Every work day, I sit at the same intersection. I always turn east. Today, I turned west... and that has made all the difference, since I found Ricopan. It's in a stand alone building, right next to a large apartment complex. The turn is very easy to miss on your first visit, even with GPS. But once you've been there, you'll never miss it again. Your tastebuds will lead you home. When I got there, early on a Thursday morning, the place was humming. There are no tables or booths-it's take out only... and people were whizzing in-then whizzing out with big boxes or bags. That was a very good sign. But soon, I didn't notice the other people (cue the music montage)... I was mesmerized-transfixed, even... by all the goodies. Everything from delicate coconut pastries to corn casserole to fruit tarts/tortes, to chicken empanadas, to fancy cakes to big, puffy/fluffy cheese loaves... all beautifully displayed and labeled. It was a feast for the senses. I couldn't stop taking photos! I also couldn't decide what to get, but finally blurted out something about the corn casserole and quickly added the coconut cocada and pan bolo (guava). I am happy to report that everything tasted as good as it looked. As the 80s ballad declared: "the search is over"... I have found my favorite bakery, I love that it has both sweet and savory items. I will be back again and again. But not just for the food. It's the service! The woman helping me was absolutely delightful. She was warm and friendly and helpful and full of good suggestions. Found this gem while my husband was working in the area, and it has quickly become our go-to spot for café con leche, breakfast, sweet treats--you name it. It's a great mix of Colombian favorites with some Cuban classics like croquetas. Everything we've tried has been delicious. It is a little pricey, but then again, so is everything nowadays. I drive past Ricopan every day on my commute and finally decided to stop in and try it. When I saw the label for an arepa with cheese and egg, I had to order it. I have never had an arepa with egg before. Girl at the counter asked if I want salsa or the tomato ketchup; when I hesitated she kindly offered to give me both, and both were great! The salsa was fresh with a nice kick of spice, and the tomato ketchup was flavorful and creamy. I enjoyed both on my arepa. It is on the pricier side compared to the baked goods at six dollars, but it is worth it as a satisfying savory treat. I highly recommend it and would definitely return for this item. I also got the Rosca de Queso and the Quesito. The Quesito was a solid choice, a flaky sweet pastry with a smooth cheese filling inside. I especially loved the Rosca de Queso. The chewy texture was exactly what I wanted and hit all the right spots. I would love to have these as a bread staple at home. They were super busy but still extremely kind and attentive to all their customers. This meant a lot as a first impression. From delicious guava and cheese pastries (WHICH ARE ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS) - they use the freshest Colombian style guava - to pan de bono, buñuelos, empanadas, and more! What a great little joint - if you're driving down Causeway too fast you'll miss the turn into this quaint spot. The park is small and tight, but was able to find a spot. I went first thing in the morning as I was bringing yummy treats to the office. There was quite a line inside but it did go by really fast. The people were super friendly and spoke English for those non speaking Spanish. I ordered up to 12 different pastries and while they were all delish and scrumptious- the pictures no way did them justice. Sorry for that. Almost forgot I did try their coffee - great cafe con Leche with just the right amount of sugar. Here's what I ordered, all was fresh and we each took small slices to try all. Absolutely love this place, we stop by anytime we're in the Brandon area! The staff here truly is incredible, and always so welcoming. It gets really busy during the weekends, but quieter during the weekdays. Their fresh mango and wild berry juices are so good, and they have the best breakfast sandwiches on toasted Cuban bread. I absolutely love this bakery! I love closer to Orlando so this was a real treat, a hidden gem in Brandon, FL. Let me start by saying how clean and welcoming this bakery is when you walk in. Visiting my nephew in Tampa and he brought us here since it is one of his go to places. We got the guava bear claw, chicken empanada and a big thing with Portland some meat inside. So this place is around construction so it's very challenging to find! I think I've circled the area a few times just to find it located in between two tarped up fences. But the parking lot is large. The establishment is carry out only. There are no tables to sit down and enjoy your treats. There a refrigerated area with desserts inside. There's a variety of Tres Leches (regular and caramel) Tiramisu, large cakes, etc. then on your left hand side it's a full menu of what they have to offer. Then there a large display of assorted desserts for your choosing. I opted for the caramel Tres Leches cake since i was craving that. I also chose a sugar doughnut. The doughnut was very dry. I would not recommend that but the Tres Leches was delicious. Not too sweet. It satisfied my cravings. I got both items for less than $10. My friend told me their empanadas are delicious when they're fresh out the oven so I'll probably try that next time. Overall, I'll definitely go back for the Tres Leches. read more

This place has it all with great service, selection, freshness, and prices. I ordered some guava pastelitos, breakfast sandwiches, and cafe con leché to take home to the family. The pastelitos and cafe con leché was so on point. The breakfast sandwiches were cooked to order and served on Cuban bread. These are big enough to share. I love bread and pastries, so I couldn't pass on the opportunity to look up a good bakery in Tampa. Since I'm not from Tampa, it was a bit tricky to find the location, but you just have to keep an eye out for their sign. I absolutely loved this place. Every other morning we'd show up to pick up different items, but my favorite were the pistachio muffin, the mantecado yellow cake, and the empanadas. They were so mushy and delicious. I ordered two coffees, a loaf of bread, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches from here and they were delicious! All the ladies upfront were patient, and had a positive upbeat attitude. Ricopan is in a new building. I had no idea until yesterday. It's right next door. The old building is so so run down. This one is nice, modern, and open. The only bad thing is there are only two tables inside to sit at. There are high seats too which I don't even bother with. I'm too short. There are outside tables with no shade. I love their pan de bono, guava and cheese, and Colombian empanadas. They have arepas and sandwiches and coffee and drinks too, as well as other breads. So happy we came back! This bakery off of Causeway in Brandon was a real find for me a few years ago. They have since grown and moved to a newer building next door. I have ordered cakes as well as food here and never been disappointed. Today I purchased 8 Beef and 8 Chicken Empanadas. They were a big hit with my team at work.
