Every work day, I sit at the same intersection. I always turn east. Today, I turned west... and that has made all the difference, since I found Ricopan. It's in a stand alone building, right next to a large apartment complex. The turn is very easy to miss on your first visit, even with GPS. But once you've been there, you'll never miss it again. Your tastebuds will lead you home. When I got there, early on a Thursday morning, the place was humming. There are no tables or booths-it's take out only... and people were whizzing in-then whizzing out with big boxes or bags. That was a very good sign. But soon, I didn't notice the other people (cue the music montage)... I was mesmerized-transfixed, even... by all the goodies. Everything from delicate coconut pastries to corn casserole to fruit tarts/tortes, to chicken empanadas, to fancy cakes to big, puffy/fluffy cheese loaves... all beautifully displayed and labeled. It was a feast for the senses. I couldn't stop taking photos! I also couldn't decide what to get, but finally blurted out something about the corn casserole and quickly added the coconut cocada and pan bolo (guava). I am happy to report that everything tasted as good as it looked. As the 80s ballad declared: "the search is over"... I have found my favorite bakery, I love that it has both sweet and savory items. I will be back again and again. But not just for the food. It's the service! The woman helping me was absolutely delightful. She was warm and friendly and helpful and full of good suggestions. She was sunshine. That's something you can't put in a display case or add to a recipe.. Ricopan, you're a star! I'll be back! P.s. private parking lot-fair prices-very clean and they also sell coffee-maybe other drinks, too.

I drive past Ricopan every day on my commute and finally decided to stop in and try it. When I saw the label for an arepa with cheese and egg, I had to order it. I have never had an arepa with egg before. Girl at the counter asked if I want salsa or the tomato ketchup; when I hesitated she kindly offered to give me both, and both were great! The salsa was fresh with a nice kick of spice, and the tomato ketchup was flavorful and creamy. I enjoyed both on my arepa. It is on the pricier side compared to the baked goods at six dollars, but it is worth it as a satisfying savory treat. I highly recommend it and would definitely return for this item. I also got the Rosca de Queso and the Quesito. The Quesito was a solid choice, a flaky sweet pastry with a smooth cheese filling inside. I especially loved the Rosca de Queso. The chewy texture was exactly what I wanted and hit all the right spots. I would love to have these as a bread staple at home. Based on what I tried this time, I will definitely be back to sample more items.

After passing by this place for over a year, I finally decided to see what it was about. Everything looked delicious and it was super hard to choose. They were super busy but still extremely kind and attentive to all their customers. This meant a lot as a first impression. I ended up getting a turkey, egg, and cheese sandwich and a chocolate croissant. Both were absolutely delicious! You could tell they were made with real ingredients as well. I look forward to this being my go-to sandwich shop.

PHENOMENAL, period. This Colombian spot is serving some of the tastiest Pasteries and sandwiches in all of Florida. All summer I've been trying different bakeries and this is hands-down the best. This Cubano sandwich deserves a holiday. OMG, it was perfect! The bread, the ingredients, the size, perfect! And we loved everything else we got. The service was friendly and fast as well. Top notch spot all around. Cannot wait to go back! Will I see YOU there?!!!

INCREDIBLE Colombian inspired bakery with a Latin fusion! This place is absolutely delicious, authentic, and you can find most of your bakery favorites at this spot. From delicious guava and cheese pastries (WHICH ARE ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS) - they use the freshest Colombian style guava - to pan de bono, buñuelos, empanadas, and more! Highly recommend to try the empanada dulce (filled with guava) which is made with pan de bono dough: it's like if pan de bono and guava and cheese had a baby. SO GOOD. You can also find Venezuelan cocosette and a few fun faves. Absolutely incredible bakery with great quality goods. I'm still dreaming with their guava and cheese perfection - authentic, fresh, delicious and amazing.

A sample of all the desserts - I didn't get a chance to take a pic of each one as people took quickly. I'll do better next time.

What a great little joint - if you're driving down Causeway too fast you'll miss the turn into this quaint spot. The park is small and tight, but was able to find a spot. I went first thing in the morning as I was bringing yummy treats to the office. There was quite a line inside but it did go by really fast. The people were super friendly and spoke English for those non speaking Spanish. I ordered up to 12 different pastries and while they were all delish and scrumptious- the pictures no way did them justice. Sorry for that. Almost forgot I did try their coffee - great cafe con Leche with just the right amount of sugar. Here's what I ordered, all was fresh and we each took small slices to try all. Guava pastries - Delish Must Have! Strawberry and pineapple danishes - So yummy Banana pudding - Good Flan - Delicious Chocolate chip cookies - HUGE and soooo soft Tiramisu - Da Best Some sort chocolate cake - wasn't a huge fan but the group ate it up. Sugar Donut - Dunkin Who?!? These were so soft and great tasting

Was here earlier on a Dash run. Ended up buying my own pastries cuz they look that damn good!! I was also weirded out cuz this place been under construction for a couple years. So now it looks like a soup of shops were finally added to the property. Bigger parking lot also.

