Bread pudding

This place is not only local history but an historic experience. Been around for over 120yr and four generations of ownership. Menu is so intense and lots of choices. Started with salad 1905. Served family style and made right at your table. Then went into the Tapas. So many good ones to choose from. We had the deviled crab croquettes then Jamon croquettes, special - lobster flat bread, shrimp Al Ajillo. And for dessert we tried the bread pudding. Oh my goodness these were amazing we also had their amazing brandy sangria with family wine. Wow!!!! Then also had to try the family owned Sauvignon Blanc wine. Amazing flavor and so smooth. Anything we ate or drank was unbelievable tasting. Then the service. Nothing but the best!!!!

Wow!!!! This place is phenomenal! I wish I could give it a sixth star. The waiter was fabulous, quick, friendly and very informative. We had the pitcher of mojitos, which was refreshing and every bit of what a mojito should be. Bonus: they make it right in front of you. Their salad and bread were fantastic. The bread had a great crunch, perfect! The salad and dressing were very good too, very fresh. The mahi mahi with crab was the best mahi mahi I have ever had. It was citrusy and flavorful, cooked perfectly. The mango upside down cake was really good (could have used a little more ice cream), however the flavor was great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is HUGE (does not look it from the outside).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything was clean and so beautifully decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Wow!!! This is DEFINITELY someplace I highly recommend trying at least once. It is pricey but SO worth it, especially for special occasions.

Work around the corner from here and been having a lot of work meetings. Well this is the best place to wine and dine clients. Been here several times now and each time has been better and better! Service is amazing. First class in training and performance. All around a well oiled machine that is on top of everything. But to be expected as they have been around since 1905! The food is beyond amazing I've had the Cuban, chicken and rice, steak and the famous 1905 salad. Everything has been fantastic in flavor and portions. Great spot again for work meetings lunch or dinners, anniversary, dates, everything all events. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now for theme, obviously it's a Cuban restaurant so very Cuban/Spanish themed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now the fun part about this place is the outside looks nothing like the inside. It looks bigger inside honestly as each room has its own theme.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you get a moment to look around do so as it's fascinating!

Great experience! We love their sangria and the traditional salad. The Cuban bread and butter was so good too. I got the half and half which is a great option. The Cuban sandwich is good but it's a lot when you've already eaten a ton of Cuban bread. The chicken croquette tapa was delicious and great for picky eaters but we were super crazy about the black bean cakes. Beautiful atmosphere and great service.

What can I say that hasn't been said by thousands already? Columbia is a "try before you die" restaurant! Famous for its size (1,700 capacity) and its age (it opened in 1905), Columbia is world-famous and well-known even by non-Floridians, such as myself. Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to dine here in March 2026 with a large group of friends before we left the next day for a cruise. I went off menu and ordered myself a Cubano sandwich ($15). Normally, the cubano is not available during the dinner service. This was very good and I can see why it is a must-try dish here. I shouldn't have caffeine after 2pm but I indulged myself and got a cafe con leche as my drink ($5). This was the only sort of disappointment of the evening. The espresso was nothing special and tasted of nothing. It took a while for us to get everything but there were 13 of us and our waitress worked very hard. I didn't order their famous salad, but I had a few bites of it, thanks to a friend, and LOVED it! The wait staff make it right in front of you as well. Fancy! The flamenco show was delightful, but it isn't free. 10 dollars are added to everyone's checks at the end. You "can't" record it or take pictures of it either, hence why I only grabbed one photo. The interior and the ambiance are a 10/10. I'm a nosy nelly, and love to people watch. I was so dang happy to be here and just observe everything and everyone for two hours. I was enchanted and enthralled the entire time the Tampa Bay Flamenco dancers performed. My mouth was agape and my jaw was on the floor. Service, as to be expected in a VERY popular high-end restaurant like this, was a 10/10. Our waitress, Ana, was very professional and provided us immaculate service. The waiters wear tuxes and suits, providing a very formal atmosphere. I noticed most of the waiters were older, which means that they probably have been working here for many years. I didn't buy anything from their gift shop - I didn't have a way to bring anything I bought home - but it looked good, well-stocked, and reasonably priced! I would absolutely love to come back to Columbia again!

