We have been going there for our anniversary and will go for our 59th this August! Wonderful ambience, and delicious food

Anya is one of those restaurants that absolutely looks like a five‑star experience the moment you walk in. The space is gorgeous, the vibe is elevated without being stuffy, and on most nights the service really shines. It's the kind of place you want to love. But our Easter brunch left me feeling more "hmm" than "wow." We opted for the 7‑course holiday tasting, which sounded festive and ambitious, but the execution didn't quite match the promise. Courses arrived beautifully plated, but several felt more conceptual than flavorful, and the pacing never fully found its rhythm. For the price point and the occasion, I was hoping for a bit more sparkle -- something that made the meal feel truly celebratory, as well as plentiful. The kids' options were another miss. While I appreciate that Anya aims for an elevated dining experience, the selections didn't feel particularly kid‑friendly. When you're trying to keep little ones happy through a long, multi‑course brunch, having approachable, familiar choices goes a long way. Here, the offerings felt more like scaled‑down adult dishes than something designed with kids in mind. That said, the staff was warm, the atmosphere was lovely, and there were moments where the meal hinted at what Anya does best. There's clearly talent in the kitchen and pride in the presentation -- it just didn't fully land this time. It would be difficult to find a more beautiful venue than Anya's. It's lovely both inside and out. On this warm evening, we arrived early and dined al fresco in the shade. We ordered: * Brie Tart: pastry, blackberry, thyme, walnuts, honey, dressed micro green. $18 * Stuffed Gulf Shrimp: mirepoix, bell pepper & breadcrumb stuffing, potato puree, spinach, lemon, lobster sauce. $44 * Duck a l 'Orange: crispy seared breast, grand mariner & orange reduction, roasted fennel, parsnip puree, blackberry. $42 Ice water and two glasses of wine found their way to our table quickly, the service was excellent throughout our meal. Delicious warm rolls with tasty, salted butter arrived soon after. We were dining early so our view was quiet and beautiful. We also able to score a table in the shade, there is limited shade available outside. Yhe tart was good, though I think a warm version would be better. The shrimp were nicely cooked and very tasty and I thought the stuffing was delicious. My co-diner was less impressed with the stuffing, though overall I think this was a well executed dish. Unfortunately, the Crispy Duck a l 'Orange was anything but, the duck skin was soggy and the duck a little too rare. A rare miss, pardon the pun, for Anya's. I don't like to return a dish during dinner, as it disrupts the flow. So, I ate the duck which wasn't bad, but a premium price does infer the food is going to be properly prepared. We came to Anya for our anniversary and were greeted with a sweet card at the table--such a thoughtful touch! The staff was super friendly, and the starters were the highlight: the carrot ginger soup and pork & leek dumplings were both delicious. For mains, the beef Wellington was just okay, but my husband enjoyed the duck l'orange. I tried the ube cheesecake--unique and fun, though I'd probably try something different next time. Arrived last night for a 7pm reservation for 2. Hostess greeted us, went to go check that the table was ready, then proceeded to sit us at a table that was NOT ready. Completely empty aside from tablecloth. The table was never fully set after the hostess set it anyway - no wine book and no wine glasses. Hostess did apologize. I'd like to say not her fault but there were PLENTY of open, fully sat tables. The restaurant was FAR from busy. Waiter came over, didn't introduce himself or even say hi. Just poured water & walked away. I thought he was a busser. Every other unoccupied table had a cork book/menu, we didn't. So I took one off the table behind us, which then prompted the waiter to come back and ask if we wanted a bottle of wine. I told him I wanted to see what this book was because we didn't have one - he said they were scattered on every couple tables .. they weren't. They were on every table aside from ones already occupied. Remember our table wasn't fully set? We ordered off the prefixed menu which for our wallets was a great idea, but I'd rather order off the regular menu if I decide to come back. We both had the French onion soup - very good. I had the beef tenderloin tips. I wasn't asked for a preference of how to cook them which should've been my first (or possibly third?) red flag. The meal was also supposed to come with fingerling potatoes, brussel sprout hash & caramelized onions. There were about 6 bright green hard brussel sprouts and less than a handful of caramelized onions. Absolutely was not a brussel sprout hash. A sad act if that's what they're calling it. Tips were between rare and medium rare. Edible. Not my favorite but that's my palate, not yours. Husband got the statler chicken - this should be the go to. It was very good. Also both had the crème brûlée which was very good too. Each had 2 drinks. Not the best but not the worst experience. Ambiance was fine. Roses were pretty for Valentine's Day. I wouldn't sit in the restaurant again if I were to go back - the bar would be my choice. We'll see. read more

