Burris Law helped me with my Mom's probate and estate. They are informative, extremely helpful,…read moreprompt, and understanding. Going through the probate process took a long time(2 and a half years) partial due to the nature of the courts and partially due to some more uncommon issues that came up. Including an existence of a trust, but being unable to locate a copy including finding the attorney who originally set up the trust and asking if they had any copies. Unfortunately, the trust was set up before computer records were common. Another problem they helped me with was SunRun decided, for reasons we were never able to figure out, to try to shut of service even after I had began the process of transferring everything into my name and was only then waiting on the deed for the house that I wouldn't have until probate was over. Getting a letter saying SunRun was going to deactivate my service for being overdue on payments while in the same letter saying I owed no money and was 0 days past due was confusing and was confusingto every SunRunemployeei spoke to and none could give me answers. Burris Law helped me tremendously with this and without their help I don't know what would have happened in the end. I can't say enough nice things about them. They sent me 2 small care packages during the process and it was really nice to get something positive in the mail during a time when I was getting anxiety every time the mail came. Even after probate has been over for a year they answer any questions I have that come up. Retaining their services was expensive, as it would have been for any probate attorney, and it was worth every cent. When I'm in a better spot I'll be back to set up my own trust with their help.

After getting to know Max…read morefor several months, I introduced my parents to him so that they could create their trust. I scheduled the appointment for my parents and the three of us met with Max in his office and at the time he seemed friendly, professional and knowledgeable, so we were happy with his services. Fast forward several years and my parents have both passed away and the trust documents he provided to them went missing. As the trustee of my parents' estate, I reached out to Max for help in getting a copy of the trust documents. That's where my experience with Max took an ugly turn. He wouldn't take my call. You read that right. He refused to speak with me. He didn't offer his condolences. He wouldn't acknowledge or agree to meet with me. He would only communicate via his staff to tell me that he doesn't keep copies of certified trusts. He only has the working document and had his people tell me that he refused to share it with me. He couldn't be bothered to explain this to me personally. After consulting with a few different attorneys, I've been told that there is no legal reason for him to withhold this information. As the trustee of my parents' estate, how am I supposed to fulfill their wishes when I don't have a copy of the trust to follow the instructions? Max didn't care. His clients (my parents) had passed, so I guess he felt that he had no obligation to talk with me...However, Max had no problem communicating with me when my parents were alive and potential clients. We emailed back and forth about meeting times, how my parents thought the meeting went and scheduling time for them to come back to sign the papers. All of that planning and communication was with me. (Yes, I still have all the emails) He had no problem communicating directly with me when a check was on the way, but after they died? Lisa who? Won't even take my call or return my voicemail. I had been in a weekly networking group with Max for many months, personally walked my parents directly into his office and I even attended a party at his home where I met his wife. He knows who I am. He could easily verify my identity as the successor trustee. If he can't be bothered to answer my call when he clearly knows me, how do you think he'll treat your loved ones when you're gone? I hate to give a bad google review, but in your time of need, when your loved on dies, Max Alavi (at a minimum) should take your call to offer his condolences and guidance, not refuse to speak with you or set an appointment. His behavior wasn't just unprofessional; it was rude and downright cruel to refuse to speak with the grieving daughter (and successor trustee!) of one of his clients in this way. Max was great before the sale was made, but wow, what a difference in demeanor when it really mattered most. I hope all of you reading this can learn from my mistake.

My mom is very ill, so any interruption or loss of health benefits has truly life-and-death consequences. I came in already navigating an incredibly difficult situation, with a lot of questions and a lot of anxiety. Patrick was compassionate, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the inner workings of Medicaid in a way that actually made sense, and he offered proactive advice that helped us think ahead rather than just react. I never felt rushed, and it was clear he genuinely cared about helping us do what was best for my mom. I walked out with peace of mind and a much clearer understanding of how I can support her during this time. Compassion, empathy, and real expertise were all present, which meant more than I can put into words. In the middle of such a hard chapter, it was truly meaningful to cross paths with an exceptional human.
