Great service and great food. I had the Pollo a la parilla for dinner. Great presentation and delicious flavors. The grilled chicken over sautéed onions and bell peppers was cooked perfectly and marinated so it was not dry. The pinto beans were just right, not overcooked or undercooked. Moist Mexican rice with sides of tasty guacamole and pico de Gallo. I'm from Whitby Island and just by chance my wife and I had dinner there tonight because when we drove by, there were tons of cars in the parking lot. My dad and I stopped here after coming to town to pick up a car. He said they had good lunch specials. Unfortunately we learned that they got rid of their regular lunch menu. Instead they now just have a daily lunch special you can get, otherwise you are spending full price for dinner sized items. I'm always searching for good Mole and Antojos has it. In fact, everything I've tried here is very good so I'm a little surprised by the 3.5 star rating. The staff is very helpful and friendly and has great suggestions about what to order too. The restaurant is comfortable and the Happy Hour is decent too. I'm going to post pictures of my Chicken Mole because I think it's some of the best I've ever had. The spice level is subtle and not overpowering. I like it since I could taste their Mole and enjoy it instead of it being too hot and just tasting the heat. I will be returning again for some of the other items on their menu that loook good including the Carne Asado. We had a nice time here and what I tried of the food has been excellent both times I visited. I'm definately going back for more. read more

LOVE this place. They were closed for some time and now they are open. The wait staff are attentive and this is one of the only restaurants that serve chips and salsa AND Bean Dip (which is soooooooo good!!!) for FREE! You can't even go wrong here when they do this already. The food is so fresh and delicious from their tortillas made on the spot, to everything else including drinks. I have come back and back again. It was our go-to spot for family dinners on 38th St. I want to start by giving credit to the general manager. He was professional and calm when I initially spoke with him about a recent incident, and I appreciated how he handled that first conversation. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was deeply disappointing and even harmful. We had ordered two burritos for lunch while working at a client's house on N Jackson Ave. As my father was finishing his burrito, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his mouth--like he had bitten into a rock. It turned out he had bitten into something hard that should have been filtered out before cooking. After speaking with the GM and his follow-up with the kitchen team, the conclusion was that it came from a bean stalk--something that ended up in my dad's food. As a result, my father--who's nearing his 50s--lost a tooth. Days passed, and we hadn't heard any follow-up from the GM. However, once we posted a Yelp review, the general manager reached out to us immediately. While we appreciated the response after the review, it's unfortunate that it took public feedback to prompt any real follow-up. We used to recommend this place to friends and family, but after this experience, we're seriously reconsidering that.... As of today's date 6/12/25 Today, the owner or franchise has refused to cover the dental bill for my hard-working father--which was all we asked for. This situation has caused not only physical pain but financial stress as well. We are now left with no choice but to seek legal counsel moving forward. read more