Anya is a fine-dining French restaurant that has been voted top 25 Most Romantic Restaurants in Connecticut. It was truly a magnificent experience to mark the special occasion. I usually don't write restaurant reviews, but I had a pretty strange experience at this place last week. We were a party of two and had a reservation (not a walk-in). We were seated by the window, outside of the main dining hall. It was quite cold, so we politely asked if we could move to a table inside the main dining area. The server seemed hesitant and said he would check. Then, right behind us, three staff members stood there discussing it as if it was a BIG DEAL, which already felt a bit awkward. The server came back and told us it wasn't possible. I mentioned that if the main dining hall was fully reserved, we also had a reservation, but he said there was nothing he could do. About five minutes later, another staff member came over and moved us into the main dining hall, seating us right beside the entrance. What made this situation even stranger was that throughout our entire meal, the dining hall was far from full. There were many empty tables, even though we were there for quite a while since we ordered the course menu. At no point did the main dinning hall feel busy or crowded. Im not from the States, but I've lived in the US for a long time and have never quite had an experience like this. The fact that we were the only people of color in the restaurant made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. The food itself wasn't bad, but I'm still left wondering why it was so difficult to accommodate such a simple request in the first place. read more

Ambiance is great. Very spacious inside (and the bathrooms are nice too.) Sometimes there is a pianist. It is not loud everyone is mindful and because it's spacious not to worry about volume wise. *note: dress code to keep in mind. The food is good. The Kurobuta is great. The other foods are seasoned nicely not overpowering. Awesome selection of alcohol. Waiter/waitress are kind and polite. If you have questions about the menu they are patient. If you have a party in plan you can reserve as well. read more

Anniversary dinner and we could not have been more impressed! From the greeting by our hostess to the card recognizing our anniversary on the table, we immediately new we were in for a treat. The decor is elegant but simple and the ambiance is exceptional. Cocktails to start were perfect - Anyatini and Smoked Manhattan were smooth; add in a Mojito and refreshing beer for later on. Clam Chowder, Chopped Salad, Spicy Tuna, bruschetta, pickles, olives, rolls - amazing for starters. Main course: Filet and a Swordfish steak. Fantastic! read more

Had dinner with my GF and her 15 y/o son. It is a beautiful restaurant with an amazing vibe. The piano player was a nice touch. Drinks are great and their specialty cocktails are creative and really good. For apps we had the Roman crispy artichokes which were outstanding. Her son had the lasagna, it looked great but he didn't love the cheese. I don't taste it so I have no idea what the source of his concern was. She ordered the lobster gnocchi and she immediately didn't love it. The cream based sauce was really fishy smelling and tasting. She returned it without issue and opted for a side of meatballs for dinner. I had the shrimp and grits from the daily specials and loved it. First time visit to Anya. Very nice outside and inside is even nicer! Had reservations and was seated upon arrival. We were there on a weeknight and they offer a prix fixe menu. My first mistake was looking at the menu on they're website which was a fall menu it has not been updated to the winter menu. I guess it changed in early December. Not too big of a deal both menus were very similar with just a couple of variations were looking forward to chicken francese but went with the chicken cordon bleu. Everything we ordered was delicious and we cleared all of our plates. Everyone was really nice. And will most likely be returning. My second mistake which was kinda my fault was not double checking my bill. After I got home and looked at the email I noticed I was charged for a slice of cake that I did not order or receive. read more

Party of 2, Saturday 11-23-2024, reservations, first time dining at Anya. My first impression was wow, this place is beautiful. A gentleman was playing piano in the corner, the place is elegant. We were seated and ordered drinks and an appetizer. I've gotta say, both of the drinks I had were top tier, some of the best drinks I've had. We ordered our entrees and enjoyed drinks while we waited. My wife ordered the Beef Wellington medium rare, I ordered the Ribeye Au Poivre. We received our entrees, and the Beef Wellington was WAY overcooked, probably medium well. My entree Ribeye was smothered with what I would describe as an excessive amount of the Au Poivre cream sauce. This was problematic because a ribeye is a fatty cut of meat, and not all of it is edible. The thick layer of sauce made it difficult to separate the meat from the fat. I mentioned the overcooked Wellington to our server and it was taken off the bill. We ordered a slice of cake to go so we could eat it at home. I want to love this place, I really liked the vibe, drinks, and great service. I will give it another shot and I'm hoping next time the entrees will be top notch like the rest of the dining experience. read more

Can certainly tell you it's not French in any way shape or taste. Ordered the chateaubriand, the meat was raw and the 'bordelaise' sauce tasted like canned beef gravy. Mashed potatoes were pulverized to the point of a sad, lifeless excuse for a potato... Since My Review was over 2 years ago I figured I would update it. Went here Thursday September 16 on my 35th birthday with my boyfriend and son for dinner. The food is still absolutely amazing- it actually may have gotten better! Our service was amazing from beginning to end. We arrived on time for our reservation and we were seated promptly in a beautiful large round booth. The outside was packed (as their must have been a private event going on)! Our waitress was extremely friendly and accommodating & she was constantly checking on us. The chef even came around to the tables and asked how everything was & how everything was cooked- which is always something to appreciate at a nice restaurant! My boyfriend and I each got the Filet Mignon (adult portion's) and my son ordered a filet Mignon from the kids menu. The kids menu has changed significantly since our first visit. Now the children's menu consisted a of a few different 3- course meal's at $25 a piece; which has its pros and cons. The typical unhungry child wishing to pick on french fries or a cheeseburger- aka MOST kids- this probably would be a waste of money & not work. My son is 5 and has the appetite of a 25 year old (sometimes) luckily he did this night and ate a GOOD amount of the 3 course meal. His filet was huge (almost adult size portion), and he also got a caesar salad & a dessert- which he chose creme brûlée! He loved ALL of it. Even had a special cup with a cap- to prevent spills (he is clutzy- lol). So that was nice but would that work during a regular week night dinner? Not so sure- I think the new addition to the menu was great but slightly impractical. We brought my son here 2 years ago (so he was 3) and I remember ordering him Cheeseburger sliders (not 100% on that but it wasn't expensive nor was it a 3 course meal) & that worked! Had they only had the current options, we probably would have had to share our plate's with him- so they probably should keep that smaller kids menu for kids ages 1-4. Overall, everything was still wonderful, the grounds are still immaculate and beautifully maintained and the restaurant is still beautiful. We will definitely be back! If you live anywhere near this restaurant - You really need to CHECK IT OUT. I constantly boast about this restaurant to people so I'm hoping you've gotten a lot of referrals from me! read more

