"7 day free trial" is actually "if we feel like it, and for this you need to convince us that you will buy a 1-year membership"
    Lena J.

The "free 7-day pass" advertised on their website is false advertising - apparently it's only if you can convince them that you will definitely buy a one-year membership afterward. When I first walked in and asked about the trial, the response was "I'm not sure, can you?" One of the staff members (youngish with slightly longer hair, I believe his name was Vic) was very condescending. Among other things, he repeatedly said that it doesn't make sense to give a 7-day trial to someone who potentially wants to buy a 1-month membership, even though no such stipulations were mentioned on the website. After wasting 20+ minutes talking to him and saying that I was no longer interested, he said I could try it out for the day. Ordinarily this would be a very kind and generous gesture, except a free 7-day trial is advertised directly on their website. The cost of membership is $35/month if you buy a 1-year membership (this price may be just for UM students). If you just buy one month, it's $50. A day pass is $7. The actual facilities are quite cramped, as it's located in a strip mall, and the machines are quite close together. It's mostly clean enough, but there were pieces of tissue on the ground by the leg press machine. The treadmills were in good condition, but the leg curl machine was old and shaky - some of the parts were very loose. There were three racks which were all in use basically all the time, even though I was there at the supposedly non-busy time of mid-afternoon (another staff member emphasized that it was "empty" when I was there because people hadn't gotten off work yet). Another thing to note is that they offer perks for online reviews. They waive the key fob fee if you leave an "honest review" online, and there was a sign advertising a free t-shirt giveaway for positive reviews on Google and Facebook. The second star for this review is solely because their 24/7 hours are convenient and the facilities are, while not great, at least usable.

Really ATF? How you going to legally carry this one out. Made me consider ending my membership because of the foolishness.

PR Fitness is a spin-off of Running Fit's 501 Runner's group, and is intended to help endurance athletes train for Personal Records in triathlons, marathons, etc. PR Fitness' current group run business model is that all runs are free and on a drop-in basis, making it a wonderful and cheap way to enjoy distance running in a group setting. The founders are very open and communicative, offering training advice on the runs. They also offer paid training consultation sessions. Longer runs are generally mapped out with rest stations (water, gatorade), every couple of miles; runners set their own pace at whatever rate they're comfortable with. The Saturday morning sessions are well organized and offer a convenient venue to long distance train in a group setting. The weekday runs occur after 6, and are shorter in distance. Overall, PR Fitness has gotten off to a great start, developing a set of followers passionate about fitness and record setting, while still maintaining a Beginner Friendly vibe.

I moved out A2-way during the earlier days of COVID last year and needed a place to exercise. Remembered enjoying Wolverine Strength and Conditioning several years back and decided to give it a go. At that time, they were doing outdoor workouts, which was a big bonus! Plus, there were a lot of really great people both training and being trained. It was the most social thing that I was doing at the time - so not only did I improve my health by exercising regularly again, I also improved my health by having a social connectedness that was lacking in so many other areas of life. After the summer months, we headed inside. They made nice little "parking spots" with all the equipment separated out so that you had your own space. Of course they required face masks, per state regulations. But they also took extra precautions by giving us cleaning towels and products to wipe down the equipment after every use. They also had us go to the common areas in groups to keep contact down. Now that the weather is turning nice, they have told us that we will be going outside periodically again. It's SOOOO great of them to do that since it really is hard on the equipment, plus it's labor intensive. I honestly can't say enough good things about this gym. If you're looking to get your health in check (especially since we know that health is SO IMPORTANT when it comes to infectious disease) - definitely check this place out. You can drop in for free (one session), and then the $160/month is for month-to-month without an annual commitment. It's like getting a personal trainer - but for a LOT less! I cannot believe the changes I've seen in my body in less than a year... and how much more agile and good I feel. For the record, I'm 47 years old and feel better than I think I've ever felt. I may have gray hair... but I wouldn't mess with me if I were you! ;) Haha.

I called Jeff and went in to meet with him and was sold right away by his charm, energy, passion for the job and prices! Now, six months later, I am so glad I made that leap and am 30 pounds down not only due to his support with physical activity but because of his willingness to be there for me emotionally and mentally when necessary as it is of utmost importance to your process to have a supportive, kind and helpful voice even if it's while you are huffing and puffing through your exercises! Going to see Jeff is always bound to be full of laughs and positive energy alongside hard work! He is dedicated and focuses on your needs and tracks your heart rate to get an idea of what you need specifically and at what level you should be working. You'll never feel like you have to throw up, as I have with other trainers (not normal!!). Jeff keeps a close eye on your heart rate and body language to ensure you are working at an optimal level for fat loss or whatever it is you're looking for. After working with Jeff, I recommended him to my brother, who had a completely different set of expectations (muscle gain) than me (weight loss) for Jeff. He walked out of his first session and called me right away to say thanks for recommending Jeff and that he was pretty sure Jeff would change his life :). Sure enough, they've been working together and have made great strides too!! There is honestly no one better to start and finish your journey with! Look no further because you have found the guy that will work by your side to get you what you want! I honestly can't say enough to get you to contact him and just get out there! The drive down Riverside is always beautiful and gives me a bit of time to think before arriving and some time to be really proud on the way home. You'll be happy when you're pants fit nicely or even loosely instead of tight and your skin clears up and people start complimenting you! I know I was! It's all up to you to make the changes, but it's also really important to surround yourself with positive upbeat people who don't judge and who know what they're doing and how to tailor a program to you! Jeff can do all of that and more :) Contact me through Yelp if you have any questions regarding this review :)

Perhaps more importantly, he is constantly learning and growing to stay up-to-date on the latest scientific information, data, and best practices. As a trainer, Andrew listens to his clients' needs and tailors programs to fit what they want to accomplish and how to realistically achieve their goals within the context of the busy lives, schedules, and calendars that we all have. He is open to feedback, and actively seeks out information from his clients about their athletic/exercise background, injury history, nutritional and sleep habits, and other lifestyle factors that allow for a truly personalized program for each individual to reach their exercise goals and remain healthy, active individuals long past their athletic prime.
