I came here for the first time today. My brother and a friend made tge recommendation. I was wondering why we were driving so far away from Montauk Highway. But it turns out the food here is some of the best Ive ever had on Long Islams. We can perhaps go further and say best anywhere. My main course was a Flounder Marinara. It was amazingly tasty and fresh! The garlic bread was crispy and nustmike homemade. And I can't even spell the name of the amazing dessert. Fantastic food. But hands down the worst service uve had in my entire life. Not sure who was serving, the owner or what. Sweet lady they call nona. But she fkrgot everything i asked for. Had to ask for the check 4 times. And i woukd watch her leave my table go behind the bar and chit chat with her friends. It took an hour to get my meal. It took an hour to get my check. Only redeeming quality was the food was good. The chicken parm was to die for. The alfreso tortelini was average. Tortelini overcooked and mushy, and the alfredo sauce was clumpy. The tomato soup was great though. And the atmosphere was pleasant. Dim lighting, small bar area seats only 4. But pleasant aesthetics. Very mom and pop feel. Wish the service was better. We have been living in Mastic Beach for about 5 years and today was the 1st time we went to Onofrio's. It is a small restaurant with a small parking space. Reservations are not required but they are recommended. When we got there at 6, it was busy but we were able to be seated right away. We started with the garlic bread which was good. Then we got the Cheese Pizza Pie and we enjoyed it. You can purchase a pie with your choice of toppings but we just got it with cheese. Then we had the baked clams which I really enjoyed. Our entree came with either soup or salad. I chose the soup, and the soup of the day was clam chowder. I've tried many clam chowders and I really didn't like this one. It was salty and didn't really taste like clam chowder. Next time, I would choose the salad or maybe try another kind of soup. We then had chicken parm with spaghetti was delicious and so was the lasagna. We drank water but the everyone from the table next to us ordered the homemade Ice Tea which I would like to try next time. Also, I saw another table order the Mussels and they looked so goooood. I would definitely go back to try those. Staff was friendly. It was a little quiet in there, maybe some music would be nice. I think they do play music but not sure at what time. Small, quaint place with a "grandma's dining room" ambiance. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Failed to mention that there is a $5 charge for the garlic bread when asked if we wanted some, but it was worth the price. Always busy regardless of time and day of the week (every table sat at 7pm on a Thursday night). Could use a little more waitstaff, as service was a little slow. The food at Onofrio's, Mastic Beachis delicious. We went there Friday evening and everything from Pizza, mussels, pasta dishes, Fish & Steak were incredible. The waitress was one of the best I've met in a long time. Tonight, Monday we enjoyed our leftovers of veal and eggplant. It tasted as good as on Friday!! My husband and I had dinner tonight at Onofrio's. The owners, Patti and Steve are just the best. Steve does an extraordinary job cooking. We ordered shrimp scampi, lasagna, chicken francese and baked clams. The food was amazing. The chicken was so tender, we could cut it with a fork. Patti is the hostess/waitress/and Onofrio's social butterfly ! She meets and greets everyone who comes in, whether it's to dine in or take out. The dining room is warm and cozy and makes you feel like you're home. I would definitely recommend reservations for the weekend. We haven't been to this restaurant in years- we moved out of the area. The food was always great. We moved back into the area decided to go to Onofrio's for dinner. There was only 1 other couple in the restaurant at the time-and they were served dinner. As we were ordering, two other couples were seated. We saw this and ordered quickly. I believe our waiter ( and only waiter) was inexperienced. I'll make this short. The waiter was serving salads to another couple. So we asked for out salad- it was fresh and tasted very good. No appetizers yet- waited and waited. Finally it gets there - tasted ok. Nothing great nothing bad. Still no dinner after 90+ minutes. One couple started to eat dinner. We ordered eggplant parm. Finally, we asked it to go. 2 hours and no dinner. BS. It took 15 minutes after we asked for the check. Then, he didn't have a pen. Another 4 minutes. Too much, I had to go BTW- we had the dinner the next night and the food was excellent! This was on a Tuesday night I believe. Hopefully, they have different staff on the weekend. We might go back, but not for awhile. Maybe do a takeout. read more

