7/14/2022 La Volpe is always a special treat. Frank gave us a huge hug and an insight to the specials on the menu. They were offering a garganelli pasta with fresh tuna in a tomato ,caper and olive sauce. Similar to a puttanesca sauce. After listening to the description I just had to have it. I'm glad I did! We started with our usual favorite, the calamari Fritti with zucchini. Always yummy! Hubby ordered the saltimbocca which is served with sautéed spinach and a side of pasta. He opted for the side of pasta with a topping of meat sauce which is a slight up charge, but very much worth it. Our server Julio is a delight. We have known him over the years , from busboy to waiter and it's wonderful to see how he is now a master at what he does. La Volpe is a bit of a ride for us but it is always worth the trip. I am unable to give 'em no better than a 3 star review (and that's being generous)... FOOD... okay, not exceptional and a very narrow offering... sure, you can order a pizza but their "by the slice" is very limited... and, sparse in toppings... compared to other places within walking distance pretty mediocre'... not bad but not great SERVICE... yes, nice ambiance but if you are not first in line be prepared to wait... only one very small area to order... and... after you order you gotta get in another line for drinks... their layout is not conducive to an "easy peasy" ordering process yes, there staff is very nice but even with a few people in the cafe they are stressed... there are tables available which only adds to the confusion... On the POSITIVE SIDE... you have lots of great choices... try 'em all and you decide... for me, I'm gonna go back to #1 on the list... read more

Delicious food. Indoor seating is spaced out very well. Their outdoor dining is on their front patio area, which is the buildings overhang and some concrete walls too. They have plastic window walls and propane heater lamps which made eating outside in 40 degree temperature feel like an 80 degree day. Very comfortable in their outside dining area in December, I took my jacket off and I was about to take my sweater off (don't worry I had a good shirt underneath) but their server actually lowered the propane heater lamps temp for us. We come out here often because the pizza is very good. The only pizzeria that I know of that has chicken francese & chicken marsala slices (both of which I highly recommend). Sometimes they have a good 6-7 different specialty slice options other times (like today) it's a little less, but usually always good options to choose from. The staff has been a hit or miss, sometimes they're super friendly other times they can be a little standoffish. Prices aren't terrible, they're pretty typical for what you'd get at other spots. The reason we prefer their specialty slices to others is because they're kind of a "deep dish" style but still really crispy and delicious. We've eaten at the restaurant once for dinner, and it was a pleasant experience as well. A bit pricy and not the most extensive menu, but a nice spot for a nice Italian sit down meal. read more

I gave a 2 star only because of the good food. Food was great but the wait for the food was so long. My children finished their pizzas and we finished our appetizer of baked clams and then waited over hour for our entrees. We got seated at around 7:30 pm and our main entrees didn't come out until after 9:30 pm. On top of it all at the end when paying the bill, there was a 3.5% fee that the restaurant charges for using credit/debit card transaction. If you enjoy good food but also willing to wait an entirely too long of a time to eat and are ok to pay an extra 3.5% on top of you fairly expensive bill, then I would recommend this restaurant. As for my wife and I , we wont recommend to our family and friends or return to the restaurant to dine in again with the exception of maybe getting pizza on the pizza side to go. read more

First time I tried this place, I ordered take out. A slice and some wings. When it was time to pay, I was overcharged by a few dollars. Come to find out, their prices online and in the store do not match. Prices on line are cheaper. I hope that was fixed. The slice and wings were good, no complaints. I decided to dine in for dinner. First time here. Our waiter, Juan, was friendly and very knowledgeable. All around service was excellent. For appetizers we had the pork belly and stuffed mushrooms. Both were excellent. I had the squid ink pasta and seafood, which was amazing. My husband had the chicken stuffed with ham, mozzarella and provolone, and he loved it. My go-to's are the penne a la vodka, eggplant parm, chicken parm, and garlic knots. I have ordered from their catering menu here a few times for parties, and I am very pleased with their pricing. Compared to some other local italian restaurants they are pretty reasonably priced. The catered food is always just as good as the restaurant food as well. My mother in law held an engagement party here for my husband and I back in 2017, it was lovely. Their private room held about 15-20 ppl. The staff were very efficient and according to her the pricing was very reasonable for a private party. ** ANTON'S PIZZERIA Their regular pizza is decent, but their special slices are fantastic. Best pizza spot easily within 10 miles. They have a real wood fired oven "you can see logs burning" & the pizza taste like it's made with love. Are there better pizza places in Suffolk, sure, but none anywhere near here. Mama lisa in Mastic is ok but not quite as good. I'm normally a regular slice kinda guy but the gourmet slices they have here just call to me. I think next time I'm going with 2 specialty slices! read more

Our meals were fine but I would have appreciated it if the waitress had suggested something off the regular menu when my daughter said she would like something "lemony" because she didn't feel like sauce. I know for a fact she could have had a francaise sauce or piccata from next door but it wasn't offered so she settled for a meal she didn't eat. We eat here quite often and in the past we've had servers who have accommodated us and offered us items that were cooked next door at Antons . Our go to local dining spot. The menu has all your Italian favorites plus some really delicious menu additions. I absolutely love the strawberry spinach salad as a shared course and their veal chop is an all time favorite special. The service is sophisticated and friendly. Favorite local spot. We had early reservations on a rainy Sunday. The dining room was cozy and wait staff so warm and pleasant. We were promptly served drinks, ordered just entrees, as we're not huge eaters. I ordered a stuffed chicken breast which was breaded and served with a light sauce ( not tomatoe). It was moist and delicious, I wanted something a little different than the usual pasta and red sauce ,and I was not disappointed. My husband had the lobster agnoletti and ate it all!!! After doing our taxes we decided to stop inside for a nice meal and boy was it lovely. Amazing decor, very homey and very Italian. We were created very warmly and had some amazing plates! From the fried calamari to the sea bass just an amazing combination of flavors and excellent service. We took my Aunt out for her birthday to La Volpe. I had the Pasta chi Sarde. It was the best Pasta chi Sarde that I ever had. My wife and aunt had the Orecchiette Alla Barese. They also said that it was the best Orecchiette Alla Barese that they ever had. They just took both of those dishes and elevated them up a notch or two. The pasta prices are a little high, but well worth it. If I lived closer to the restaurant (I'm about 1.5 hours away), I would definitely go back on a regular basis. A young gentleman was our waiter. Visited La Volpe earlier this week and I was surprised on how great the dining room setting was and how friendly everyone was. My friend and I visited for lunch and we started off with their delicious garlic knots. These garlic knots were probably the best around town because they were PERFECT and on top of that, the marinara sauce was incredible, better than most places. Then we proceeded with their calamari. It was my first time having calamari with actual little pieces of squid in it. Usually it's rings of the calamari with just cocktail sauce. But this calamari was definitely a 8.5 out of a 10. Then for my main, I decided to get their chicken roll. Perfectly crispy saucy and cheesy with mouth watering chicken cutlets. I also got extra marinara sauce with that and let me tell you that these guys are the real deal and they are not stingy with their sauces, because there's nothing better than having your favorites in QUANTITY!
