilet. No clue, I order this stuff often and love spicy food. read more

I've always been so fond of this hidden gem my friend showed me. I love getting the carne asada burrito but quite frankly all their food is great. The meat is very well seasoned and the flavor is all there. There's also a condiment bar that's loaded with salsas and lime and all the good stuff. It was my first time eating here as an adult. Fun fact, I came on a field trip many years ago during a Spanish class field trip in middle school. Fast-forward a couple decades later, I came here with my coworker and we really loved the food. We each had a burrito and we enjoyed it so much that we talked about bringing our families here. I've been coming here since I was a child. The food has always been on point. Service is also always excellent. This time around we decided to finally try the chimichanga and got a small chicken quesadilla. The chimichanga is massive! You can choose what type of meat you want in your chimichanga, and it also comes with choice of regular pico or spicy pico. We went with the pollo asada and spicy pico. On its own, it is already a flavor bomb. Adding some of their in house made guacamole, sour cream, and some of their salsa; takes it to the next level. The pollo asada quesadilla was a decent size for being the small. It has a lot of meat and comes with a side of sour cream and guacamole and some chips. Judging from all the positive reviews I thought I'd hit the jackpot in finding an awesome taco/burrito joint in town. Perhaps my expectations were initially set too high from all the built up excitement, but overall, our experience here was quite the disappointment. You basically go in to place and pay for your order, gather your utensils, salsas at the salsa bar......which was actually quite good and very fresh tasting. Otherwise, for those wishing to dine in, there's an atttached covered side pation with some picnic style tables to enjoy your meal.....where your order will be brought out to you when ready. It's hard to write a negative review about this place as it seems to down to earth and friendly, the prices not too bad as compared to other places arund these parts, but the food just didn't match my expectations.....unfortunately. So, I ordered the shredded chicken burrito with pinto beans for myself, and my wife order the veggie burrito. Lets start with the one positive....I really enjoyed the chips and small order of guac, and this all went really well with the various salsa sauces (with different levels of spiciness) very well. The chips were thick enough to easily scoop up and hold some salsa, and thin enough so as not to break your teeth when biting on them. The guac and salsa sauces were not salty too. As for my chicken burrito, the chicken tasted a bit tough with an overly wet drench of juices with every bite.....I prefer my shredded chicken to be moist and tender, and not wet. Otherwise, the burrito was ok. My wife's veggie burrito was basically a blend of rice and beans with some tomato salsa inside. Unfortunately, after one bite she said it was not good. I took a bite and agreed.....the pinto bean/rice mixture seemed to have hard bits that stuck in our teeth. Disappointed with her burrito, my wife took it back inside to see what the lady in charge could do about it. My wife finally decided on a grilled veggie burrito instead and a fish taco. I don't remember whether we were charged for the replacement orders. Anyway, my wife said that her grilled veggie burrito was much better!...I never got to try it. As for the grilled fish taco, it's quite boring until you toss some salsa sauce on it, then it became much more palatable. Glad we finally got to try this place.....disappointed that it turned out to be a bit of a let down. read more

They don't have much seating indoors, but there's plenty of covered outdoor seating to accommodate y'all! Also, czech out this salsa bar! They got self-serve salsa, and you can get whichever one you want! Different spice levels of pico de gallo? Yeah, sign me up! I ordered a carne asada plate, and chat, can we clip this? This is one of the best carne asadas I've ever tasted in my life. Oh my god, the tenderness is insane. I don't think I could possibly give more praise to the cook on this steak. I had no problem masticating this moisty morsel of meat! It came with a bunch of other stuff too! Like rice, beans, and some tortilla chips. This alone should be enough to get you here. Me, on the other hand, I got a tried and true classic, the al pastor burrito. The burrito is the perfect hand-held food, and these guys do it pretty darn good. Been consistently coming here and can say it's one of the better Mexican restaurants. The service is spectacular and the workers make sure everything is satisfactory. Plenty of seating outside so good for bigger parties & if you would rather eat inside they have enough seating. Plenty of sides at their bar from pickled veggies to different sauces. The food is fantastic ... enchiladas, tacos, rice and bean sides, and wet burritos are among our favorites with generous portions of meats/fillings. I had the lunch special today at this busy Mexican fast food restaurant. Today the white board said it was a taco enchilada plate for $12 and included a drink. I chose the carne asada taco and shredded beef enchilada with green sauce. The green sauce was spicy! The two items were accompanied by rice and beans which were both several notches better than many sit down Mexican places. Plus chips and sour cream and some shredded lettuce. The taco was two corn tortilla wrapped around about a cup of delicious carne asada. Great value! The enchilada was a shredded beef taco laying on its side with cheese and green sauce on top. The shredded beef had excellent flavor and I think all the heat came from the spicy (too spicy for me) salsa verde on top. Excellent value and quick service. The self serve salsa bar has plenty of mild and spicy sauces and veggies to grab. I like the outdoor seating, too, but something has to be done to provide bathrooms for paying customers. read more

The tacos had a ton of meat and the chips were nice and tasty, but that was the stop of what we liked. We got the chicken, carnitas, carne asada, pastor and pescado. They were all ok but a little under seasoned. And we really needed a lot of salsa and toppings to get it to an enjoyable point. We had the carnitas and then a chorizo breakfast burrito. The carnitas burrito was bigger than the chorizo breakfast burrito. Both were delicious! I've been coming to this spot ever since I moved to Tustin and at one point, came here multiple times every week (to the detriment of my diet plans, but so hard to resist!). My go-to order is the famous burrito plate with carne asada, spicy pico de gallo, and pinto beans. I think the refried beans here are the absolute best! I also enjoy that the staff here has remained consistent over the entire time I've been coming here, it's always nice to see a familiar face! Didn't know what to expect but it was all surprisingly good, I got the two taco plate with carne asada and fish and my husband got three tacos:carnitas, el pastor and carne asada.. I would say the amount of protein they give you is very generous!! The fish lacked seasoning and was bland... the el pastor my husband's says was also underwhelming. The carne asada fries were decent, I think they would've been better if the fries were fresh.. You can tell that we stale/old fries ... The tacos are served as just meat and tortillas with a self serve salsa and condiment based on the side. These things are loaded with enough meat for two tacos. The salsa bar has a variety of options from red and green salsas, pico de gallo, pickled veggies, etc. The carne fries were loaded with toppings, although the fries were a little stale - still decent. The two taco plate came with beans and rice - great black beans but the rice was dried out. Were these the best tacos I've ever had? Not even close.