Went there with my partner before dinner rush and decided to sit in the restaurant section where there were 3 tables occupied with the ppl already eating. Got to our booth, put in drink orders. 4 ppl came in after us and were seated behind us. They got their drinks first. Weird cause we only ordered soda drinks and they had cocktails and shots. Whatever. Got our chips and salsa, which was great cause once our food order was in, it took almost 40 min to get our 3 fish tacos and burrito plate. But guess what? The ppl behind us got all their food within a regular/expected amount of time. Our drinks were gone by the time the food came and we couldn't get the chance to order a drink refill because the server rushed away once he set the plates in front of us. I have worked in hospitality and I know things can get fked behind the scenes. However, by having your customers wait without an explanation makes you look sloppy and rude. Our server was mostly non-existent and just a "hey my apologies, we're [insert excuse] so service may be a bit tardy" would be fine. So that's the service. Now the food. No. My partner had a burrito plate that was bland and sad looking and I had the 3 fish tacos which were unseasoned and really just an over-fried fish finger in a sad corn tortilla with some bland sauce on top sprinkled with some cabbage and tomatoes. The fish tasted gross and way too fishy so it prob pass expiration date. I mean, look at the picture! It was so sad looking I couldn't stop laughing. If you have never had Mexican food, sure go here. Only because any other Mexican restaurant afterwards will be mind blowing. Or if you can't handle any spice other than some salt, this place will be great for you. But really don't. This place is a diamond in the rough. We happened to stop here after the motor cross at the Lumen Field. It was super delicious! Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. One of the main things I've been missing post-Covid are happy hours, those afternoon opportunities to stop in and try out a new watering hole without making a major investment in the outcome. They are very slowly making a return to my area and I was pleased to see Antojos recently publicizing theirs on Facebook. I tried it out earlier today and, I've gotta say, I was pretty impressed. To begin, there is a sizable list of mixed drinks, all priced at $3.99 - mostly the standard gin and tonics, margaritas, screwdrivers, and such - but the price is certainly right for what I assume is standard grade bar liquor-based wells. I arrived at around 3:00, a mite early for me to enjoy such things, so I opted for a Coors Light at the same price. (Wish it had been a PBR instead but ah well.) The waitress brought me a sizable basket of tortilla chips, along with dishes of decent salsa and some rather tasty refried beans, and I ordered what seems to be the only happy hour-based entree: the standard burrito, served with a broiled onion and broiled jalapeño. I opted for chicken as my protein. I'll be honest: I expected to receive a smallish burrito that would be mostly rice and beans. What I got was a sizable entree with a generous portion of chicken, served wrapped in foil and paper and weighing in at about a pound and a half. It was very, very tasty and I probably should have taken half of it home - but I just sat there and ate it all, including the onion. It really was just that good. I could have opted for sour cream or guacamole on the side, but they would have cost extra and I didn't really need them. The total bill for this feast? $10.71, including tax . I tipped my waitperson a five spot, because 20% of ten bucks seemed too little to leave on the table. I then proceeded to waddle out of the building, thinking that a late afternoon nap inspired by a minor food coma might be rather a good idea. If you're hungry for other standard Mexican fare, the rest of the menu (with many photos) looked good - but, if you're a senior, a shift worker, or just way hungry of an afternoon, you can't do better that this happy hour deal. I was hesitant going here because of the reviews, but I was craving Mexican and on my way back to Tacoma from Gig Harbor and hungry. I've always loved Mexican food and it seems for the past year I've been trying to seek out all the places that serve quesabirria tacos. It was a Sunday evening and I had my daughter with me. We are both critics lol. She's only 8yr but loves chips, bean dip, and all the salsas. First, I really thought the interior looked better in person than the photos. We were nicely greeted and quickly seated with a drink order. We quickly received a bowl of freshly made chips, salsa, and beens while we explored the menu. I knew I wanted the tacos quesabirria tacos and my daughter wanted the queso(we also get that everywhere). I have to say out of every Mexican restaurant I've been to this salsa and beans were the best I've ever tasted. We both agreed and couldn't believe how fresh and flavorful the salsa was and the beans were the perfect texture and also packed with flavor. We couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was. Quesabirria tacos and queso dip came out and looked great, but both were slightly underwhelming. The tacos didn't have enough going on for me, thicker meat and not a lot else going on, kinda bland(to be fair I didn't add any from the plate to the tacos). I was expecting more flavor from the photos online and the experience with the salsa and beans. Now the queso style they have isn't my preference because it's possibly a blend of cheeses that come off a little bitter vs creamy cheesy? Plus they garnish it in the center and I would prefer that on the side. We didn't finish the queso, in fact we probably each had just a couple bites. All in all I'm still thinking about that salsa and their beans. I may go back just for that, no queso and maybe get an enchilada. read more

The hostess was really nice and so was the ambience, which was really intimate. The food was so good, but the service was disappointing. Our waitress was very attentive as we came in at 4:30 ( half hr yet on happy hr) and proceeded to sink 2-4 margaritas each. We split a fajita combo steak n chicken. Sooo good. The idea of Antojo's was far better than my actual experience. The two stars I gave are for the great service and the chips and salsa. Everything else was bland and underwhelming. For a 6 top at lunch time, we were seated quickly with chips and salsa to munch on while reviewing the menu. I ordered the three enchiladas with various meats and I was really excited because I hadn't eaten that morning. My colleagues ordered their own entrees plus a bunch of apps for the table. I'm my opinion the appetizers were not very good at all. I held out hope for when the main course arrived but I bummed to find that the entree was also not good at all. We have eaten at their other 2 restaurants more than a dozen times, but this was the 1st time at their new location on 6th Avenue. Still authentic cuisine( Antojo, El sabor and Vulve a la vida Mexican style) but served in an O' Wow classy fashion. Service, presentation, taste, and portion are outstanding.
