If I had the option to give zero stars to Jaina, I would. I had hired Jaina to do hair and make up for my wedding. She is completely unprofessional and inexperienced. Where do I even start?
When we were discussing to hire her for the wedding, we were told we would have to cover travel and room expenses which was expected. This had included her flight to the venue and Ubers after she landed. However, 2 weeks before the wedding, Jaina informs us that we would have to pay for her Uber from her house to the airport and back on top of what was discussed. Mind you, the flight was booked from EWR and she resides in the Edison area. The travel is about 10 minutes. So now, I question how she manages to get to work on a daily basis. Does she charge her clients the Uber fee for her morning commute?
Anyhow, we explained that this was not originally discussed. She never sent any official contract and continued to add things on. She threatened to cancel if we did not. We agreed as we did not have the time to find another artist, but in retrospect, it would have been better if we had canceled. Jaina attempted to charge us $500 for her Ubers despite us already paying for her $500 flight and $300 room fee.
But, this is not just about the travel issues and money. Jaina truly has no make up skills. All of my guests were disappointed with her make up and she would not listen to their requests about foundations. My bridal party looked like they had their hair and make up done by a 10 year old. I had to go back and fix everyone's hair and make up on my own. She does not have the ability to work with different types of hair and skin tones.
However, it doesn't stop there. The time given to Jaina to start hair and make up was 3 AM, but did not start until 4 AM. She was just waking up at 3 AM when my friend arrived to pick her up and bring her to the location we wanted her to set up. It took her about an hour to set up so we did not start until 5 AM. She need to do hair and make up for about 8 people. I had given her the option to fly out her and a second member, but she refused and claimed that she could do it by herself. My baraat had started at 10 AM and Jaina was still finishing up their hair and make up. She kept blaming the first three people for taking too long when in reality it was her who was unable to match the speed and arrived late. Not to mention she kept complaining to the other members of my bridal party while prolonging their time in the chair.
After this, she demands that someone drop her back to the hotel at 10:30 AM. My wedding had already started and we were in the middle of entrances. You are in no position to demand anything when you are late and unable to deliver what you claim to offer.
So a warning to all my future brides, please save yourself the stress and hire someone else for your wedding. Jaina is not the person. She is unprofessional, will add extra expenses on at the last minute, and make rude/unreasonable demands. Personally, I should have asked for her cosmetology license prior to booking. Her makeup skills are way under par and she barely hits the mark for hairstyles. If I could do it all over again, I would have went with someone more professional despite it being more expensive. It was 100% not about the money but about professionalism. I am not sure she should even be running a salon.
UPDATE: The owner, Jaina, has been harassing my mom and family to remove the reviews since I have posted it. read more