Absolutely solid Colombian bakery. We had a long day out in the middle of nowhere (Brandon) and needed a tasty treat. Enter Ricopan, we stopped in and were able to get service right away. We got a Guava & Cheese pastry $2.59 Medium Cafe con Leche $2.50 G&C Empanada $3.25, and Bonuelos $1.69. Everything was amazing, would totally recommend.

The pastries were absolutely delicious! I wanted more but it was only an appetizer until we had dinner. My friend took me here and she picked out several options with pastries with and without meat. I loved them all.

Absolutely love this place, we stop by anytime we're in the Brandon area! The staff here truly is incredible, and always so welcoming. It gets really busy during the weekends, but quieter during the weekdays. Their fresh mango and wild berry juices are so good, and they have the best breakfast sandwiches on toasted Cuban bread. The sandwiches are pretty big, so my husband and I can usually split one between us and it's more than enough! I also crave their sweet cornbread with cheese (can't remember what it's actually called) all the time. I send any of my friends and family here when they're in the area as well - highlyyy recommend!

Arepa con Queso, Papa Rellena. The papa rellena might be one of the most delicious, nostalgic, loving foods I've ever tried.

This place is absolutely incredible. I've only been to the Causeway location, but the food is always on point and the people behind the counter are always super friendly and helpful. I've only tried a couple of things so far, but everything has been so so delicious. I really like the empanadas, arepa con queso, the papa rellena (literally might be one of the best things I've eaten in my life no lie) in the guava and cheese pastry. I've only tried these 4 things but I won't stop until I've eaten the entire menu after trying this papa rellena/arepa combo. You really need to check this place out the food and the people deserve all the praise oh and service is super quick so you're in and out like that! Enjoy my friends :)o

I enjoyed this place. It's small and unassuming with no real place to eat and drink here. This is more of a take out spot which has some high and other decent prices but the food is nice. We ordered a little of everything and the staff was so nice and patient with our order. Wait time can be a bit high during peak hours, but I am in love with their pan de bono. It's worth the visit if you are in the area.

Wow! I was missing a taste of home and found Ricopan. I parked and walked-in and was immediately greeted. Quick note: Ricopan is take-out only! I bought an array of things which included a bacon, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich, two Cubanos, two empanadas, two croquettes and guava pastries. Hands down, Ricopan has the best Cuban sandwich in Tampa. My boyfriend and I were impressed and amazed! We will definitely be coming here again just for the sandwich! The other items we ordered were so good too! From the breakfast sandwich to the empanadas, everything was a hit. Overall, I'll be back! Highly recommend.

Two Nights in a Row and Even Better the Second Time!…read more This was my second night in a row at Columbia Restaurant, and that alone should tell you how much I enjoyed it! I'm attending the Connect Conference and after eating here last night, I told a few friends how good the food was. I even told Casey, the Assistant Manager, that I was going to spread the word. Well... OMG. Apparently I spread the word a little TOO well because everyone showed up tonight! My reservation didn't get made, so I headed to the bar, and it ended up being a great experience. There was only one seat available at the bar, so we made it work with one person at the bar and the rest of us at a nearby table. That's when we had the pleasure of meeting Chris, the bartender. He was AMAZING! Even though we weren't all technically sitting at the bar, Chris took care of our entire group and never missed a beat. He was friendly, attentive, welcoming, and made us feel like taking care of us was no trouble at all. Great food brought me back for a second night, but service like Chris provided is what makes you want to keep coming back. Thank you, Casey I'm sorry I missed you and Chris, for another great evening at Columbia. And apparently, when I tell people a restaurant is good, they listen!

Still run by descendants of the founder. We had a Saturday 7pm reservation and the place was packed (seats around 1,700 people, per our server), but we were seated only 5-6 minutes late and service never felt strained despite the crowd. Started with warm, authentic Cuban bread and butter, then split the Original "1905" Salad -- tossed and served tableside, with Romano cheese, garlic dressing, ham, tomatoes, lettuce, and Swiss cheese. It's basically an entree on its own. The empanadas were also excellent: light crust, extremely flavorful filling, juices running with every bite. For my entree I had the Red Snapper "Adelita" -- grilled, topped with hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, served over their signature yellow rice. Perfectly cooked fish, very flavorful toppings. For dessert, we compared the key lime pie against the white chocolate bread pudding. The pie was well-made -- perfect texture, perfect graham cracker crust, light raspberry sauce -- but a touch light on the tart key lime punch I look for. The bread pudding was the better dish: rich, decadent, excellent. Finished with proper Cuban espresso. The menu here is enormous -- expect to need multiple visits to make a dent in it. Everything we tried was excellent. Highly recommend, but book ahead on weekends; even with 1,700 seats, this place fills up.

The famous historic 1905 salad originally created in 1905 was made table side by Tossing 4 cups of chopped iceberg lettuce, 1/2 cup julienned ham, 1/2 cup julienned Swiss cheese, 1 ripe chopped tomato, and 1/2 cup green Spanish olives.