My husband took us here for Mother's Day brunch and it was fantastic! Our reservation was for 12:15, when we arrived the waiting space by the host stand was PACKED, there were even people waiting outside. Thankfully, we checked in and were seated within 5 mins of arriving. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the outside you don't really see how big this restaurant is, but on the inside it is so big and spacious and beautifully decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]For how busy it was, it still felt like an intimate time with our family for lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the ropa vieja, it was delicious - highly recommend trying it. My mom ordered the empanadas and a soup (I can't remember which soup) - she enjoyed all of it. The kids menu has good options as well, especially for my picky eater. The service was phenomenal, our waitress was very nice and walked us through the menu. She was also very attentive the entire time and had a great attitude. We can't wait to go back!

Our first time at Columbia and def won't be the last! Everything was amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I requested to sit in the Patio dining area, which was fulfilled, and it was very pretty with a relaxing vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was top notch, and we enjoyed seeing the sangria and the 1905 salad being prepared table side. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh. They even packed our leftovers for us, which you no longer experience that often - nice touch!

So since my last visit last year - I have returned at least once a month! Helloooo it's become a favorite staple to have lunch with clients, coworkers or just friends! It has such a great atmosphere and each time that I go I get a different room so it feels like I'm dining at a different restaurant. I am a creature of habit so I'm almost always getting the same thing but last time I went we had the croquettas de pollo and deviled crabs! Delicious delicious! Just to update from my last visit: Parking - there's plenty in the front, the back and the streets as well. Reservations - Make them! The place gets packed during lunch and dinner. Night live dancers are a must see! Service: Off the charts! They are very attentive, quick on their feet and they make sure your dining experience is superb. So tip them well. Drinks are delicious especially the Sangria! Get it and thank me later!

Finally made it to Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is beautiful, and you can really feel the history.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I loved that it's still run by the fifth generation of the founding family, it makes the experience feel even more special. I ordered the famous 1905 Salad and the Chicken Salteado, and both were fresh and delicious. Everything we had was excellent. The only thing that surprised me, as a Miami Cuban, was not seeing Cuban sodas like Jupiña or Materva on the menu. Not a big deal, just something I expected. Overall, a great meal, great service, and a place I'd happily visit again.

The ambiance is incredible. The photos definitely will not do it justice

A true gem of the entire Tampa Bay Area! The service is fantastic, our server told us a little of the history of this restaurant (Babe Ruth renting out a room every time he was in town, Marilyn Monroe eating there, etc) but he was also great at making sure we were taken care of. The food, from the complimentary bread to the famous Cuban sandwich to the Tres Amigos Churros was exquisite. Every element clearly has thought put into it so that it flows together from the homemade plantain chips with the Cuban sandwich to the bread and the amount of mustard used. Nothing could improve anything that we had and I can't recommend the Cuban sandwich or the Tres Amigos highly enough! You have to try them for yourself. The prices are also quite reasonable. You definitely get your money's worth! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is absolutely stunning! You should see this if you're in town. We loved it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Kids also fit in quite nicely thanks to the way the restaurant is run, it's very friendly and not overly quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can't think of any better blessing for Tampa than for this same family to continue running this restaurant for another 120 years!

Spanish Bean Soup
Christina H.

I have been coming to Columbia my whole life but usually in St Augustine location. I have finally made it to the Ybor City original location. I always get the 1905 salad either as my entree or as at least a side. Don't skip it. I finally tried the Spanish bean soup which also was delicious. You also get your own personal loaf of bread which always is the best warm crusty bread you'll ever taste. The atmosphere is beautiful and the service is very friendly and attentive. I always make a reservation ahead of time because no matter the time of day it is always pretty popular!

Ask the Community - Columbia Restaurant

What attire is recommended as we are on vacation and have shorts and polo shirts?

It's fine to wear shorts and polos. You can wear jeans and a tanktop too. Pretty casual

Is there valet?