It was expensive (2 pies for $28), tiny ( large pie couldnt have been more the 13 inches in diameter) and I am convinced it was a frozen pre made pizza pirchased from a food distributor. It was on par with chucky cheese or dominos, I kid you not. The cheese did not even taste real. I love this little Mom and Pop restaurant. We went tonight with our girls. We always get the garlic bread for 3 bucks, it is good. The restaurant is cozy and warm. We have taken friends and they have loved it and went back on their own The best is the anything francaise. They make the best sauce. My daughter had the chicken francaise tonight. Yum! I love the eggplant parmesan The eggplant is not greasy fried. My husband had the tortellini alfredo He added sausage. Onofrio's is a small place with live music and friendly staff. The parking lot was a little tight, but it makes sense for a small place to have a small parking lot. When I went, we had everything from appetizers to dessert. If I had to choose a favorite, I would choose the mussel appetizer. Just the mussels and the garlic bread filled me up! The Eggplant Romano came with a choice of soup or salad, so it was definitely a lot of food! I took the Eggplant Romano home and ate it the next day. I can't tell if the taste changed, but the pasta tasted bland, to me. They also have a huge selection of wines, both red and white. I'm not a fan of red wine, but my friend drank a whole bottle of Da Vinci Chianti. I guess it must have been good! read more

What wasn't incredible was the dark living room vibe, serial killer decor, windowless bathroom (hard to find the light switch), and fruit flies in the balsamic vin. We had to ask for oil and vin with bread even though those typically come out automatically (we shouldn't have to ask). The bread 10/10 looked store bought. My recommendation: order out. Bugs in the food is a turn off. Staff is nice, we just couldn't make it past all warning signs and left before the food came out. One night my brother was like let's go to Onofrio's and I was like OK whatever and I'm happy we did because wow the food is so good. We have eaten here and have done take out several times and everything dish was on point. After months of coming too early or going on days they are closed, it was finally time to dine at "Onofrio's" for two. Going there they have parking on the side which is perfect because I didn't have to look for a space. When I walked in the first thing I thought was "The Godfather" nice authentic Italian dining. What to listen to Justin Bieber in "Onofroi's?" "Forget'a bout it!" It Franky blue eyes all the way. The place is small and inviting, perfect for a intimate first date. When I walked in I was greeted by Katie, the best waitress on Long Island. She was very friendly, polite, and entertaining, I enjoyed her serves very much. I can't stress enough how comfortable this place makes you feel. The environment is so relaxing. Katie brought over lemon water as well as Italian bread that was lightly toasted. I started of with a appetizer, I got the crab cake. Perfect idea! The crab cake was outstanding. When you order a main course it comes with a soup or salad and a pasta followed by your entrée. I settled on the creamy Caesar salad which delivered on taste. It was fresh and had Parmesan on it (did I mention I love CHEESE). Next was the main course the chicken parmigiana. Wow! When I tell you it was great believe it was great. The marinara sauce was homemade and not from a can, the chicken was crunchy on the outside and mouth watering in the inside and the Cheese was just enough to bring it all together. I instantly feel in love with this place. Finally, Katie strong armed me into getting the cheese cake with raspberry sauce on the side. Is there any way to describe perfect. I mean it had to be made fresh because it didn't have that "sit in refrigerator taste" some cakes have when they sit to long. It was crazy how good the gram cracker base was. "When the moon hits the sky..." I remember as a teen taking out pizza from here and my mother making me "carry it home in the car on my lap over a towel so I wouldn't burn my legs" That happened. Sad/Funny part is I miss that pizza. The ownership has changed and I miss the crust that I want so badly now (and used to hate) My Mom used to love "meatball" toppings which I learned to love. But I remember it wasn't just beef it was legit "meatballs". We ate IN the restaurant once...leave it to take out Staff who would check us out for our take out pizza were always very nice. I got excited because of the good reviews, so I had to try, being the pizza connoisseur that I am. The large pie, which is really a medium at a large price, is not at all special. One of the best pizzas ever! The crust has a slight taste of olive oil, but is not soggy at all! It's actually pretty crispy for a pan pizza. The homemade sauce is delicious (not sweet!) and they put just the right amount of cheese (which is NOT salty) - not too much, but not stingy either! My husband and I have tried MANY different pizzas from many different places. Onofrio's is definitely in the top five, and that includes Lombardi's in NYC and Pepe's in CT! I've noticed in this economy that many pizza places have gone downhill by using crap ingredients to save money (for example, Mario's in Commack), but Onofrio's has not done this! It's nice to have a place so close by that I can count on for a good pie! read more
