Let's start by saying, I have never seen another customer here. I think I am the only one who eats here. The waitress says they get super busy and have karaoke on the weekend, I went at what would be peak time. Still saw nobody but the staff. This is not a bad thing, it makes me feel special like it's my own hidden gem. I love the plate that has the steak, enchilada, and chili rellano. Also their salsa is fantastic, they really season it well so it is fresh and garlicky. Yum!

We went here for lunch before heading to the Tacoma Mall. It was empty one other group at a table so we were seated right away. The staff were very friendly and attentive, we had waters and chips and salsa delivered shortly after we were seated. The food was alright, the birria was very tender, it did same it came with consume but there want a cup or bowl of it brought out so that was a little sad. The fries that came with the carne asada fries were a little soft, it was well dressed but underwhelming. The cheese quesadilla was pretty standard as were the rice and beans.

I just moved from Arizona and I was scared that there wouldn't be any good Mexican restaurant in Tacoma. I am glad I found this restaurant. The food is delicious and very flavorful. The staff is polite. I would recommend people to try this restaurant if they're looking for good authentic Mexican food. The location is very spacious and very clean.

Looking for a great Carne Asada? Enchilada? Chips & Salsa? Then head over to Cocina Mexicana in Tacoma. Located near the corner of S. 38th St & S. Cedar, you can easily miss this place if you're driving by. But if you're craving great Mexican food, then it's definitely worth stopping in to check this place out.

Stopped here on my way home from shopping, and was not disappointed!! I'm a big salsa snob, and I'm a firm believer that if the salsa isn't good the food probably isn't either. Salsa was perfectly seasoned and fresh!! Not too much spice!! I had the daily special, but can not remember the name. Everything was soooo good!! I can't wait to go back and try more!! Don't skip this place!! The inside was beautifully decorated and very inviting! :)

It's kind of a shame we didn't make it here much sooner as I believe I had it bookmarked for a long time! After reviewing the menu as I was about to write this review I see that the menu tends to change. I don't know how often but a few items from the online menu versus when what we saw when we were there (and vice versa) were different. But that kind of keeps things interesting and fun! We ordered the Luigi pizza and really liked it a lot! Excellent dough and we had some hot honey and dipping sauces on the side. All house made from the sound of it. And it really seemed to reflect that too as the pizza and all of it's ingredients tasted quite fresh! We ordered a pint of Rogue beer which is a brewery that just went under so best grab up their beer at establishments before it's gone for good. They had a pumpkin beer that was quite good from that brewery. The atmosphere is fun... a little bit of the dive bar vibe going on in a good way as well as quirkiness in decor. The waitress and bartender was super sweet and congenial which rounded out this review with a solid five star score from me!

The food is my favorite part. I can have a beer anywhere, but the food is actually pretty on point minus the nachos, sad to say. Always overcooked, cheese is hardened and well beyond melted, but a massive portion in size. The sandwiches are amazing, the quesadillas are amazing, have yet to make it there before breakfast ends but I'm betting it's probably pretty good. Staff are friendly, efficient, and do well on checking to make sure you're not waiting too long for service without being too bothersome. It gets a little loud, busy and crowded on nights especially on the weekends, but that's typical bar atmosphere. Patio seating is nice on sunny days like today. 5/5 for a hometown spot in the neighborhood.

I went to this restaurant in Tacoma over the weekend. I had actually passed by many times…read morebefore--the eye-catching signage and overall atmosphere always drew me in. Finally got a chance to try it at noon today, and it was a great experience! Environment: The overall vibe is very American. There were TVs on the walls constantly playing various ball games, like today's playoff game between the Thunder and the Lakers. It was pretty busy on the weekend, especially the outdoor seating area, which was almost full. The building is an old structure dating back to the 1900s. Though it shows its age, it's very clean both inside and out--you can tell the owner really cares. Service: Our waitress was very, very friendly and professional. She gave us great recommendations, always served with a smile, checked in on us during the meal, and refilled our water. Very satisfied! Taste: Pizza: There's a funny little story: supposedly, Marco Polo went to China and saw pies, but didn't know how to wrap the filling inside, so he just put it on top--and thus the pizza was born. Personally, I think this is a myth, or many people have started fantasizing about Marco Polo because they think he was too great. But according to various unearthed historical records in China, Marco Polo never actually went to China. In fact, around 2010, more than 20 scholars organized an event called "Retracing Marco Polo's Route." After completing the journey and comparing it to what Marco Polo himself recorded, most of them concluded that he probably never made it to China. Sorry, I have a strong urge to share--went off on a long tangent about Marco Polo. But the pizza was really delicious. It should be truly fire‑baked, not oven‑baked. The sauce was well‑balanced, and the toppings were generous and fresh. My wife and I ate more than half of it! Salad: The dressing and cheese were very generously applied, and the greens were fresh. Chicken wings: They had a pleasant sweet‑savory taste, just right. Unlike most American restaurants where they're too salty or too sweet, these were perfectly balanced. All the dipping sauces were good. Overall, highly recommended!

We'd organized a club event here, and from the moment we arrived it was clear the venue was ready for us. The dining room is expansive, set against a gorgeous golf course backdrop, and it handled our group comfortably without feeling chaotic or cramped. Breakfast was solid across the board, and the kitchen kept pace well given the volume they were managing--no small thing when you're coordinating that many plates at once. One low point was the bacon--it simply wasn't great. Watching the sausage make its way around the other end of the table, I knew I'd made the wrong call. A special mention goes to Becca, who put in real work coordinating this event on the front end and running the show when we arrived. Her diligence made it all work and sets the tone for everything that follows...and it showed. Service throughout was attentive and the feedback from the group was genuinely positive, and if you know Porsche Club people, is a meaningful endorsement. There's also a large patio we'll try and experience the next time when it's warmer. It looked like a fantastic space for the right weather. We're already planning a return visit, and I'd absolutely recommend Urban Elk if you're looking for a venue that can handle a larger group with care and without the usual friction.