Another time I wish Yelp had half stars because this was a 3.5 for me. First what an absolutely stunning location and grounds. LOVEF the dining room! Super crisp and clean-probably the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in in a restaurant. LOVED the live Piano!!! Beginning of the dinner was great and ended up falling off at the end... Summer Sangria-just didn't like it-tasted super watered down Espresso Martini-one of the worst I've ever had-also took 14 minutes.. Dessert-NOPE- waiting 20 minutes because the Apparently the dessert guy is also the salad maker and he has been inundated with salad orders. I ended up canceling the desert because it took so long but they did end up sending it out in the nick of time complimentary. The manager also brought over 2 1/2 glasses of red wine complimentary to go along with the chocolate dessert. It was over done-I get what it could've been but it was over cooked. Cheese plate-yikes- weird, weird, weird...there was no explanation as to what was on the plate- didn't get the 1/2 pickle and definitely didn't get the one green Olive cut in half -the bread crisps were weird and for $26 I wish I had never ordered. The lobster bisque, oysters Rockefeller, tuna and heirloom tomato salad were all delicious. My halibut was fantastic and the statler chicken was a 10. Service was good but when the Dining room started picking up service what is slammed to a halt-the last 30 minutes of our meal was an eternity-not sure what happened but waited 15 minutes for a overly sweet espresso martini and almost 30 for the burnt chocolate tempura. I feel this place is almost there...it's just still working out kinks and making a post pandemic comeback in my opinion. Wanted it to be a 5 just couldn't get it there tonight. I wish it hadn't rained because the patio was gorgeous. Next time I'll skip the cocktails (I'll stick to wine and beer) and will hopefully come on a sunny day to enjoy the patio. read more

Started the night off with Oysters Rockefeller. Soaking in Béarnaise sauce they were deliciously juicy in spinach and garlic. Next, we have our entrees, which I have to say were quite filling! The Faroe Island Salmon was perfectly cooked, set on tomato risotto and roasted leeks. I got the Surf & Turf and I have to say my steak tips were on point with a hint of sweetness. The Ribeye was a BIG KAHUNA 24 oz. of certified prime, cooked to perfection with that hint of sweet sauce. Dessert could not be shared due to how dangerously addicting it was. We are looking at my new obsession: Tempura Fried Salted Caramel Chocolate Soufflé. This was absolutely delicious with a crunchy tempura outer shell and a perfect ratio of warm chocolate cake and caramel sauce. Heaven in every bite! My husband and I had a wonderful meal here yesterday on a Sunday afternoon - someone had recommended Anya to us and it's a nice country drive to the location. We sat at the bar since we like that dining experience. We were greeted by a friendly bar tender and ordered drinks. The interior of the restaurant is light and open with a beautiful arched ceiling. I had the "Queen Bee" drink - a more creative version of a Bees Knees - delicious ! For appetizers we had oysters and Roman Artichokes- both wonderful. For dinner I had the Beef Wellington and my husband had seared scallops - both just fantastic with delicious sauces. Topped things off with a chocolate ganache cake for dinner. Very disappointing. The food was boring, the service was terrible, and the prices for what you get are ridiculously overpriced. For example, I ordered focaccia bread as an appetizer. There were 2 pieces of Italian bread (1"x1"x3" each) with some toppings. $15!!! My son-in-law ordered 6 oysters on the half shell. Instead, he received 4 Oysters Rockefeller. $24!! I ordered linguine with little neck clams. The pasta was undercooked and the watery sauce had no flavor. $32!!! My wife ordered Seafood Ravioli. There were 4 ravioli with a half ping-pong ball size of seafood in each one. The flavor was ordinary, at best. $44!!! Dishes and silverware were cleared before the entrees were served, which were then served with no replacement silverware. We waited a while before my daughter finally had to leave the table to go ask for forks. A young man brought spoons to the table! My dish was getting cold, so I started eating my linguine with a spoon. Do yourself a favor and save your money. Go somewhere else for a better dining experience, rather than this highly overrated place. read more