No there's a free parking lot across the street

Does restaurant have tesla chargers?

yes. There are two in front and at least one J1772

Is there handicap parking?

There is handicap parking, it is located behind the restaurant and across the street where they have dedicated parking for the restaurant.

Does The Columbian in Ybor City have outside seating? It says on this app that they do but I didn't think that they did.

No they do not

How are they with accommodating larger parties?

I would highly recommend making a reservation. They had many large groups when we went but the host definitely frowned upon those coming in without a reservation.

We were planning on going for our 1 year anniversary. It would be a Sunday. I hear only two rooms are open one being the bar area. I'm unsure of the other room but does anyone have experience dining on a Sunday night? We want romantic & quiet.

Definitely make sure to call and make a reservation and ask to be placed in one of the rooms that would have the ambience your looking for. If you are in the bar area it is always more crowded with more people & music so this area is not "romantic &…

When does their lunch hours end?

The lunch menu is available from 11 until 4. The prices are the same as the dinner menu and you can get anything from the dinner menu at any time. The lunch menu is just shortened and there are more sandwiches at lunch time. They have live music…

What is the schedule or frequency of the flamenco dancing?

Fridays & Saturdays 7pm & 9pm when we went there was an $8.00 per person cover charge

Does this place have a kids menu?

Yes. It does

Is there a better seating area than others to request for reservations? Group of 4 of us planning on going when in Tampa

We kinda like the main room, tge one as you walk in. The bar area can be very noisy. The room to the right isn't bad but they tend to put families with kids in there.

I see that you have vegan options. Could you tell me exactly what those items are?

the menu can

Was told to check this place out on my upcoming trip, and was thinking of doing lunch since I'll be arriving in Tampa at that time. It's fancier looking than I imagined, will I be extremely under dressed coming from the airport?

There's nothing fancy about the dress code. Wear whatever you're comfortable in. But no socks with sandals... Not their rule, but just a general life rule.

Is it within walking distance from the Teco Streetcar?

Yes. It's on 7th St. So it may be a few blocks.

The COLUMBIA (not Colombia) restaurant =)

Would children 7 and 5 be welcome? Or be able to see Flameco show?

Yes, the restaurant will welcome children that age however keep in mind the lights are dimmed & it's loud. Most young kids don't do that scenario well. Also, the Sangria is flowing so it's inevitable adults will always not curb their behaviors just…

I've only had Argentinian-style milanesa before, and I can easily say I liked the Teresita style better. The marinara sauce on the milanesa brings enough acidity to cut through the grease from the fried meat -- the meat is thin and crispy, but not at all dry. The fries and yellow rice make the meal an absolute steal based on the amount of food you get. My friend had the fried fish, which looked delicious -- excited to try it myself next time. Sat at the outdoor bar, and received prompt service. My mojito was tall, well muddled (if Columbia Cafe can't get a mojito right, who can?) and had all the right components, just a bit too much ice. Offspring's strawberry daiquiri was also quite refreshing. We didn't realize there's an entire other bar and seating area (air conditioned!) up on the second floor museum level - the bar up there looks quite ornate and fits in with the museum-oriented atmosphere.

My wife should have added 'bring them together' but she didn't and the server didn't bother to ask so the empanadas came out and everything else came out 15 minutes later. My wife had a cocktail and the bill was $60.20. Issues to fix: 1)I ordered a Coca Cola, $4.00 and in 92 degree weather it melts in 5 minutes. We were there for an hour and not one time did she ask if I'd like a refill. 2)When she made the 1905 table side she literally 'dropped' a handful of salad ON THE FLOOR between my wife's and my seat......she kind of chuckled, gave us our salads and walked away. She literally left the SALAD ON THE FLOOR THE ENTIRE MEAL! During the course of our meal probably 20 employees walked by and never bothered to pick it up. That in itself was the epitome of laziness and complete lack of respect to the customer. Our bill was $60.20 and I tipped $12 which normally I'm a 30% tipper and I could kick myself for giving her 20%. She deserved zero. I know I will never get a response from management but do you think I will ever come back? Nyet.
