We ordered from Papa's back in October on a random weekday I believe. Hubby read reviews that…read morehighly recommended the double cheese double pepperoni so that's what we went with. We went with the regular sauce (they also have a sweet sauce but we both dislike sweet sauce). It was great! The pizza was well done with nicely cup and char pepperoni, and the cheese were good quality (Sorrento now rebranded as Galbani) unlike some pizza places that use subpar mozzarella cheese. There was definitely double cheese and double pepperoni, but we both agreed that it was just too much cheese and next time we would just get regular cheese but still with double pepperoni. Well, there was a Sunday Bills game a few weeks later so we decided to call ahead to place an order with the double pepperoni. We called on Saturday morning and paid over the phone and everything. Planned pickup around halftime so hubby could go pick it up. We got home and were severely disappointed. It looked like double cheese with regular pepperoni, and the pizza looked undercooked where there was absolutely no char on the cheese or the pepperoni. At that price point, we decided to call and complain (which is something we pretty much never do). They offered to make us a new one and we offered to bring back the bad one, but they said to keep it or toss it. Hangry Hubby left during the second half to go pick up the second pizza which he opened to see while there and it looked the same as the first one! It was busy and by that point he was mentally done. He came home, we unhappily ate some of the underbaked pizza that was ridiculously cheesy with not enough pepperoni, and hubby swore to never order from there again. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures from both times for visuals cause that's how I usually am with pizzas - I see it, I forget about everything else and I eat it, immediately. LOL One thing to note - hubby did say that the first time he went there, there was a guy who looked like he might have been the owner (or at least someone in charge) that made the delicious pizza. And on the day of the Bills game he didn't see that guy. So, perhaps that's the difference maker. However, at $35-40 a pizza, we are NOT willing to deal with the inconsistent quality. This was extremely disappointing because hubby has not found a pizza place he likes in Hamburg since we moved here 7 years ago (our absolute favorite is the original Santora's in Depew, or Imperial or La Nova). So, back to not having any decent pizza places we can order from in Hamburg again... blargh!

Holy cow that was a lot of food. We were certainly full and the meal was great. The bread was soft w caraway seeds, and the meat was tender and flavorful. The wings were in the buffalo dry rub w mild sauce - we had a plane to catch so nothing too spicy. The wings did have a lot of flavor, not hot but a bit warm. And there was a good crunch to the outside. The interior was all dark wood, motorcycles, and license plates. It added to the ambience of a dive bar w great food. We will definitely go back!

I was excited to visit the…read morebirthplace of Buffalo wings and expected something memorable: maybe a classic, old-school bar with a little grit and a lot of character. Instead, the place felt more like a cavernous tourist stop than the legendary wing destination I had imagined. The wings were good, but not great. We ordered them dry so we could try several sauces. The wings were cooked perfectly. The sauces, however, were underwhelming. We tried the garlic parmesan, the original, and the extreme heat sauce, which I believe used to be was called "Suicidal." They all seemed to rely almost entirely on cayenne and butter, with limited complexity and less heat than expected. Maybe I've been spoiled by other wing spots with more creative sauces and better blue cheese and ranch, but these just didn't stand out. That said, the service was great, and I appreciated the staff. I'm glad I went for the history, but based on the food alone, it didn't live up to the hype. I will not go back.

I will say that I've had several and when there are that many sauces and flavors, some are bound to be better than others. However, the important thing is that they cook the wing properly to get a crispy exterior and meaty, juicy interior. No chewy, gummy skin, and the interior remains juicy. It's an art that most establishments, even in Western New York, are not able to achieve consistently but O'Neill's always nails. The Smitty sauce was good, as is the traditional Buffalo sauce. I was a bit underwhelmed when I had the Jamaican Jerk wings. It did not say on the menu that it was a dry rub, and it listed it as 2 pepper hot. If it was a sauce rather than a rub, I couldn't tell, it was not saucy, and it was not spicy/hot, at least not to my sense of heat. The overwhelming flavor profile I could discern was salt. But like I said, the wing was cooked perfectly so all was good in the end. I'll be back to try the Holy Ghost Pepper sauce and see if I can live up to that challenge.

It was a bit busy (30-40 min wait for dining area), but there were a few tables off to the right of the bar where you could seat yourself. Luckily, one opened up right as we walked in. When seated at these tables, you have to order at the bar. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the nuggiez -- the sauce cooled the boneless bites down a little, but the flavor was still great. I loved all the sauces we tried (saucy hot cajun, medium, and garlic parm). The wings were perfectly crisp, and the steak pizza had a ton of flavor. Definitely a heavier meal, but if you're bringing someone from out of town who wants great wings, this is a spot worth taking them to.

The GPS took us to the first location that opened (the waitress said the 1960s) a long time ago. The building is sitting at an angle from the road so go to the right and turn in to park or go past and turn right for the parking lot. Middle of the afternoon on a Thursday they weren't too busy. We were seated immediately and waited on quick. I wanted some clarity with the wing heat. Some places hot is mild or hot is burn your face off. She clarified the medium hot is hot so that's what I decided on for an order of 6. My sister isn't so much of a wing person so she decided on a grilled cheese. The waitress was pleasant and answered all the questions we had. The restaurant itself isn't too big but can seat a lot of people. Total wing vibe. Lots of different flavors and quantities went by...everything looked tasty and fresh. They had Yuengling on tap so that's what I ordered. She had a pepsi. Food arrived fast. The aroma was to die for (ok it burns the eyes a little...). Came with celery and blue cheese. The wings were amazing, some of the best I have ever eaten. Crunchy celery and cool dipping sauce. Bigger than most that I have ordered and very freshly prepared. After 6 I was filled up...but I ordered another brew just to wash it all down. If you're in Buffalo (or the area) it's definitely worth stopping to have a treat. Other Buffalo favorites are on the menu as well (Beef on Weck sandwich. We will definitely be back, more flavors to try and locations to enjoy.
